Let's hope not, I would just LOVE to see Pelosi get humiliated on this one, it would be a HUGE win for the liberty of the American People and the long term health of the American Economy. |

| Posted 11/06/09 11:06 PM Mike in Virginia Fredericksburg, VA | "Democrat Bill Owens' victory in an upstate New York congressional district held by the GOP for more than a century." This is a total lie. The Democrats held that district from the late 1980s until the late 1990s. Pelosi and company are such congenital liars that they can't help but spew forth such easily debunked falsehoods. As Yogi Berra said, you can look it up.

| Posted 11/07/09 02:03 AM Cliff Hutchison Portland, OR | If you look up NY CD-23, it does show constant party change throughout the last century, but the problem is that serial redistricting has drastically moved NY-23 all over the NY map. After a couple hours of searching for old district maps online, I couldn't find any, but found some references to what other districts were divided to create it, at least for the last 3 redistricting sessions.
My current conclusion is that without county voting records, it may be, at worst, an oversimplification to say that voters of the current NY-23 have voted Republican for over a century. It may in fact be accurate to characterize the previous representatives of that area as Republicans without the social conservatism. |
