My name is Matt Stewart and I am a life long Republican who believes Ron Paul's Liberty Movement is our country's last hope. I am in my mid thirties, middle class, and I fear for my children's future. Freedom and liberty are on the ropes, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
A system where individualism is subverted by an authority, for the purpose of equalizing the group of which the individual belongs; little to no regard is paid to accountability.
Not satisfied w/ the book definitions I have read, and I have been asked at times by statists to share what I believe to be socialism, I figured it is long past time I formulate my own concise modern definition of what we are up against.

The Government Stimulus sailed through the US House of Representatives today (246-183). None of our representatives voting could have possibly read the bill before the vote, or could have possibly known what exactly is contained within; but never fear America, Charlie Rangel has a firm handle on things:
Rangel's comments in the youtube above could have come straight out of an Ayn Rand novel; James Taggert is that you? Seriously though, although I am in no way surprised about the Government Stimulus bill passing in the US House, not in the least, I am still shocked about what is occurring around us. I don't know, maybe it's shell shock. Maybe it's a cumulative effect of the last couple years. I guess that is the price we pay for enlightenment. Our way of life is collapsing around us and we know it.
What do we do now? Do we sink to the depths of the abyss w/ our eyes open? Do we succumb to our feelings of helplessness? Or are we going to act? And if we act, what should our course be? Whatever we are doing currently is failing. Should we play nice and work within the framework that is stacked against us? Should we engage in acts of civil disobedience? Revolution is in my heart.

This country is in serious trouble, mates. The audacious ignorance of our electorate is stunning, not to mention EXTREMELY dangerous. Here are two of our fellow voters interacting w/ President Obama:
If it weren't so scary, it would be funny. No wonder we are where we are. At our current course, we will be in the abyss of a full blown socialist/welfare state in no time flat.

As worried as I have been about what President Obama and his government might do with what's left of my liberty and freedom, Ron Paul reels me back in. The good doctor's appearance on Glenn Beck was a sobering reminder that this country's monetary reckoning is coming. Whatever damaging and offensive things our new President and his henchmen think they have up their sleeves, it will all be for not. There will be no escaping the tsunami that is bearing down upon us.
On a side note: Cheers to Glenn Beck. More and more, Glenn is coming around, and he has given Ron Paul and our movement an excellent platform to be heard. I couldn't be happier that this emerging ally now has a bigger audience than ever at FoxNews. The exposure is as good as gold. Score one for the good guys.
This is why, I believe, it is crucial to put people in place in the GOP right now, to be in position to promote the Constitutionalist candidates from within the GOP, in order to hold our guy up in 2012, 2016 as the solution to the late great depression.
And then we really pull it off, pulling our nation out of a new great depression with the correct application of 'less government interference' principles.
Have the Republicans fresh in January 2010, post a bill to ban all government sponsored bailouts buyouts and rescue packages for ten years. A bunch of behemoth banks collapse and dissolve, carrying trillions of artificial fortunes with them. Around May-June 2011, the surviving banks, new ones, and the ones that were held in integrity, inherit the depository and credit markets, and the GDP climbs north from debt. July-Aug 2012, China is paid in full, and a series of new legislative checks have been installed, to protect against future offenses to the Constitution.
Oval Office 2012, we run a hard-core Constitutionalist strict constructionist for office. The radical version of Senator Robert Taft, if you will. Break open the concepts of REAL Republican government and implant them deeply into the public's mind, (let Obama's policies continue to fail, and drive the US deeper into the WPA-NEW DEAL style depression recovery) setting up someone like BJ Lawson for 2016, with a mandate to remake the Federal Government over again in the image of the Constitution, and a sitting Congress to pass laws to make it harder to violate the law when writing them.
We have to get out of debt and we have to get out of debt right now! If we allow things to continue along their current path, China will soon have us on their leash, commercially and fiscally.
I say, whatever it takes, pay China back right away. Get our country out of hock, and then encourage the growth of high-growth production economies in various sectors.
Encourage regional and local competition through the lifting of domestic trade restrictions, and once we have restored the industrial base that has atrophied, encourage international competition through the opening of global markets.
Government interference has created a debt-based economy. The removal of government interference, will restore a wealth based economy.
Understanding that the same goods will be available in the same markets, but the currency indexes may take a year to normalize, a severe depression does not have to last for years and years.
The market will produce it's own goods and services, and the marketplace will decide what it no longer needs. The government that decides what the market needs, has gone from freedom to fascism.
The deadline to register GOP in North Carolina is 30 Jan, applications must be turned into the Board of Elections, in order to participate in the 2009 convention cycle.
Glen - You mentioned BJ Lawson. I really hate that he is not in Congress right now. That Price district is about as deep blue as they get, however. BJ never had a chance, especially w/ the Messiah on the ticket. Oh well, at least he was getting the message out there.

