As long as all these discussions revolve around subjects denominated in Federal Reserve Notes we are just shoveling sand against a high rising tide. They own the counterfeiting machine and that mitigates any other remedial measures that might be proposed.

If the money was sound and IF spending could be reined in to produce a balanced budget THEN a $0.50 two year tax on a gallon of gasoline pumped here would retire the debt over the same period. (We consume about 370-million gallons per day.)

However, it can't happen in a system where self interest prevails.

I like how Ron just rings up MSNBC to lay it out for them. Classic.

How didn't either Ron Paul or Dylan Ratigan call out this Joe Klein when he states paying down the debt is simple:
1. Raise taxes to Clinton era - $700 billion over ten years.
2. "Rework" tax code - $1 trillion (over unspecified time)
3. Stop war in Afghanistan - $100 billion/year.

First I'd have made him expound on #2 a bit, because if #1 only nets $70 billion/year, #2 is likely on a per decade basis as well. And then that begs the question of how does $270 billion payed to the debt pay down the over 1.5 trillion we're piling one annually?

if any one needs to be liberated its us!!!! from the currupt government.is it not in are constitution if we the people are not happy with are government we can vote and throw all of them out??? lets start a petition to put it on the ballet!!!! i do not know how to write it up??? write me back with your input
we the people should have a say in how much they make, and to
cut the budget we need to cut their pay down to $100k a year!!!! then they will
know what it is like to be middle class.we pay their salary we pay for their
healthcare, but they want to fine us if we the people dont pay for are own,and
that is b.s.

@"its my money": I think a pay cut for congress might have some symbolic significance, but ultimately it would have very little effect. The money saved would have no difference in the budget (well not none, but less than 1% of 1%) and I doubt more than a fraction of congressmen actually need that salary for day to day expenses. Most the congress members I've seen elected in my state are independantly wealthy and the salary in congress is just a bit more $$ for retirment.

Not saying a cut would be bad, it would be good; but the effect would be so small as to be unnoticable.

Love the dismissal that "it's always more complex than what Liberatians make it out to be...." Really? principles and reason are not able to address complex situations? Corporatism/crony capitalism and collectivism is a better solution?

Much better than previous questionings. I like it when he holds his toes right next to the fire, the added pressure throws Bernanke off and further exposes his & the fed's policies.

This is probably the most arrogant statement from Bernanke I've ever heard.

"It's a loan so if they don't pay back we take our share of the losses"

Translation:

"It's fractional reserve lending, and thus we loan other people's money, and if they don't pay back the tax payer (but not us) takes the share of the losses. And if they do pay, we (not the tax payer) gain."

No, the real translation "We 'borrow'(steal) the value from money already printed, to create new money. We take this new money and spread it around like magical fairy dust to anyone who needs it. When we financially enslave those countries, we (not the people) reap huge rewards. If they fail to pay it back, the people suffer, not us."

Great examination Dr. Paul!

Congress Allows Bernanke To Lie - What A Bunch Of Corrupt Cowards!

Who would accept this deal? Let me loan you an IOU that the G-20 leaders have decreed as currency.

You ask Bernanke: "Where did you get the IOU?"

The answer: "I just made it up!!! The G-20 leaders said it would be accepted as currency so I can just act like an unethical economic imbecile and go before Congress and lie in the Chambers of Congress."

And the spineless and completely corrupted Congress sits idly on its hands.

Every one of these cowardly and treasonous members of Congress need to be removed from Congress as soon as possible!

I'm screaming - Answer the #$%$ question! He never did. The $ will come out of thin air and ramp up inflation thereby sticking the folks with the bill as usual. How long do those fools think this can go on?
