I am self employed - a Real Estate Agent!  The turn of economic events have had an immediate impact on my business, but I am also a dedicated optimist!  I have resolved to keep an eye on how I am being represented in Washington, D.C. and in Columbia, SC.  I believe that the very people we have put in office to represent our best interests, have little interest in us, primarily because people (like me) haven't been watching.

I have been guilty of naivety and apathy, in assuming that our representatives are social and economic conservatives.  I made the assumption that I could find out how my representatives vote on the issues, and have been disappointed to learn that the opposite is true.  It is (past) time to stand up and demand accountability from our representatives on all levels.  We stood up (by voting) for them.  Now, it's time to see if they are standing up for us!

Below, is an email sent to Sen Graham.  Am I right?  Am I losing my mind?  Help!!!

Senator Graham,
I continue to be amazed and confused by your UN-conservative voting on the bailout issue.  Why can't people and businesses fail?  Our country is full of successful people and companies that failed - more than once.  This bailout money DOESN'T EXIST!!!  It is monopoly money.  You all up there in Washington have suspended reality.  For example:

$620,000,000 for a Visitors (BASEMENT) Center???  Are you kidding?  $550,000,000 OVER budget AND 3 years?  WHAT is going on up there?

Giving a bailout, bridgeloan, etc. to the automakers is ridiculous.  The reason?  Because the UAW won't compromise or help.  It's all about power/money.  If the UAW doesn't want to sacrifice, why should WE???  I'm am VERY disturbed, angry, suspect, and a lot of other words...

Your votes are contributing to making the United States of America, MY COUNTRY, a socialist, entitlement state.  STOP IT, PLEASE!!!  If the people of this country want to be happy, they're going to have to WORK for it.  Government is not the answer - it is the problem.

Do you know what picture blazes in my mind?  It is the one of Pres-elect Obama, with Sen. John McCain sitting to his right, and YOU sitting to the right of Sen. McCain.  Sen. Graham, you have lost my confidence and my vote, for the time being,  If you want it back - earn it!  Stop playing the middle.  Get a backbone.  Follow the lead of your fellow Senator from this great state, Senator Jim DeMint and your Governor, Mark Sanford.  These men are LEADERS!  Don't be one of the sheep - be a shepherd.  Care for and protect your stewardship.  Look out for the interests of South Carolina, not your buddies up there in Washington, D.C.
