Hey Folks,
Last week we had our biggest meeting yet and our guest speaker gave some great insights into what it is like being a city councilor, what it takes to get elected, and what goes on at city hall. We also discussed some local and state issues.
After the meeting adjourned, some of us continued the discussion at the coffee shop down the street.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 19th at the Gresham Library main meeting room--the same place as the last time.
I am looking for ideas for the meeting, so if you have any, throw them my way.
Also, not related to the meeting, did anyone notice that Senator Wyden is making what appears to be an honest effort to fight the "Patriot" Act. See the Wired story here. What do you make of that?

This evening I went to the Fairview City Council planning session (which is before the actual meeting) and talked with city councilor Ken Quinby. I asked if he would be willing to speak at our next C4L meeting and he said he would.
He is a staunch Constitutionalist and will be able to give us some insights into city government, getting elected, and making a difference in our communities. His city council profile is here.
It will be interesting folks! I hope to see you there.
Here is a link to the calendar event so you can RSVP.

Hey Folks,
One of our members here in District 3 has created a Facebook group to help people connect and stay on top of what is going on in our area.
Anyone who has a Facebook account can join, so go ahead:
C4L-Oregon, District 3
Don't forget, our general meeting is coming up in one week (plus a day)!
Edit: I originally had the wrong link! Whoops, I corrected it. This link should work:

Hey folks,
Since our last meeting we have gotten a lot more things rolling for C4L members to take advantage of and get involved in. These are all on the C4L calendar and if you can make it, please RSVP through the calendar.
First, we have a lesson on urban gardening given by Mary Saunders. This will be an excellent chance to learn how to turn your back yard into a food producing garden.
Second, we are starting a book club. Matt Fox (the county coordinator) is helping out a lot by hosting it. Our first book will be a short audio book by Tom Woods.
Third, our general meeting will be at the library. This time, I was able to get the big meeting room so we can show videos.
We're just getting started here in this district and could use all the help and involvement we can find. So, if you can make it to any of the events, please do!

Cliff Hutchison Portland, OR | Hi Brian,
Thanks for posting this message! I had not checked this calendar in a while, but I visit the C4L website every time I get on the web. Now the calendar is bookmarked for me to easily check it every time, too. |

Thanks to those who showed up for our first meeting! We had a good time and some thought-provoking discussion. We also agreed to have our next meeting at the same time (third Tuesday of the month, 6:30) in February. This location is not set for sure, keep an eye on your calendar for details.
After the meeting a few of us got together at the coffee shop down the street. As you can imagine, you can't get a table full of liberty-minded folks going without it lasting at least an hour. :)

Joel Redmond, OR | That is so awesome! If I can ever come I will! Keep me posted on your progress. We have to take the initiative in Oregon to keep the liberty movement alive. Lets get some of these other districts motivated! |
