Spot on as usual Dr. Paul. I will add that in reference to the Nobel Prize winner, that organization is crooked in my opinion.

I haven't seen such a great straight-to-the-point, informative interview by Paul in a while. I really liked this interview it was like Ron Paul was on his game today.

That was a nice, respectful interview. It gives me hope that people are getting a chance to hear what is going on. Thanks Dr.Paul for spreading the message so well!

My daily dose of Ron Paul I feel good now. He cured another days apathy knowing that at least one guy in our government gets it. To bad nobody else does.

The Nobel Prize economist want to Dazzle us with Brilliance, or Baffle us with Bullsh#t!

Dr. Paul again lays it out in simple, easy to understand terms.

Every point made by Ron Paul was straight-forward and easily understood. He is doing a great job counteracting the falsehoods spread by the unConstitutional coup: that the free market caused the problems.

I was especially delighted to hear how Dr. Paul distinguished between the economic quacks - like Paul Krugman, who won the Nobel Prize for Wackonomics - and the Austrians and to hear the names of Mises, Hayek and Rothbard!

There is no one better at educating people about classical liberalism than Ron Paul. As the Champion of the Constitution he will drain the cesspool where the unConstitutional coup and its minions slither about.

The very best I have heard yet. He tempered his responses as not to provide too much information all at once and got very respectful treatment from CNN. Almost like they are catching on!

Dr. Paul, I agree, we shouldn't be involved at all. They've been fighting since the beginning of time practically.

P.S. I loved the intro!

I'm skeptical with the conventional wisdom that "this has been going for hundreds of years," the "that's just the way it is" logic. I find the present situation in the Middle East to be the consequence of the dominant geopolitical agenda of the West over the twentieth century, and don't believe the old "clash of civilizations" mythology helps the situation.

Other than that, I concur completely with Dr. Paul's analysis.

I don't think it's a "that's just the way it is" logic, I think it's more of a why should we make everybody's problem our problems as well?

Fu Manchu,

I once foolishly went through an airport security checkpoint wearing a "free Palestine" tee shirt. The guy in the uniform snarled at me: "So you think Palestinians should be free?"

I told him yes, I think all people should be.

The guy tosses me my bag, still leering, says "it's been going on thousands of years."

In effect, he was saying, "just shut up and don't think about it."

The "hundreds of years" argument is never meant to be dissected and analyzed; even as Dr. Paul used it, it was in the context of "it's not our business," which while perfectly sensible as American foreign policy does not get into assessing which side is right or wrong; it just insinuates that nobody knows and it doesn't matter.

Which I disagree with. I think it does matter that it is understood which side is the aggressor.

Not to say that we should take sides. I believe that on a higher level, Israel is probably being set up to be the next scapegoat; that the U.N.'s principled record of condemning Israeli war crimes will be used following a collapse of the American economy to justify surrendering our sovereignty to the U.N.

Here's how it'll work: the central banks won't be blamed for the collapse of the economy, so it'll be blamed on "the war," i.e. the neo-cons. With that characterization, the globalist Left can paint the U.N. as voice of "reason" that opposed the war, but was unable to stop the right-wing Zionists.

Think the mass media will stand up as Zionists against the globalists? I doubt it. As Finkelstein observed, people like David Ben-Gurion, authentic Zionists, lived modestly and died for Eretz Israel. The top brass in the "Israel lobby" is interested in Israel only as a road to power. Now that the America's conservative community is in shambles and all political power flows through the Left, watch for more and more left-wing Zionists to concede that Israel is a problem state and the U.N. was right all along.

But as Ron Paul sometimes says of his economic predictions, "I hope I'm wrong."

Adam your predictions sound pretty accurate to me. I hope you didn't misunderstand what I meant though. It's not that I don't care, I do, but as you pointed out, as far as American foreign policy goes we shouldn't get or be involved. We should have more of a "silent observer" approach in my opinion. Wouldn't it be great if this nation were always the Switzerland our founders envisioned? Not saying Switzerland is perfect, just their history of neutrality, which I'm sure you're well aware of.

