What an amazing three days at this year's CPAC in Washington, D.C.!
And what an incredible victory for liberty that Congressman Ron Paul won this year's CPAC straw poll.
Each of our many events was overflowing with attendees, and hundreds of C4L volunteers from across America (and even a few from other countries) ensured our success in spreading the freedom message to the thousands of conservative and libertarian activists who gathered for the conference.
If you have not yet watched Congressman Paul's address to the main CPAC audience, click here to listen to Dr. Paul talk about the importance of protecting all liberties and returning to the principles that made our nation great.
I want to thank all of the donors and volunteers who enabled us to have such a tremendous impact. Without your support and hard work, none of C4L's success at CPAC would have been possible.
When CPAC ended, there was no doubt that our movement, our enthusiasm for the principles of liberty, and our dedication to reclaiming our country are stronger than ever.
As we look toward more C4L events later this year, I want to announce that our next Regional Conference will be taking place this May in Iowa.
Stay tuned to this site for more details on the Iowa Conference, and thank you again for all you do on behalf of the cause of freedom!

Clairion Arlington, IA | The name, of the State of Iowa, came from the "Ioway" Indian tribe. These Native Americians of the Ioway Nation, the Baxoje [Bah-Kho-Je], pronounced it as "eye-oh-way."
It comes from the "Sioux" name for this tribe, which meant "sleepy ones." In their own language, the "Ioway" called themselves Baxoje, which means "gray snow."
The majority of both tribes were removed from Iowa to Reservations in Oklahoma in the 1800's... to make land available for us! And what have we done with it?
The spirit and minds, of many residents of this state, are 'eye-away'. And, yes for sure, we are the 'sleepy ones.' For those of you who can discern, what is the meaning of "gray snow."??
Truth is, that which we 'the remnants' crave, is Liberty and Justice and Prosperity. We are in this universe... and the universe is inside our very own DNA.

Last year, Campaign for Liberty made a big impact at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). This year, we're looking to show the political establishment that the freedom movement is stronger than ever!
Taking place February 18-20 in Washington, D.C., CPAC's three day series of events will bring together thousands of conservative and libertarian activists.
In addition to the C4L volunteers who are coming in from all across the country to help us spread our message, we've assembled a top-notch roster of speakers who will be participating in a wide variety of activities, including panel discussions, speeches, book signings, and private briefings.
Activities include:
- A book signing with Congressman Ron Paul after his speech to the main CPAC audience
- "Lincoln on Liberty: Friend or Foe?" with Thomas DiLorenzo
- "When All Else Fails: Nullification and State Resistance to Federal Tyranny" with Tom Woods
- A book signing and speech by reporter and Obamanomics author Tim Carney
- A Friday night private briefing and speech by former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson
- A Thursday night event with Dr. Paul, Judge Napolitano, and Tom Woods, including a question and answer time
These are only some of the events we have scheduled.
Time is running out, however, on our discounted tickets and lodging. The deadline to purchase our discounted tickets and lodging packages is this Monday, February 8, at 5 pm eastern.
Click here for more information on our events and how to buy tickets.
With so many excellent speakers, C4L volunteers from across the country, and a packed agenda of activities, C4L at CPAC 2010 is guaranteed to be a refreshing time of education, interaction, and fun.
I look forward to seeing you there!

We are barely over a month into the New Year, and our elected officials already need an injection of more money to continue their out of control spending addiction.
Contact Congress and urge your representative to vote against H.J. Res. 45, which would increase our debt limit by $1.9 trillion.
We need to act immediately, as a vote on H.J. Res 45 is expected tomorrow.
House leaders are attempting to persuade members to vote for the bill by sticking in a so-called "PAYGO" provision. PAYGO is designed to make it easier for them to raise taxes faster while making it more difficult to cut spending on welfare and warfare.
Make sure Congress hears from you immediately! Tell your representative to support real change and to stand up for true fiscal responsibility by refusing to increase the debt limit any further and rejecting H.J. Res. 45.

Throughout 2010, Campaign for Liberty will be running an issue discussion program through our candidate surveys in every state to promote our issues and agenda and to lobby candidates for federal office and to get them on the record in support or opposition on our issues.
Since our inception, we have had many requests from our members for such an effort to help in their work to educate those around them.
As part of this program, mail, radio and TV ads, banner ads, and other forms of communication may be run to encourage candidates to go on record in support of our Liberty agenda, to highlight the responses of the candidates on our issues, and to hold those candidates who ignore our cause accountable.
There have been some questions as to why certain candidates have received surveys while others haven't. This is simply a matter of putting in place a systematic approach based on candidate filing deadlines and clear survey response deadlines in order to send out surveys in an organized fashion.
For example, Texas candidate surveys have been mailed, and Kentucky surveys will be mailed next week. Illinois survey results are already available on our web site.
As we launch this new undertaking, I also want to take a moment to address your inquires about one of our first public survey ads in Colorado.
First, I think it is important to state up front that, in keeping with our 501(c)4 status, none of our work is in endorsement, support, or opposition for any candidate. In our survey program, we seek only to report where candidates stand in regard to the specific questions to which they have responded.
In retrospect, the ad we are running could have been messaged differently to help avoid any confusion on its intent and to better advertise our issue discussion program. Your invaluable feedback will help us correct this in the future and, as a result, strengthen the effectiveness of our program. This is C4L's first foray into launching this kind of national initiative, and we are convinced it has the potential to make a tremendous impact.
The candidate featured in the Colorado ad answered 19 out of 20 questions correctly on our C4L candidate survey, and he has been publicly outspoken on Audit the Fed and an out of control federal government. He also answered the Foreign Policy questions and warrantless search question on our survey correctly.
We treat these surveys as a personal promise from the candidate as to how they will vote upon entering Congress. And I can guarantee you we will hold them accountable for their actions and responsible for how they presented themselves to us.
That being said, there is an even more important fact: The Colorado program was funded by a small number of Colorado activists. The funding for this program came ENTIRELY from this small group of new C4L donors.
So for all our great grassroots who are wondering why we might not have used this money elsewhere, I can say two things: First, we WILL have similar programs in MANY other places soon, and second, we did NOT use any money raised generally by Campaign for Liberty to run these ads in Colorado.
In order to both launch the Colorado effort and test our survey program, C4L did not use existing donor funds but built new support and donations, especially within Colorado, specifically for this project. This is the approach we hope to take as we seek funding for many other special projects this year in other states.
I take our message of peace, freedom, and prosperity as well as the responsibility entrusted to me to run this organization very seriously. I hope you all know that, and can give us here at C4L the benefit of the doubt when a situation arises about which you might want more information, or with which you even might not agree. As a multi-issue organization with activists from all manner of backgrounds, we each certainly will have our share of disagreements and agreements. The critical question is whether or not we will let disagreements on occasional topics destroy the unity we share in our desire to be a free people.
This movement has a unique window of opportunity to change politics in our country and restore our lost liberties. But to accomplish this, it will take our unified effort and focus. I see great things for us in 2010 and beyond if we can do that. I hope I'll have your support as we continue our campaign for liberty.

