It sees like not too long ago, we had the first November 5th moneybomb. This year, there will be another to support freedom Candidates from around the country. Rand Paul and Adam Kokesh are among the top pledge-getters so far.
Remember, that THIS November 5th, freedom needs your help. Pledge to donate $25 to the candidate of your choosing, or multiple candidates.
We have the unique opportunity of being able to support a pro-freedom candidate in our own backyard. David Ratowitz has been added to http://www.thisnovember5th.com
If you are so inclined, help make a difference at home.

You have probably seen my messages about the Cook County Sales tax hike repeal. Well, the county commissioners are voting Tuesday, 5/19 to overturn Stroger's veto. This article has contact info for two commissioners who missed the last vote. If they vote for the repeal, Cook County sales tax will go down by 1% on Jan 1. 2010.
DIAL FOR YOUR DOLLARS, TOMORROW!!!
Lets try to coordinate our calls to be between 12pm-4pm. Make their phones ring off the hook!

Justin Kapacinskas Elgin, IL | I'm happy to help with any project that could help lower taxes and reduce the size of government in the corrupt, bloated bureaucracy of Cook County, Illinois. I will call this afternoon and urge other residents of Cook County to do the same. |

This morning, I called Rep. Danny Davis (IL-7) in his DC office to speak about cap & trade. I expressed my concerns regarding the tax burden that HR2454 will put on working people, but they fell on deaf ears. Rather than continuing to beat a dead horse, I shifted the conversation over to HR1207.
Davis seemed vaguely familiar with the bill, calling it "The Paul Bill". I told him that an organization with the power of the money supply of this country, needs oversight at the very least. After talking about the need for transparency in government for a bit, Rep. Davis all but committed to co-sponsoring the bill! Expect to see his name on it shortly.
This doesn't mean we can let up the pressure. He may forget about our conversation this morning by the end of a long session in the house. Give him a call in the next few days and express your support for HR1207 as well.

On Friday the US House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on HR2454 - The American Clean Energy and Security Act. This amounts to nothing more than a backdoor tax on the American people, that will do NOTHING to help the enviornment.
Read a great criticism of the bill here: http://bit.ly/du8et
This bill will cost the taxpayers of Illinois an estimated $443M.
Look at this map to see estimated costs for every state
Everyone needs to call their reps TODAY & TOMORROW, and let them know we oppose this bill.
I've also heard that Mark Kirk (IL-10) has been especially targeted to be the first Republican to support the bill. Call YOUR REP first and then call Mark Kirk.

Scott D Chicago, IL | from John Tate:
"You can reach the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Call and ask for your Representative's office. Politely but firmly tell their office that you are opposed to this costly government power grab." |

Justin Kapacinskas Elgin, IL | The U.S. government is the single largest polluter on the planet. And this is the bureaucracy that's gonna "fix the environment"? God help us. |

Justin Kapacinskas Elgin, IL | I called Congresswoman Schakowsky's DC office and my expressed my opposition to this bill to an aide that answered the phone. I strongly urged the Congresswoman to vote 'No' on HR 2454 and I offered a few reasons for my opposition.
For one thing, I think that increasing taxes will have an adverse effect on consumer purchases of energy efficient durable goods like cars and appliances. Thus, this bill, as per usual with government meddling in the economy, will have an unintended consequence of stifling innovation and thereby very likely cause an opposite effect of what is supposedly intended by this massive legislation.
For another thing, I think it's obvious that these new taxes and regulations will drive out profitable businesses to China and India, for example, where such regulations are far less severe in this respect.
Lastly, I commented that, while I am in favor of good stewardship of the environment, I don't believe that the government is any authority on environmental stewardship, since it is one of the world's worst polluters of the environment.
Unfortunately, I was told by the aide that Congresswoman Schakowsky is supporting this bill. I hope that other constituents in the 9th Congressional District of Illinois will call and express their opposition to this massive economic intervention and imprudent, wasteful regulatory regime by big (brother) government. |
