Campaign For Liberty: Jake Mabus
Jake Mabus Local CoordinatorLocation: Springfield, IL Last login: 12/15/11 RSS feedAs you know my name is Jake Mabus. I have lived in Springfield, IL my whole life and graduated from Southeast High School. Living in this area, while growing up, gives me a very clear picture as to some of the issues we face as a community. I graduated in 1998. Growing up, I played a lot of different sports and usually worked very hard to be a team leader and lead by example. From baseball to basketball and then eventually just football and hockey, I kept my parents very busy. I had some opportunities to play for some top NCAA schools after high school but I was sidelined by injuries. So I took up golf! Playing hockey and traveling all over the country fueled my love of American History. I still play hockey today and I had the opportunity to be the head coach for the Southeast High School Hockey Program. The inaugural season went well and my team learned a lot about the game. I am a Licensed Real Estate Broker who used to own a small real estate firm. I ran the company from my home and had the opportunity to have other real estate agents work for me as I trained them. It was a very good experience, which I learned a lot about the importance of good, strong leadership and the difference between productive work and unproductive work. Working and surviving on a salary based on 100% commission makes you very aware of the difference, very quickly. I sold real estate for close to eight years. I will maintain my license and maybe one day open another office in the area. After my wife finished Nursing School and started practicing, I began to see the difference she makes in people's lives every day. shortly after noticing this affect she had on people's lives, I decided to redirect my future towards a career in nursing as well. I currently work for a local healthcare provider and see several patients daily. I strive to provide excellent service with their healthcare needs. Healthcare truly is an honor and a calling I look forward to continue pursuing. After nursing school I hope to serve in the Navy Reserves within the Navy Nurse Corps. I will apply for commission shortly after I graduate with a BSN. A big reason I am pursuing healthcare is because I beleive I can be a good leader in healthcare for our Veterens. My political experience thus far, has taught me that productive work within government requires; honesty, principled integrity, persistent communication, ownership and initiative. I experienced the importance of these qualities back in the 2008 Presidential Election. The Republican Presidential Candidate I worked for voluntarily, did not have an established office in this area. Over the last 20 years, the state has become overwhelmingly a blue state. So I and a few another gentlemen, decided to take the job into our own hands and try to establish a presence. With two weeks to go until the primaries we organized a few fundraisers and created a PAC to raise some money for Radio and T.V. commercials. We were able to raise about $4,000 and secured spots on all the major news networks and of course, WMAY. We did not win, but a small victory none the less. This work and experience lit a fire within me and that taste of competition, that I had once growing up, flourished. Only this time the game is much more important and the stakes are much higher. It's a lot more fun when you know you are playing for the right team and working for the principles of the philosophy of Liberty and Freedom Including a career in healthcare, I understand the importance of political action and involvement. We need to take ownership, be more proactive and take the initiative to reach out within our community and let everyone know what is going on and who is running for local and state offices. We need to know what legislation is being passed that directly affects us and our children in the future. I've decided to turn my protests into action and join the Campaign for Liberty. Now that you know a little bit about me, it is my job to get to know you. I look forward to seeing you and hope through this site you will get to know my work ethic and my ability to effectively lead. I want to lead our local precincts in the right direction and I hope to provide this kind of platform to all Precinct Committeemen out there. This type of organization, which I have provided here within my site(jakemabus.com), is extremely necessary if we are serious about our children's future and if we are to take back our state. I want to lead the way and make that a reality. Thank you!