January 20th, Inauguration Day, 2009
I am very pessimistic about our new President and his intentions. I find it quite bothersome that Obama is doing whatever he can to connect his presidency to that of Lincoln's; "The Great Centralizer", civil liberties monster, enemy of liberty, war monger, war criminal, and empire builder.
Obama has outlined plans for his own Civil Army; "Organizing for America", feet on the street to "protect his brand" and "forward his agenda" at the neighborhood level. Silly me, I though the President of these United States was supposed to do such things through Constitutional processes. What he is proposing reminds me of something that would go on in a totalitarian society.... Soviet Union, Cuba, North Korea, China, etc... Hitler Youth, Brownshirts, Hugo Chavez's redshirts kind of stuff. Follow the web address to find out what our 44th President had to say to his supporters on the topic:
Obama last July talks about a "civilian national security force":
------------------------------------------------
Obama, July 2, Colorado Springs, CO: [As] president I will expand AmeriCorps to 250,000 slots [from 75,000] and make that increased service a vehicle to meet national goals, like providing health care and education, saving our planet and restoring our standing in the world, so that citizens see their effort connected to a common purpose.
People of all ages, stations and skills will be asked to serve. Because when it comes to the challenges we face, the American people are not the problem – they are the answer. So we are going to send more college graduates to teach and mentor our young people. We'll call on Americans to join an energy corps, to conduct renewable energy and environmental clean-up projects in their neighborhoods all across the country.
We will enlist our veterans to find jobs and support for other vets, and to be there for our military families. And we're going to grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy.
We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. We need to use technology to connect people to service. We'll expand USA Freedom Corps to create online networks where American can browse opportunities to volunteer. You'll be able to search by category, time commitment and skill sets. You'll be able to rate service opportunities, build service networks, and create your own service pages to track your hours and activities.
This will empower more Americans to craft their own service agenda and make their own change from the bottom up. ______________________________________
Melanie Philips from the UK Daily Mail writes:
"Saul Alinsky, the immensely influential far-left ideologue who invented the role of grass-roots ‘community organiser’ that Obama filled for so many years, laid out in his book Rules for Radicals that the revolution could only be brought about by stealth politics.
This is what he wrote: ‘This is the job for today’s radical - to fan the embers of hopelessness into a flame to fight. To say, ‘You cannot turn away - look at it - let us change it together!’ ‘Look at us. We are your children. Let us not abandon each other for then we are all lost. Together we can change it for what we want...it is a job first of bringing hope and doing what every organiser must do with all people, all classes, places and times - communicate the means or tactics whereby the people can feel that they have the power to do this and that and on
'Tactics must begin with the experience of the middle class, accepting their aversion to rudeness, vulgarity and conflict. Start them easy, don’t scare them off...Tactics such as stock proxies and others are waiting to be hurled into the attack...’
‘Change’ and ‘hope’: does that strike a chord with anyone? Just bear this in mind when you hear today’s soaring rhetoric as America’s 44th president is sworn in."
Am I the only one that finds this stuff completely CREEPY? Is American individualism on its deathbed? Honestly I read his words and I see something that has the potential to be the beginnings of a modern socialist police state. Obama is a great admirer of all things Lincoln, should we expect a secret police named after William H. Seward?
The question is, what are freedom loving people in this country going to do to resist the heavy hand of government that is coming under President Obama. Hopefully the C4L will be a beacon of hope during these dark days ahead.
“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” -- George Washington
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined." -- Patrick Henry
Lincoln ripped away from free men the right to govern themselves, one of the principal rights that our Founders fought so hard to achieve. He destroyed the rights of states and empowered the overbearing federal government that has led to 140 years of oppression and usurpation of our rights and privacy. Being a Southerner, I always knew that Lincoln's war was never about slavery, but I have Dr. Thomas Woods to thank for truly enlightening me about the repercussions of that terrible man's presidency. Do I have similar destruction to look forward to during Obama's reign? Whether he's a Lincoln, or an FDR, he will act as though he knows what's better for me--how I should live my life. He will destroy my money, disgrace my Constitution, and tax me to death. I await their malicious policies with a hardy breath, indeed!
