Sign the Petition to Keep Private Property Rights in Indiana

Kill the Smoking Ban!

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/usa/IN/Stopthesmokingban.php

The government does not have the right to invade private property rights and force its will on the private businesses of our great state.  The smoking ban is not about people's health.  It's about who decides what you can and can not do on your own private property!

If you do not fight for your rights TODAY then the government will not stop here.  The nanny state will continue to expand and invade all of your private property including your home and your car.

Not only is this an extreme violation of your private property rights it is extremely damaging to the economy because it drives some people to stay home instead of go out.  The people who wanted the ban have not increased their traffic to these bars to make up for lost business.  As a result many bars around the state are going out of business.

You've heard the argument; the bar owners' property rights and smokers' personal liberty are small sacrifices for the greater good of society.

Wrong.

Liberty lost is never good for society; in the words of John Stuart Mill: "the danger which threatens human nature is not excess but deficiency of personal impulses and preferences."

A truly free society allows diversity of choice, diversity of lifestyle and opinion.  The greater threat to health, to liberty and happiness is a government that knows no bounds.   There can be no denying that the smoking ban is a step in the direction of tyranny.   Not only that, but the ban diverts law enforcement resources away from serious crimes, like rape, robbery and murder.

This isn't about smoking.  This is about liberty and individual sovereignty and the tyranny of the majority.  Together we must stand up for our liberty today, sign the petition below!

School referendums in Indiana

Well I got a few emails that schools around Indiana and including my district will have a question on the ballot to raise property tax to give more money to the schools

I could only laugh (and not in a humorous way but in a sad way) as they also just voted in my district to close 5 schools including the one where I live and just bought a home.

First I want to say I will be voting NO on this for a few reasons I will list below

  • 1. I am taxed enough already right now and with no one knowing what Jan 1st will bring with politicians playing Russian Roulette with our money, I can't have more coming out for schools.
  • 2. If they are closing 5 schools in my area, I would think that would help with the budget, but no they are closing schools AND asking for more money, go figure...
  • 3. If only these local districts would fight as hard to get us OUT of the vile Federal Department of Education, they would see that money could be saved and used right there. (I hope you do realize this department that employees over 5000 people takes our money from the states, takes out their salaries and their benefit money then decide how much they should send back to each state AND how each should use that money). Call me old fashioned but I bet Indiana can figure out how to use school dollars better then Washington DC and not even send all our money back, another great Ponzi scheme by the Federal Government.
  • 4. The really sad part is Teachers are using public school related emails to send out that we must vote for this and videos that they are playing during school hours to our kids. when one liberty friend of mine asked to put out a video with why she thinks this is not a good idea the school told her no.

I am going to have to tell the schools what we are all feeling now.....NO RAISES for anyone live with in your means.

Really sad/funny part is I heard that they also have money in a "building account" so they can build new schools but cant use that money for existing schools....haha and who has their priorities messed up.

So in my area they are closing schools to build a new joint one...maybe it is so the Federal Government will be able to say they created jobs

I sure agree with all those points now if only others would agree with this. What a wonderful world it would be to keep the government out of our business.

Point 3 really reminds me of the 1947 Indiana General Assembly House Concurrent Resolution No. 2.

http://www.fff.org/comment/com0211g.asp

"INDIANA needs no guardian and intends to have none. We Hoosiers — like the people of our sister states — were fooled for quite a spell with the magician’s trick that a dollar taxed out of our pockets and sent to Washington, will be bigger when it comes back to us. We have taken a good look at said dollar. We find that it lost weight in its journey to Washington and back. The political brokerage of the bureaucrats has been deducted. We have decided that there is no such this as “federal” aid. We know that there is no wealth to tax that is not already within the boundaries of the 48 states."

"SO WE PROPOSE henceforward to tax ourselves and take care of ourselves. We are fed up with subsidies, doles, and paternalism. We are no one’s stepchild. We have grown up. We serve notice that we will resist Washington, D.C., adopting us."

Sounds a lot like the Tenth-Amendment-based nullification movement of 2010.

I don't see Ron Paul coming back to Indiana any time soon. I hear there is an after party at the Irish Lion downtown 10 pm (RONSTOCK!)
See you there!
