So what's my story?

I was not politically active for most of my life. Sure I'd have superficial opinions on political issues and events every once in a while and would get in heated discussions at other times, but politics was never anything I had a desire to be a part of.

After working a few years in the telecom field as an outside plant engineer, I realized how important business and management was. That is when I decided to get a business degree and where my eyes were opened to the exciting field of business, finance, and economics. I learned all I could about investments, finance, and economics during my graduate years and I felt that I finally found where my passion and talents lie. It was also during that time I felt more and more comfortable with the ideas of laissez faire capitalism and free markets. I was introduced to the traditional theories of Keynesian economics, Monetarism, Supply-side economics, Neo-classical ideas and sought after as much knowledge as I could.   After graduating with an MBA in 2003, I researched all I could about economics on the Internet. Economics is afterall crucial for my chosen field. I researched a variety of different websites and I was particularly attracted to hard-asset/gold-bug/Austrian economic ideas. Every once in a while I came across and read online articles from Congressman Ron Paul who I thought discussed economic ideas so clearly. So off I went to work in the finance field to become a financial and investment advisor.

In the meantime I got more and more upset with the US occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan and the preemptive Neocon foreign policy.   I remember going to one Libertarian group meeting in 2004, but it was more for networking purposes than anything else and that was as far as I went in regards to politics.  Everything changed one fateful day in mid-May 2007. As part of my daily routine of watching various videos from the then nascent website called YouTube, I came across a video of Ron Paul debating Rudy Giuliani about US foreign policy. I was amazed. I realized this was the same Congressman I had read articles from years earlier. I was struck by how clear and logical Ron Paul's reasoning was and how closely aligned they were to mine. I soon watched video after video after video.. From that moment on until after the primaries was a whirlwind... I could hardly remember what happened next.... Everything was a blur... the r3volution sign making, the street corner sign waving, and passing of flyers at the San Francisco ferry building...the rallies in Berkeley and Mountain View... the ten foot high End the War Ron Paul '08 banners we made and held over the Marina overpass in Berkeley and the thousands of honks we got... Operation Live Free or Die in New Hampshire...the Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis... precinct walking in the streets of San Francisco and in the snow in New Hampshire ... the media blackouts.. the Ron Paul Blimp... the record making money bombs and thousands of YouTube videos... watching Ron Paul's debates and his classic rebuttals... the list goes on and on... I met a lot of wonderful people along the way and gained a lifetime of knowledge...This whole experience has been quite unbelievable so far.

I joined this Campaign for Liberty because I realized this effort was not about one Presidential election... it was not about one person... This is a Movement... and there is much to be accomplished.

Let us not only take America back, but let us spread the message of liberty to all the world...Let us be a reflection of that spirit and ideal of liberty that runs eternal in the life of man and mankind...

This is just the beginning...

In liberty, Jd
