We had a successful day at Hempfest, gathered 800 signatures for HR 1866 The Industrial Hemp Farmers Act of 2009!!! We gathered 174 signatures for S604 Audit the Fed bill! The more volunteers we have the more signatures we can gather. We literally had a hard time keeping up with all the signers with the few helpers we had. Come help us tomorrow and help us reach out goal, we have 1,026 signatures to go! We are in the middle of park, on the 420 lane station 600 next to the Vagina booth. The Vagina booth is very popular, ask anyone you see with wearing their clothes and they will direct you close to us. Sunday is a busier day than Saturday and C4L wants to be there educating the people! I won't make it till 11am or so, but the tables and petitions are there, just start setting up and gathering signatures. I still have to pick up the banner from Molly but if anyone else can do that text me at 206-795-4389. Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
I want to thank Ian, Nick, Elizabeth, Greg, Will and everyone who showed up to help us! You guys totally rock!!!

A letter we are using in Washington until we get a petition made for HR 1866. Please print as many as you like.
Support The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009
Dear Congressman: __________________________________________________
I am writing today to urge you to support House Bill 1866, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009, which would grant states the authority to license and regulate the commercial production of hemp as an industrial and agricultural commodity.
Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa that contains only minute (less than 1%) amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Passage of HR 1866 will grant farmers access to a viable, alternative economic crop without altering or interfering with existing state laws discouraging the recreational use of cannabis.
According to the U.S. Congressional Resource Service, the United States is the only developed nation that fails to cultivate industrial hemp as an economic crop. As a result, U.S. companies that specialize in hempen goods — such as Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, Patagonia, Nature’s Path, and Nutiva — have no choice but to import hemp material from foreign sources, such as Canada, Europe, and China. These added production costs are then passed on to the consumer who must pay artificially high retail prices for hempen goods.
Passage of HR 1866 is a common-sense bill that will help to stimulate the economy, create jobs, and enable U.S. farmers to grow a low maintenance alternative crop.
Once again, I urge you to support House Bill 1866, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009.
Sincerely,

ConcernedCitizen09 Burke, VA | I'm all for it. It will bring back the textile industry as well as provide a better source of ethanol fuel than corn-based ethanol. This would make us independent of Middle Eastern politics...now there's a thought! |

sweetNW Kirkland, WA | You are more that welcome to jump on board, start printing this letter and get it out to all the farmers. Lets make some noise and do something to stimulate the economy, we don't need anymore billion dollar bailouts. |