I think we should stay out; this is a problem between Gaza and Israel. Granted the US, EU and UN have all contributed to this mess our "help" would only make it worse now. We funneled money and guns to both sides. As for the conditions in Gaza I think the world has contributed to that just as much as Israel as well as the leadership within Gaza, that being Hamas. Considering this thing has gotten so out of hand that blame can not be place on one, such as Israel will be by the UN for their agression and Gaza by the US for lobbing rockets into Israel for an extended period of time provoking it. This is not premption by Israel and even if it was it should be none of our concern, it is the result of the meddeling of those that want power, control, money and globalization.

There are flares, but there are also these things that make showers of something. Are they using white phosphorus again?

Sure looks like it. Of course, it's not newsworthy when they use borderline chemical weapons in front of the world news media. No story there. Nope.

It is a tradition that Carol and I send a family Christmas card every year to our supporters and friends across the country. We met so many great people this year and tried to include everyone, but I am sure we had a few computer glitches and missed a few folks we shouldn't have. So, we wanted to make sure eveyone saw our card so we could share our holiday wishes with eveyone.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

December 2, 2008

Dear friend of Liberty,

This past presidential season I saw a renewed enthusiasm from our country’s youth.

An excitement for liberty gripped the college campuses unlike I have ever seen before. Young people were energized for real change.

Still to my amazement, our college rallies attracted thousands of young people. Students were hungry for the message of freedom, peace, and prosperity.

For this reason, a youth-based movement for liberty is essential to our cause. It is these young men and women who will become tomorrow’s champions of liberty.

That's why I am giving my enthusiastic endorsement to Young Americans for Liberty (YAL); an organization that is built directly on the success of Students for Ron Paul.

My National Youth Coordinator, Jeff Frazee, is launching this organization with an ambitious goal of starting over 100 campus chapters in 2009. They have already started 47 chapters this semester.

Jeff worked with me exclusively to start the Campaign for Liberty (C4L) and host the Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis. Now, he is leaving to follow his real passion and lead Young Americans for Liberty.

The Campaign for Liberty has supplied $25,000 in seed money to help start YAL. I hope you will join in support as well.

Young Americans for Liberty is the continuation of Students for Ron Paul.

Students for Ron Paul established over 500 college chapters in all 50 states. Over 26,000 students joined our campaign. With this network and my support, Young Americans for Liberty is essential to building a genuine liberty movement in America.

You and I must remain serious about our ideas and goals. I am. I believe you are too.

Back in the 1960s, an influential youth movement formed around another anti-establishment presidential candidate. His name was Barry Goldwater. The organization was called Young Americans for Freedom; and without it, we may have never seen Ronald Reagan in the White House.

I have high hopes for Young Americans for Liberty, and wish them a similar fortune.

Please visit the Young Americans for Liberty website, sign up for their weekly E-Newsletter, and read about their plans for next semester.

Their website is at http://www.YALiberty.org

The importance of YAL to the future of liberty cannot be overstated.

Young people have the passion, energy, and dedication that many of you can relate to from this past year and a half. But, young people do not have very much money. It is up to you and me to give them our support.

So please go to Young Americans for Liberty's website http://www.YALiberty.org , sign up for their free E-Newsletter, and read about the future of our youth.

In liberty,

P.S. – Join me today to continue the Revolution on campus. Please visit the Young Americans for Liberty website http://www.YALiberty.org to read about their mission and join their effort.

Madame Speaker, many Americans are hoping the new administration will solve the economic problems we face. That's not likely to happen, because the economic advisors to the new President have no more understanding of how to get us out of this mess than previous administrations and Congresses understood how the crisis was brought about in the first place.

Except for a rare few, Members of Congress are unaware of Austrian Free Market economics. For the last 80 years, the legislative, judiciary and executive branches of our government have been totally influenced by Keynesian economics. If they had had any understanding of the Austrian economic explanation of the business cycle, they would have never permitted the dangerous bubbles that always lead to painful corrections.

