My letter to him: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=13317
April 14, 2009
Dear Mr. Krause,
Thank you for contacting me about the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. I appreciate your comments and am grateful that you took the time to contact me.
The goal of the Federal Reserve is to maintain the stability of the financial system through conducting the nation's monetary policy while ensuring the soundness and safeness of the banking and financial system. Founded in 1913, the Federal Reserve has functioned as the nation's central bank by influencing monetary policy to pursue maximum unemployment, stable prices and moderate long-term interest rates. Recently, gaps in regulatory oversight were revealed during this financial crisis that must be addressed to prevent future regulatory failures.
I share a great deal of frustration with you over the failure of our financial regulatory system to provide proper oversight of the financial services sector necessary to prevent the current economic crisis. As a member of the Financial Services Committee, I will continue to explore and address the areas in our financial regulatory structure that need reform to provide proper oversight of our constantly evolving financial sector. Reform must be implemented properly and thoughtfully to allow for financial markets to operate and innovate. We must also maintain diligent oversight to protect market participants and prevent systemic risk.
Working with Congress, the Federal Reserve provides vital tools and powers necessary to stabilize the economy. I will continue to work and discuss with my colleagues in Congress solutions to improve the regulatory oversight of our financial system and stabilize our economy
If you have any additional questions regarding this or other issues, please do not hesitate to contact my office. You can sign up for my newsletter and find more information on my views and my work in Congress by visiting my official website at www.house.gov/himes.
Sincerely,
Jim Himes Member of Congress

rbadeer Ridgefield, CT | "the Federal Reserve has functioned as the nation's central bank by influencing monetary policy to pursue maximum unemployment"...Himes didnt even take a moment to read his canned response. He wants to "maximize unemployment"? This guy is truly a travesty. You need to see if a local paper will print this this, the people around here need to know what kind of buffoon he really is. |

In the past 2 months, I have started to take a more active part in the campaign than I ever have, including during the presidential campaign. People are starting to recognize our campaign. This morning on NPR they were talking about Mark Stanford and how he is slightly like Ron Paul because of their opposition to the stimulus package. They then went on to say that Ron Paul is the most energizing figure in the Republican Party especially among young people. Our message is resonating and it is time for us to show Washington our numbers by spamming them with letter about HR 1207. If it passes, then Washington recognizes we are a force to be reckoned with and we know we are. Make the pundits scared, force them to talk about us. They saw our numbers at CPAC (I was there). As a 14 year old, It excites me to see our platform being built up, making it easier for me to help bring this county back to constitutional and limited government. I encourage everyone to do what they can for C4L. Give you money (I've given my $35 have you??), give your time. Remember REAL change begins with YOU!!!

Andrew Sica Woodbury, CT | Charlie, I'm excited too. Not just about the C4L, but about having a young person like you involved and making such a huge difference already! |

LedgerSko Waupun, WI | Charlie, I agree. I am 28 years old myself and I want to give it a run at organized politics myself. |

eduardo89 Segovia, Spain | I was wondering if someone could write a letter for all of us to use when contacting the press. Some sort of uniform letter would help us all to save time and become more efficient in writing to our local media. |

Dear Representative Himes
Congratulations for your membership in the 111th Congress. As a 14 year old from New Canaan, I have, over the last 2 years, become immensely involved in politics. I urge you to review HR 1207 (if you haven't already). I hope that you will cosponsor and take initiative in the House Committee on Financial Service to get this important legislation passed. Transparency is exactly what Americans want in this crisis and the Federal Reserve is the most secretive financial institute in America. As a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, you have a chance to lead a bipartisan charge to change America for the better. On your campaign website, you said, "Oversight is hard and uncompromising-but transparency and accountability are absolutely essential to effective government." This is your chance to fulfill your campaign promises and transform Washington. I would love to see you on the co-sponsor list in the coming days and would love to heard back from you soon.
Thank you so much for your service to America and the 4th district, Charles A. Krause V