e rowe South Bend, IN | Who were the donors for the CO ad?
How much did they each donate?
Was their intent to fund initiatives that fall within CFL's own stated goals? Or was their intent to fund an ad for Ken Buck that sidesteps campaign finance laws and used CFL as their front for that?
How can you expect anyone who sees that ad not to view it as support for the candidacy of Ken Buck? That claim contradicts every single line of the ad itself except for the last line at the very end.
The CFL's official principles include "With our Founding Fathers, we also believe in a noninterventionist foreign policy." But Ken Buck is clearly not a noninterventionist in any sense of the word. How could he have answered all of the survey's foreign policy questions correctly without being a noninterventionist unless those questions did not include anything about noninterventionism? But if they did not include anything about noninterventionism, then how can that survey reflect the official principles of CFL? What were the exact questions on the survey? Was the survey deliberately designed for Ken Buck to score so highly because that's what the anonymous CO donors demanded? |

jgauthier33 Georgetown, TX | From the Buck for Senate website:
"For so many of our brave men and women today, that means shouldering the burden in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We definitely need to continue a major effort in Afghanistan. We are told this effort will take at least 10 years. It will require both military and civilian personnel to help build up the country. The generals on the ground tell us we are likely to be in Afghanistan for the long term with a difficult and complicated mission.
As Colorado's Senator I will always look first to the advice of the generals, and I will strongly support the mission of our troops who are in harm's way."
Campaign for Liberty should not be accepting donations to run ads for neoconservatives! We should not sacrifice our principles on one of the most important issues of our time! |

Cosmo Coos Bay, OR | Mr. Tate, I am curious as to how Mr. Buck could have got all the Foreign Policy questions correct, since his own website show him being quite outspoken in favor of the wars. Quote:

I don't see how CFL could attach itself so publicly to a candidate like this even if there had been no money involved at all. There seems to be a sharp and clear divergence between what Dr. Paul stood for during his campaign and where this Mr. Buck stands. |

Our country's economic future is in Ben Bernanke's hands on a daily basis.
Now his job security is in ours.
I need you to immediately call your senators with a simple message: "No vote on Bernanke until we get a vote on Audit the Fed."
Click here to find contact information for your senators.
Here's what's going on and why you need to act immediately. It's a little complex, so bear with me.
Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) has led the charge to place a "hold" on Bernanke's nomination to a second term as Fed chairman until the Senate votes on Audit the Fed. This means to get a vote on Bernanke, Harry Reid has to have a vote on "cloture" (just like in the health care battle), and that requires a super-majority of 60 votes.
Insiders now tell me that Harry Reid is threatening to ram through a cloture vote as early as next week.
Senator DeMint is joined by David Vitter, Jim Bunning, and Bernie Sanders in his efforts, but these senators cannot succeed alone. But right now, Republicans should stop caving in to Harry Reid's muscle on behalf of Ben Bernanke and the out of control Federal Reserve, and Democrats are cowering in fear of the popular revolt against out of control spending and the economic wreck it has helped create.
A strong message from Campaign for Liberty activists like you could start a stampede in the Senate that will make Harry Reid back off of Bernanke and give us a vote on Audit the Fed.
After all, Harry Reid is already the most vulnerable Democrat up for reelection next year, according to the polls.
Click here to find contact information for your senators.
Make sure you let them know that:
1.) If they are not cosponsoring Audit the Fed, you expect them to sign on in support of finding out what the Fed has done with trillions of our dollars. Tell them you will make sure their constituents know of their action or inaction on this issue.
2.) They must vote "no" on cloture until after there is a vote on Audit the Fed. No vote should be taken on Ben Bernanke's confirmation, or the nomination of anyone else for Fed Chairman, until Audit the Fed has received a public, up or down vote. The real issue here is not the Fed chairman himself. It is the need for complete transparency.
Ben Bernanke's term as Fed chairman expires on January 31, so Harry Reid is under pressure from Barack Obama to act quickly.
Which means we must act even faster.
The Senate has enough on its plate with the fight over health care, so they can ill afford to face yet another tough fight over the leadership's agenda.
Time to turn up the pressure.
Take action today to push for a vote on Audit the Fed, S. 604!