Today, a major economic crisis is unfolding. New government programs are started daily, and future plans are being made for even more. All are based on the belief that we're in this mess because free- market capitalism and sound money failed. The obsession is with more spending, bailouts of bad investments, more debt, and further dollar debasement. Many are saying we need an international answer to our problems with the establishment of a world central bank and a single fiat reserve currency. These suggestions are merely more of the same policies that created our mess and are doomed to fail.

At least 90% of the cause for the financial crisis can be laid at the doorstep of the Federal Reserve. It is the manipulation of credit, the money supply, and interest rates that caused the various bubbles to form. Congress added fuel to the fire by various programs and institutions like the Community Reinvestment Act, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, FDIC, and HUD mandates, which were all backed up by aggressive court rulings.

The Fed has now doled out close to $2 trillion in subsidized loans to troubled banks and other financial institutions. The Federal Reserve and Treasury constantly brag about the need for "transparency" and "oversight," but it's all just talk – they want none of it. They want secrecy while the privileged are rescued at the expense of the middle class.

It is unimaginable that Congress could be so derelict in its duty. It does nothing but condone the arrogance of the Fed in its refusal to tell us where the $2 trillion has gone. All Members of Congress and all Americans should be outraged that conditions could deteriorate to this degree. It's no wonder that a large and growing number of Americans are now demanding an end to the Fed.

The Federal Reserve created our problem, yet it manages to gain even more power in the socialization of the entire financial system. The whole bailout process this past year was characterized by no oversight, no limits, no concerns, no understanding, and no common sense.

Similar mistakes were made in the 1930s and ushered in the age of the New Deal, the Fair Deal, the Great Society and the supply-siders who convinced conservatives that deficits didn't really matter after all, since they were anxious to finance a very expensive deficit- financed American empire.

All the programs since the Depression were meant to prevent recessions and depressions. Yet all that was done was to plant the seeds of the greatest financial bubble in all history. Because of this lack of understanding, the stage is now set for massive nationalization of the financial system and quite likely the means of production.

Although it is obvious that the Keynesians were all wrong and interventionism and central economic planning don't work, whom are we listening to for advice on getting us out of this mess? Unfortunately, it's the Keynesians, the socialists, and big- government proponents.

Who's being ignored? The Austrian free-market economists – the very ones who predicted not only the Great Depression, but the calamity we're dealing with today. If the crisis was predictable and is explainable, why did no one listen? It's because too many politicians believed that a free lunch was possible and a new economic paradigm had arrived. But we've heard that one before – like the philosopher' s stone that could turn lead into gold. Prosperity without work is a dream of the ages.

Over and above this are those who understand that political power is controlled by those who control the money supply. Liberals and conservatives, Republicans and Democrats came to believe, as they were taught in our universities, that deficits don't matter and that Federal Reserve accommodation by monetizing debt is legitimate and never harmful. The truth is otherwise. Central economic planning is always harmful. Inflating the money supply and purposely devaluing the dollar is always painful and dangerous.

The policies of big-government proponents are running out of steam. Their policies have failed and will continue to fail. Merely doing more of what caused the crisis can hardly provide a solution.

The good news is that Austrian economists are gaining more acceptance every day and have a greater chance of influencing our future than they've had for a long time.

The basic problem is that proponents of big government require a central bank in order to surreptitiously pay bills without direct taxation. Printing needed money delays the payment. Raising taxes would reveal the true cost of big government, and the people would revolt. But the piper will be paid, and that's what this crisis is all about.

There are limits. A country cannot forever depend on a central bank to keep the economy afloat and the currency functionable through constant acceleration of money supply growth. Eventually the laws of economics will overrule the politicians, the bureaucrats and the central bankers. The system will fail to respond unless the excess debt and mal-investment is liquidated. If it goes too far and the wild extravagance is not arrested, runaway inflation will result, and an entirely new currency will be required to restore growth and reasonable political stability.

The choice we face is ominous: We either accept world-wide authoritarian government holding together a flawed system, OR we restore the principles of the Constitution, limit government power, restore commodity money without a Federal Reserve system, reject world government, and promote the cause of peace by protecting liberty equally for all persons. Freedom is the answer.
