Regular member Location: Champaign, IL Last login: 12/13/11 RSS feedI study history and theology, and I support liberty. My profile picture is Grover Cleveland, president from 1885-1889 and 1893-1897. Although he had his shortcomings, Cleveland, as the leader of the laissez-faire wing of the Democratic Party, fought to uphold the gold standard and to lower the tariff; vetoed reams of unconstitutional legislation; and opposed the creation of an American empire, refusing to annex Hawaii and resisting pressure to intervene in Spain's brutal suppression of the Cuban insurgency. I support Ron Paul in 2012 because I am confident that if he is elected, he will fight the same battles as Cleveland. He will advocate returning to sound money by auditing the Federal Reserve and allowing competing currencies, and lowering the tax burden by repealing the income tax; he will veto reams of unconstitutional legislation; and he will begin dismantling the American empire by bringing the troops home from the wars in Afghanistan-Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Libya, and from wealthy allied nations like Korea, Japan, and Germany that are quite capable of defending themselves. But he will also be on the front lines of battles that Cleveland did not have to fight, since the Federal government has grown so much in size and scope since the late 19th century. He will veto any unbalanced budget that is passed. He will advocate:
Ron Paul is the only candidate who has sufficient knowledge of history, economics, and philosophy to understand what policies are necessary to promote freedom, prosperity, and peace. He is the only candidate with the courage needed to resist the strong urge to compromise on matters of principle. Check out my YouTube channel: www.youtube/user/RMMHS4RP There you will find a variety of liberty-related videos that I've favorited, featuring Murray Rothbard, John Stossel, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Robert Higgs, Tom Woods, Milton Friedman, and of course, Ron Paul. |
