I am a proud American.  I am constantly learning about my country and my place in it.  I am a Precinct Committeeman in my County.  I am a veteran of the US Army and reluctantly served 2 combat tours Iraq; a war I later learned was unconstitutional and wrong.

I am neither Republican nor Democrat.  I believe, as Washington and Jefferson did, that a "party-system" will fail our people.  Well it has.  I hope to END the two-party system.

I believe in the individual, not the government.        Enough said...

A new job and a new adventure.

My family and I are grateful for the huge promotion and the oppotunity, but we know next to nothing about living in the mid-west.  I was born and raised in Tucson and have never really lived anywhere else, save the military.

What new adventures await us in Kansas City?  What are the politics of the state like?  Is there a strong freedom movement there?  I guess I will learn the answers to these questions soon enough.

If anyone out there is from KC (as the locals refer to it), drop me a line and give me the heads up on going down with Campaign for LIberty in Kansas!

In Liberty,

James

Sports provide us with a great analogy into the world of government.

In sports like football, for example, we have competing teams with varying degrees of skill.  Some teams excel at their passing game, while others are masters of running the ball.  Some have great offense, while others rely on their defensive skill.  And then there are some teams that excel at everything and it is usually those teams that win the big prize.

The role of the referees and officials is to protect the integrity of the game.  They monitor fouls and make sure everyone plays by the rules, etc.  SImple right?

What would the fans of the NFL do if all of a sudden, the referees started flagging star players for performing too well or they decided one team was at a disadvantage in some form or another and they were going to level the playing field... after all it's only "fair," right?  "Your receivers made too many receptions in the first quarter, 15 yard penalty!"  "The other team's field-goal kicker can't make a 52 yarder...move the ball up 20 yards!  "It's not a hand out, it's a handup!"

This is what our government has become.  Referees charged with protecting the integrity of our Contitution and free market are now deciding for themselves who will win and who will lose, who gets penalties and who gets rewarded, and soon with National Healthcare... who lives and who dies.

I think the fans of the NFL woud first try to replace the referees with better ones, then have protests about the referees who have perverted the game and made it non-competitive, and finally...if nothing changed...they would burn that stadium to the ground...     and rightly so.

I like your analogy - it's all about having a Level Playing Field and Consistent rules.

The recent bill proposed by Sen. Pearce of AZ would have been an arsenal of tools the State of Arizona could have used to fight illegal immigration in this state as well a a giant slap in the face of Sec. Napolitano (DHS) and a WIN for state's rights!

Our State "leaders" in C4L, however, chose to pull some text from the bill and sling it around AZC4L completely out of context.

As someone who works in the realm of Immigration and is more than familiar with immigration law (as it relates to the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Arizona Employer Sanctions Law, etc.), I saw no mention of REAL ID in the proposed legislation, nor did I see anything in the bill that could have led to anything like it!  The bill would have allowed State and Local officials and Law Enforcement to exchange information with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for the SOLE PURPOSE of verifying citizenship status.  That specific language is in the bill.  It is strictly limited to Immigration.  How, in any way, shape or form, does this negatively impact a lawful US Citizen?  There is not a single mention of REAL ID or NATIONAL ID CARDs, and even when taken out of context, the bill could not possibly be construed as anything but a tough bill on illegal immigration in Arizona.

If anyone would like to debate me on the merits of the bill, I welcome it; so long as we stick to the actual "language" of the bill and not "what you think it means."

Here is the language of the bill in question:

F.  Except as provided in federal law, officials or agencies of this state and counties, cities, towns and other political subdivisions of this state may not be prohibited  (emphasis added) or in any way be restricted from sending, receiving or maintaining information relating to the immigration status  (emphasis added) of any individual or exchanging that information with any other federal, state or local governmental entity for the following official purposes:

1.  Determining eligibility for any public benefit, service or license provided by any federal, state, local or other political subdivision of this state. (Meaning illegals would be denied public benefits, driver's licenses. etc.)

2.  Verifying any claim of residence or domicile if determination of residence or domicile is required under the laws of this state or a judicial order issued pursuant to a civil or criminal proceeding in this state. (This limits it to STATE LAW ONLY)

3.  Confirming the identity of any person who is detained.

I'm disappointed in you Jeff, Kelly, and Annette...don't jump on every bandwagon just because some website on the "internets" told you its for "liberty!"

I guess we can just agree to disagree, eh?

James

Poll: Does this bill have anything to do with REAL ID??

No... the language of the bill speaks for itself
Yes...it's a hidden attempt to sneak in secret REAL ID provisions
No...AZC4L jumped on the wrong bandwagon and possibly helped kill decent legislation that would help fight illegal immigration
OPEN BORDERS!!!! SCREW U.S. SOVEREIGNTY!!!!

