If this report from Thomas Woods, by way of a blog on lewrockwell.com, is correct, I am very disappointed in Ken Cuccinelli:
Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli is urging Tea Partiers not to support the idea of state interposition. According to a report, "Attorney Gen. Cuccinelli, in private consultations with the Roanoke group, agreed, noting how Southern states had unsuccessfully invoked the doctrine in the 1960s to resist federal civil-rights legislation. ‘Interposition had a place in history, I told them, and it is not an exalted one,' Mr. Cuccinelli said."
Mr. Cuccinelli is apparently unaware of the history of interposition, also known as nullification. It has been used to support liberty, such as in Wisconsin's refusal to enforce the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. And let us grant that it can be used for evil purposes: does that make the principle itself evil? That is a logical fallacy of immense proportions.
I believe that the central government is broken beyond repair. The only possible path to regaining liberty is through action by the states. Interposition at first, secession if that doesn't work. Asking the central government's courts to limit the power of the central government, as Mr. Cuccinelli has done, is a losing game. Jefferson and Madison made that very point in the resolutions of 1798. It won't be any different, except possibly far worse, now that the central government has usurped essentially total power.
I had high hopes for Ken Cuccinelli. But right now he seems to be another political hack who talks a good game about liberty, but has no intention of really fighting for it.

This evening, I received an email from Senator John Warner touting his support for the "financial reform" bill. Here was my response to him:
Regarding the email that you sent about the financial "reform" bill, I can only say: what a crock. If you had the slightest clue about economics or the Constitution, you would be apologizing for supporting that monstrosity. Though, in your defense, you likely did not bother to read what was in it, so I guess you can be excused for thinking you have done something wonderful.
You and your ilk are incompetent fools who think you are somehow superior to us, your employers. You will find differently when it is time for re-election. You have consistently screwed us Virginians over in favor of the special interests that pay your way. That will come to an end. Virginia has awakened to your scam and you will pay the price at the polls next time around.

To all my fellow C4L members, happy 4th of July, marking the anniversary of the secession of the American colonies from the government in London.
It is dismaying to see the militaristic--rah rah for the empire--tone of celebrations these days. Let us not forget that the real lesson of the 4th of July is that it is the right of oppressed people to withdraw from the government that is tyrannizing them. Remember these quotes from the famed declaration that was signed on this date:
"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government."
"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
To a brighter future for all of us, free from the despots in Washington.

"Every year, CNBC's Squawk Box quizzes some of the superbowl players on current financial issues. I only caught a little of it this morning, when they were asked to identify a photo of Ben Bernanke. One untutored guy was full of wisdom: 'I don't know who he is, but he looks like a crook. He looks like he would take every single thing you have.'"
That does pretty well sum up Bernanke and the Fed, doesn't it?

Dear Senator Webb/Warner:
Your vote in favor of the so-called health care bill was another kick in the gut for us Virginians. Let me remind you : you are supposed to represent US...not the special interests who pay your way. If you can't find it in your heart to support ordinary citizens who can't afford to buy your vote, you should resign in shame. We don't need you , and we don't want you.
This is the last time I will bother to write to you. You are obviously bought and paid for, and couldn't care less what we Virginians think. In the future, my political efforts will focus on getting Virginia to secede from the fascist nation that you invariably vote to establish. If that fails, I will flee this country. Yes, after more than 10 years as an active duty Marine officer, I am willing to leave this nation. I served to preserve the liberty of Americans, not to support the totalitarian regime that you are embracing.

 Caleb Kinley Hot Springs, AR | I wouldn't stop writing; that's exactly what he wants to hear. He wants you to give up, stop watching his votes, etc. Write back and tell him you were only kidding about not writing again..:-)

Good job!
Don't quit writing , though. Caleb Kinley is right! We must all keep up the pressure.
They won't resign in shame, their parents didn't instill any sense of worth in them.
The 2010 elections have as much importance as any election in the history of our nation. Get to work and help the 'right' thinking candidates get elected.
The special election in Mass. has the liberals running around in circles pulling their hair out. We're WINNING!
