software engineer by day (15 yrs at the same company); musician by nite (to keep my sanity in this insane world); active in the local drumming community + food not bombs; and also a peace activist. i'm politically outspoken too (the time has long past to keep quiet).

basically, a libertarian at heart, who went back to the dark side to vote for ron paul in the primaries. i originally left the republican party over 12 yrs ago.

i have no interest in getting into office, and negative interest in the republicrats (the 2 party system is really 1 party with 2 faces, which is there to distract people from the real problems, and is repulsive). if you're up for cleaning up the parties from the inside, more power to you.

we have more in common than we have differences; we're all in the same boat. together we can turn this country around for the better.

i will continue to back the few ethical candidates/people in office (regardless of party affiliation), e-mail congress, etc...

a note on recruiting... even though i've invited way more people to this C4L site, only 2 have set up a profile (although i know a couple in my office + other friends do read the articles here). perhaps it's people skeptisism of anything political these days, which i totally understand, but i've had 20+ people join the C4L facebook groups, be it family members, friends, class mates, melbourne drum tribers, food not bombers, etc..

for you music lovers, you can steam the latest album produced at my pad @ http://myspace.com/nuclearumbrella

no you don't. the senate is so sold out and doesn't give a crap what the people think. i'd prefer mel (martinez) and you would have the backbone to say so, or better yet, have the backbone to represent your people, but you think you're "holier than thou".

regardless, i will keep sending you e-mails to let you know what the people think.

what you are guaranteeing is bad press anytime your name is mentioned, and a guarantee of losing votes the next time you come of for re-election.

you can't escape the natural law of karma; what goes around comes around.

any power people have comes via our (God-given) intelligence, and whether we use it effectively or not.

"the powers that be" would like people to think that power is really something else, such as how much $$$ we have, or how much access to authority we have, so that we'll feel powerless. "authority" tends to be nothing more than having access to violence, because of a lack of true power over the people they are trying to subdue.

"they" would like us to drag us down to their level by responding with violence, which they can easily crush with their weapons and bombs.

our most effective "weapon" to combat such nonsense is the coherent use of our intelligence, and non-violent non-cooperation.

peace,
db

a reprint of a message posted on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BrevardC4L

tom,

made it 3 hr 40 mins at the gun show before getting called into work.
just got done with helping out the customer.

sean was there from 9am, mostly inside handing our C4L info.
mike hughes was also inside, but made his way outside around 10-11.
trey showed up around 10:30 and linda around 11.

saw some other C4L people around too.

handed out a LOT of single pamphlets, a few of the multi-page 1s, and a couple of bumper stickers to those that asked for more info/bumper stickers.

from what i saw, people were quite receptive. very few declined the flyers.

peace,
db

just added my name to a petition to get her out of office.

how dare homeland security lump veterans who've made sacrifices for this country with right wing extremists?

the buck shouldn't stop there... anyone involved in the write-up of that publication should go too.
