Why not leave and just let all these barbarians kill each other? |

Wait a minute. If we are "promoting democracy," then why are we depriving anyone of popular support? Popular support is the only determining factor in a democracy, isn't it? If was can't "win" with a 12-1 advantage, we have no business being over there at all. |

Why is it that the so-called "geniuses" running our military can see the problems, but can't actually apply them to the situation? Basic military 101 teaches us that when the enemy has learned how use the environment to their advantage, numbers mean squat. You can't find an enemy that looks exactly like the people you pass everyday. The fact that they use bombs means that our troop numbers will be decreased at an accelerated rate. "It's impossible to regain the initiative by introducing more foreign forces, which will only breed more resentment and more recruits for the enemy." If the people in Washington are reading this, let me make something clear: you cannot win a religious war with guns. The Middle-East is a theocracy--they build the foundations of their society around a specific religion. In this case, the political, economic, and sociological aspects of their society revolve around the Muslim belief system. The people there have been led to believe from day one that western ideals are evil, and anyone that supports and promotes the ideals need to be harshly dealt with. When you force democracy down the throats of people who have never had exposure to it, nor any desire to have it implemented in their society, you shouldn't be surprised if the people so dedicated to their views of westernization start to come after you with guns. Their are a lot of areas around the cities of Pakistan and Afghanistan with villages that have resentment toward the government that "we" put into power. Those individuals become valuable assets to groups like the Taliban. Again, the fact that they look just like ordinary villagers means ambushes are always going to be a common site. |
