Well we all know how bad Washington D.C is. But do we know how bad Sacramento is? The Assembly and the State Senate have to see whats going on in Washington. I think they are in a glass bubble!!
Last week the State Senate amended a bill. Do any of you know? Do you know who wrote the bill? A committee voted and passed it. The person who wrote the bill is from bay area.
OK OK it's State Senator Mark Leno (D) of SF. Ok do you know the bill number? Yes No alright I will tell you all! SB 810 Maybe some of you know this bill and some don't.
Folks this is what you call Single-Payer Healthcare Coverage!! Yes Obamacare for California!! It has a nice ring to it!
There are so many cool things in this bill! And I will tell all of you about it.. I know you are all dying to hear about it.
First we get a Healthcare Commissioner.. Ok what does he do. He has to determine goals, standards, guidelines, and priorities for the healthcare system, also oversee about 8 Healthcare Boards.. Just think how many new state workers he has to hire? You see folks I only read about maybe 33% of the bill.. It's a big bill.. Let me tell you some of the health boards
a) The Healthcare Policy Board
b) The Office of Patient Advacacy
c) The Office of Health Planning
d) The Office of Healthcare Quaitity
e) The Healthcare Fund
f) The Public Advisory Committee
g) The Payments Board ( Can't do without that Board!)
h) Partnerships for Health.
So there you go 8 boards.. But the board that caught my eye is The Public Avdisory Committee. The board will have 22 members from Doctors, R/N to a Dentist.. Some will be appointed by the Assembly Speaker, State Senate, and the Governor. Ok but there is a special person who also has to be on this board too! What can that person be? Do you know? Ok I will tell you all! They want a UNION MEMBER to be on the board also.. mmmm smells like union that wear the purple T- Shirts SEIU Well I don't know if they are on that board or not. Alright this bill is going to make 150,000 new healthcare jobs and make money for the state!!! Who are they kidding.. Going to cost 200 billion to start up or more!!
Now do you see how bad Sacramento is.. they are just as bad as D.C!

carcajou New York, NY | First, we have this from Bugsy: "There are so many cool things in this bill. And I will tell all of you about it.."!
Then, we have this: "You see folks I only read about maybe 33% of the bill.. It's a big bill.."
Summary:
Like, I think something is maybe right or wrong, but really I don't know for sure if this is true or what, but I'm approximately more than 40 percent or less confident that some of it may or may not be accurate! |

mybug67 Huntington Beach, CA | Carcajou I can only get thru about 33% of the bill there is so much to read and I guess you don't like my humor.. Hey thats fine. That is why I put up a link for people to look it up. |

homeofthefreeincalif Santa Clarita, CA | Yep, this is what these fools are doing.
I subscribe to State Senator George Runner's weekly email newsletter, which is where I learned of this the later part of last week. You may want to consider subscribing to stay abreast of things; it's easy to read and quite informative. You don't have to be in his district to get his newsletter.
Anyway, back to the Calif Legislature Insanity......time to get rid of these nuts, time to take back our state, time to make them part time legislature as they should be. I made this decision last fall when it was reported in the news that Gov Arnold was not going to sign any of the 700! (yes, that's SEVEN HUNDRED!) NEW bills sitting on his desk until he got the budget from them.......What the H--- do we need 700 new laws for/about in ONE year? They have nothing else to do so they sit around thinking of ways to take and spend our money all the while we are paying them to do this???!!!?? What is wrong with this picture? Please take this info and tell others....ask them what is so wrong in California that we need another 700 new laws (and that's just for one year)....perhaps this can bring it home to other Californians and help get our state legislation back to a part time status...Thanks for your patriotism. I'm glad to be an American and part of this movement. |

fr33domfightr Costa Mesa, CA | I hope some of you are finally getting pissed off!! It's about time! Our state is so messed up, we need a revolution to straighten things out. Are you ready to take action?!?!? At the very least, there is something you can do to attempt to fix the state.
Citizens for California Reform (CCR) is a general purpose political action committee. As a non-partisan public interest advocacy organization, CCR is committed to advancing more limited and transparent government. This organization is promoting a Ballot Initiative to return our state legislature to part-time (Citizen) status once again, AND to cut their pay up to 50%!! According the CCR, we used to have a part-time legislature up until 1966. After going to full-time, over the last 30 years, our state legislature has passed 30,000 Bills. How could anyone keep track of this?!?!?
Since Campaign For Liberty has over 20,000 members in California, we could easily get the required number of signatures to ensure this initiative qualifies for the November ballot.
I suggest we seriously consider what condition our state is in, and we starting walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Why not help me and our state by promoting the Part Time Legislature and get this important initiative on the ballot for all of us to vote on.
Go here to read about CCR, and to download the petition:
http://www.reformcal.com
It must be printed on 8.5" x 14" (legal) paper and signed by registered voters only. A registered voter can collect signatures in any county. Are you with me???? I hope so.

Though I wonder what she would replace it with, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano spoke in April of wanting to repeal the Real ID act of 2005:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/22/real.ID.debate/
That might provide justification for big government legislators to vote against it...the biggest government of all is already having second thoughts! Doesn't California have enough trouble already, without jumping on board Real ID, which may already be on life support?

