"The total count was 1888. This is the number of people who attended Texas Congressman Ron Paul’s speech about the importance of liberty last night at Indiana University. According to Jeff Frazee, the Executive Director of Young Americans for Liberty (YAL), this was Dr. Paul’s largest college campus audience to date. Not only was the audience large, it was filled with people who fully embraced Paul’s ‘Case for Liberty.’ The Congressman was often interrupted by thunderous applause, and his words even moved the audience to their feet a few times."

AZGOP NEWS  Legislative Update Thursday, April 23, 2009

Representative Judy Burges, (R-Skull Valley) recently sponsored and passed a Arizona House resolution stipulating that the State of Arizona claim sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

"The federal government has been trouncing the state's constitutional rights for a number of years," said Represenative Burges. "Arizona is a sovereign state and not a branch of the federal government and needs to be treated as a sovereign state. This resolution tells the federal government that Arizona is very cash strapped at this time and cannot afford the unfunded mandates it is imposing."

The 10th Amendment to the Constitution states that "the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people".

The legislation which passed by a 6-3 margin states that this resolution serves as both a notice and a demand to the federal governemnt to immediately cease and desist mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers.

The bill also demands that all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply - under threat of civil or criminal penalties - or sanctions or requires states to pass legislation or otherwise lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed.

WE HAVE BAD NEWS - Although this House Resolution passed in the House in April but due to the BUDGET problems with our Governor - they did not have time to address the Senate Bill at the special budget session and this has now DIED!!! We need to put pressure on the House and Senate and this must start all over!!! Please pay careful attention!

The Indiana Supreme Court ruling which essentially takes away our 4th Amendment caused a big stir across Indiana and surrounding states.  

Approximately 350-400 people attended the rally after 2 young college students created a face book event and a team of defenders of liberty assisted in organizing the rally.  

Campaign For Liberty petition was available to sign at the event and I asked people to get involved in their local government and become activist.
