Originally from Maine, I have been living outside the US for 30 years. I have often felt very cynical and helpless as I watched the government's actions/policies affect the world. Finding that there is someone, ANYONE with integrity and principles in government, whose voice we could actually HEAR, fighting for what is right has helped dispel my cynicism and apathy.

Dear Dr. Paul,

I will be honored to contribute to LPAC. My hope is for a President strong enough to resist temptations as well. I can think of no one better than you. In fact I already tried to contribute, however I don't have an address of my own here in the states, and the donation form didn't offer an international option (under state) like C4L has so I couldn't contribute. Since I know the impact of all of us donating on Monday is very important, I will try again then. If I am unable to donate online, then I will surely donate by money order and send it in the mail. God bless you and your family for all you sacrifice for us.

My warmest regards and respect,
Susan Westfall

Dear Susan,

A great man was born 279 years ago.

George Washington was a freedom fighter, a leader, and one of our greatest Presidents. But, much of General Washington's greatness was marked not by what he did, but by what he chose not to do.

He could have been a King.

Instead, he stood for Liberty and stepped aside after eight years, allowing our young Republic to grow into the greatest nation in Human history.

2012 offers our movement a tremendous opportunity. Our nation is beset with crippling debt, an out of control federal government, and a foreign policy that weakens our national defense and isolates us from the world.

But with hard work and determination, we can change course and turn our country back toward Liberty and all of its rewards.

Quite frankly, we need to elect a President in 2012 who will do a lot less: less meddling in the economy, less spending, less warrantless ransacking, less bailing out of Wall Street, less inflating, and less foreign aid and overseas intervention.

We need a President who will respect our Constitution, not someone who simply pays lip service to our traditions.

Because I want a President who does so much less, a lot of people ask me if this means I want a weak President.

My answer is "No!" I want a strong President - a President like George Washington.

I want a President strong enough NOT to take power he should not have.

It is no secret that I am weighing my personal political options for 2012, and that I am relying on Liberty PAC to fund my efforts while I make important decisions.

Monday, February 21st, is Presidents' Day, which celebrates George Washington's birthday, and we hope to make it one to remember.

On Monday, Liberty PAC will host its first-ever Money Bomb. Please mark it on your calendar and consider contributing. If we all come together and pitch in, we can take our country back from the statists that are stealing our Liberty and shredding our Constitution.

The next few months will be critical to ensuring a successful political operation for the 2012 cycle. I hope you will join me by making this Presidents' Day, February 21st, truly special.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

An excellent article/argument by @foundersthink I found on twitter (which does have some redeeming qualities such as finding article links like this).

It's been quite alarming to see recent articles talking about the need to get rid of the electoral college. I thought this was a very succinct arguement against such insiduous calls.

I am not sure what happened. I tuned into CSPAN 1 to watch the House coverage and caught Rep. Kucinich standing in opposition to an oversight bill in which he stated that " Ron Paul's amendment to audit the FED had been stripped out of the bill." He stood in opposition to it's removal, the bill being brought to the floor at this time, and the message that would be sent to the Senate (who has not yet passed off on their bill) and the FED. The message being "a green light to carry on business as usual." The chair then passed the bill. Few members were there, a recorded vote was not taken or even requested. What happened?

Maybe the lines to Congress should burn up really quickly with our calls to find out what went on.

From what we understand, Dennis was referring to GAO bill that contains his audit provisions that deal with the bailouts not the monetary policy, it does not affect the reg bill that was done last month.

We need to push a vote on HR 1207 as a stand-alone. Then nobody can sweep it under a legislative rug.

A quote from an excellent article on Mises and Austrian economics.

"Having said that, we believe Ron Paul is the most significant force in today's politics simply because no one EVER, that we know of in Western politics, has had his level of clarity and understanding about free-markets and Austrian economics. His knowledge is of the profoundest sort, and the idea that he has espoused such ideas within an American political context continues to astound."