Elysiumboy Billericay, United Kingdom | Mybug67 - In Britain, the opposition and a majority of the people, including many high ranking police officers, claimed ID cards will not solve anything and cause a bigger upset in the system than they will help. They still went through, regardless of complaint.
The work put in to push HR1207 through was nothing short of magnificent so you now know you can shout and make an impact. If you do not use that power now they will take it away with all these new schemes because Universal healthcare schemes and the likes, turn the general public against each other. Smokers and drinkers cost more to maintain and then, of course, there's obesity. And whilst we are being told we are wasters of life, the government are okay to kill a few thousand in a foreign land (obviously, that figure catapults if we include the "casualties of war". Must have all been terrorists then).
What worries me more is how deep they delve into the banking world. We have experts in society that could tell your entire personality by how you spend your money and what you buy. I have voted in this poll, although I'm British, because I hate the thought of these cards that will hold a lot more detail about us than they claim. |

SB 60 bill passed out of the State Senate Approiations Committee 7 yes and 5 no and one did not vote and is on it's way to the full California State Senate for a vote maybe this coming week! Call State Senator Steinberg and let then know you say " NO ON SB 60 " Steinberg is the State Senate Pro Tem in Sacramento.
If passed SB 60 is going to put into place the REAL ID ACT of 2005 or the NATIONAL ID CARD! The DMV said it's going to cost California over 500 million dollars and the Feds are not putting up the bill, also have to hire 600 more state workers! " LIKE WE NEED MORE STATE WORKERS "
Call State Senator Darrell Steinberg office (916) 651-4006 and MELT his switch board with calls!
It's time for C4L in California to step up to the plate. I am talking about you Local Coordinators you District Coordinators and State Coordinators too.We must rally the troops around this and for FREEDOM!! It's nice to get HR 1207 with all the cosponsors onboard, but we have to take care of are backyard too!! More info on SB 60 www.leginfo.ca.gov

Well IIt's back SB60 in Sacramento the REAL ID ACT of 2005. State Senator Cedillo from the 22nd district in Los Angeles, has again brought back SB60. This is the national ID card. Arnold vetoed the bill last time, not because it would violate the 4th amendment. If passed your drivers licenses will have a micochip in it!! It is going to cost alot of money that the state does not have. The DMV said The Real ID is going to cost about 500 million to put into place! So call your state senator and assemblyman and tell them NO to SB60!!! This has to stop NOW!! www.legislature.ca.gov/

shooter348 Buffalo, WY | I hope all REAL ID legislation gets voted down but if it doesn't why don't we protest by not renewing our driver's licenses? |
Posted 03/30/09
evought Stotts City, MO | That's a good question and it might be one of the ways to go about it. Then, when they deny access to government services or do not let you in the courthouse without it, sue the state under Equal Protection--- the state cannot choose to ignore you because you do not wish to go through an invasive and unnecessary procedure. They can try, but they might find it more trouble than it is worth if a lot of people feel that way.
The cost of the IDs may just be one of the ways to approach that. It would be a hard sell for the state to say "You cannot have access to the government unless you pay $50." There are quite a few people to whom that cost is substantial hardship and that is why courts have consistently rejected requirements that voters present a driver's license at the poll (it represents a "poll tax").
In Missouri, the anti-Real-ID bill has been derailed by someone adding an amendment saying that the government give individuals a choice of which type of ID they want (and can probably spin their explanations of the difference in whatever way they wish). This would be a start, and probably many people who do not object morally would object to the new price tag, but it would not solve the problem at the federal level. At least it only invades the privacy of the ones who openly choose it (as long as only the Real-ID people are entered into the national database).

judyinwash Vancouver, WA | In Washington state they have made it optional and you get a $5 discount for the "enhanced" version of the driver's license. I'll pay the extra $5 for the old driver's license, thank you! |

BruceLayne Lexington, KY | There are enough states that HAVE stood on principle and said outright that they won't implement REAL ID that it's not happening as the international database that was planned. Many of the state legislators went so far as to pass a law specifically outlawing REAL ID or anything like it. The DHS has lost this battle, but they just keep trying. They're now pushing Enhanced Driver's Licenses, which is just another pathway to REAL ID. Tyranny by any other name, eh?
Many states already have REAL ID compliant driver's licenses. The digital photos are sufficiently detailed to be used for computerized facial recognition. I won't divulge all of the anti-REAL ID technology that I used at my last driver's license renewal, but when I handed over my old driver's license the DMV clerk looked at it, looked at me, then looked at the driver's license again and said, "This doesn't look anything like you!" It's the first time I've almost wanted to kiss a bureaucrat from the DMV. I thought, "I hope the computer thinks that doesn't look anything like me." That's the real point. A police officer should be able to look at the license and know it's me (even if I look like an ax murdering drifter in my driver's license photo), but I don't want a computer scanning a crowd and knowing who I am. As soon as the I had my new driver's license, I went back to looking like me. My friends and family think my driver's license is hilarious. Many think of it as just a silly prank, but most understand why I did it and the minor monkey wrenching political protest that it represents.
Sadly, it seems inevitable that as soon as the technology is available, it will be used to increase tyranny. Remember that IBM used early punch card technology to allow Nazis to track Jews onto the boxcars, into forced labor camps and into the ovens.

Elysiumboy Billericay, United Kingdom | It will be the simplest things that will hurt the most. Forget your wallet at the wrong time and it will not matter what your reasons were, they'll fine you! If they have to force it through why can't they link it to our banks accounts or something. At least that way we give the information to someone who already has most of it (I will not say trust because that isn't true. I'm almost scared of them) and we may even be able to keep it in civilian hands.
This is the start of a new era for all the wrong reasons in my eyes. |