You are correct in the context that the wording "national ID card" is not there in the bill......
BUT ,before a license or identification card can be issued ( according to the bill) a "check" or approval of the federal government is required. This in turn creates a national identification "system"
Here's how i see it....
If ANY individual applies for a license , their immigration status is then shared and stored(data base ) at a federal level.National database ! so, to get your AZ driving license (card ) your information is now shared and stored at a national level.
now with a database up and running, what other information can they store and share ? maybe they will pass a bill next for organ donation where your blood type and donation requests are on there, maybe other health information will get added on too ?
Maybe your voting record goes on next ? the possibilities are endless and ripe for abuse. once a national database is established and linked to cards liberty and freedom are gone.

I am not attacking the whole bill or the notion that we need immigration reform, JUST this section.

You are assuming that DHS does not have this database already... I can assure you they do, for immigration. The info shared with DHS, I assume from the language of the bill, would simply be to check existing data... not to store new data. What is wrong with a state checking with Immigration for citizenship status?

President Obama announced, in true fashion, that unless the Senate passes the sweeping Healthcare bill, the Federal Government will be "bankrupt" (blogs.abcnews.com, 2009).  He said this in an interview with ABC's Charile Gibson on the same day that the United States Government actually surpassed the debt ceiling of 12.104 trillion dollars by 31 billion.  As of December 16th, our National Debt has reached an amazing 12.135 trillion dollars.  Legally, our national debt can't exceed $12.1 Trillion, so in order to continue Federal Government Spending, we are forced to raise the debt ceiling once again and increase borrowing.

I have news for you Mr. President -  WE ARE ALREADY BANKRUPT!!!

I don't think passing a trillion dollar healthcare reform bill will help matters much.  How do you expect us to believe that adding 12 million people to the healthcare system will lead to better quality coverage and cost savings?  It's politcal nonsense and intellectually dishonest!  The federal government is the most wasteful entity ever created.  Never in its history has the government undertaken a large task that has led to cost savings and elimination of "waste, fraud, and abuse."

Add to this an enormously costly Cap and Trade bill, where even President Obama states that, if passed, domestic energy prices "would necesarily skyrocket," and we have a recipe for an all out disaster.

These types of spending initiatives are tough to pass in a healthy economy, but to try and burden the American family with trillions in new spending on the brink of a depression is insanity.

The common argument from the left is "Well Bush started it!" or "We are just trying to clean up the mess left by the previous administration" etc. During the last months of the Bush Administration, now Speaker Pelosi is quoted as saying that Bush's spending was "unpatriotic" and "irresponsible" because of the enormous borrowing and deficits.  Sen. Reid said the Republicans were "the most fiscally irresponsible in history...no other President or Congress comes close."  I wonder what these two hypocrites would say about thier own "irresponsible, unpatriotic" spending.  Bush's spending is DWARFED by this administration's policies.  The "Bush Started It!" argument falls on its face when you simply look at the numbers...

 - When Bush left office, there was a budget deficit of $410 billion

 - Obama's budget deficits are closely approaching $2 TRILLION

 - Bush increased the national debt from 5 to 10 trillion in 8 years (roughly 625 billion per year)

 - Obama, in one year, has added $2 Trillion to the debt, 4 times faster than Bush.

All one has to do is read a paper or watch the news to hear about all the wonderful spending going on in DC.

Don't mistake my criticism of President Obama for a yearning to return to the Bush years.  I simply wish to point out how reckless the spending was under Bush compared to the suicidal spending of Obama.

Poll: Can Obama really blame all of his spending on the previous administration?

No - You can't spend your way out of a recession and Obama refuses to make cuts and hard choices
Yes - Bush started it and Obama is FORCED to spend this much to get us out of Bush's mess
Huh? Obama is spending too much? We're are legally bankrupt as a nation?

There has been some talk of Ron Paul possibly running for President again in 2012. If we stop and think about is, he is making all the preparations to do so such as:

- Write a best-selling book (Ron Paul Revolution, End the Fed, etc.)

- Visit early primary states like Iowa and South Carolina, etc.

- Do the Media rounds and state your case on FOX, CNBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc.

- Continue Raising money through C4L

Ron Paul has done all these things and I think it would be fair to say if the elections were held tomorrow, Ron Paul would receive millions more votes than he did in the 2008 campaign.

But is a Presidential Race really feasible?

Why not start with something more attainable and just as important in the march to freedom and liberty?

I think Ron Paul should really consider running for Governor of Texas in 2010!   With this campaign behind him and all the media attention he's received over the last year he would be extremely competitive!

What do you think??

Poll: Should Ron Paul run for Governor of Texas in 2010?

Yes, I think he would be the ideal choice to begin the process of pressing State's rights and the Tenth Amendment
No, I think he does his best work in the Congress where the real fight is...
Don't Know...
