Thank for contacting me in opposition to foreign aid. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.
I agree with you that our foreign aid programs are in dire need of reform, and they along with the entire federal budget must be examined closely to find spending reductions to combat unsustainable Washington spending and debt. I oppose actions that jeopardize the American people by placing the needs of other countries above the United States, but I also believe effective foreign policy can advance our national security and international goals.
While I understand the need for foreign aid in order to promote peace and stability around the world and increase our own security, I strongly believe that we must reexamine our role in the United Nations. I have firmly opposed any U.N. monitoring of U.S. elections, opposed members of our Armed Forces being held subject to any international criminal court, and worked to expose corruption at the U.N.'s Oil-for-Food program in Iraq. Rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind as the U.S. Senate considers legislation affecting our diplomatic efforts.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about any other issue important to you.

Chris Hand Denham Springs, LA | What was the content of your letter?
As usual, he remains neutral, with an outlook of "I'll take a look". I hope he takes action and becomes who we need in the Senate.
Thanks, Jay! |
