The longer I volunteer my time and money for my country the more I realize how much it is really going to take to bring about change. I admit its been a slow process for me. At first I gave a little time, money or whatever. At the time I thought I was giving a lot. Well, I look over the whole year and see that it was very little. It is even less when I think about what is truly important to me. Then I compare it to what the founders gave and its a minute amount. We will never have a real idea of everything the founders sacrificed to provide us with what we have today. There lives were devoted to it. They were men who knew what they were about.
I see very few people willing to sacrifice anything let along everything. Everything is what it just may take. What is a little time or money spent in saving our country? What good are the comforts of life right now if we know they will not last?
We have a incredible responsibility of holding the last true flame of personal liberty in the world. We have great duty. It stretches back over 200 years to all the people that have died for us. So we could be free today. It also stretched forward to our posterity. Do you not feel it?
Look at other country's around the world. Look at the lack of personal freedom they have. Are we willing to sit back and accept it as fate for us? Is the fight over? It is unwinnable? Is there no hope? I say that if it is unwinnable in your own heart and you have no hope within, then the fight is truly over. Give up now and don't bother fighting. Submit your self as a slave to the state.
Samuel Adams said...
"If you love wealth more than liberty, and if you prefer the tranquility of servitude rather than the animated contest of freedom, then go home in peace. We seek neither your counsel nor your arms. But bend down and lick the hands that feed you; and may your chains rest lightly upon you. And may posterity forget that you were our countryman. "
Even in our own county the chains we are wearing get heaver. We are fast becoming slaves to the state. Yet at the same time we have the power to rise up and become the master again.
Let us not look back and say "We did not know what opportunity and freedom we had in this country until it was utterly lost" and then think about what we should have done. Can we not learn from history and see what freedom we have in this country even at this late hour? The future is not set. It never has been. There are only possible futures. It it truly up to us. What do you want and what are you willing to do to get it?
Words are meaningless. Everything is in action.
If you don't stand up and fight for your freedom who will? Your actions will show how important freedom is to you.
I am grateful the founders of this country sacrificed what they did for us. I hope you are to. However it means nothing if we don't act upon that gratefulness. They knew what it was worth to them. There actions proved it.
I ask you. What is freedom worth to you? Let your actions be your answer.
