One of the most important functions of the Campaign for Liberty is to educate and train the grassroots so we can effectively work toward reclaiming lost liberties. The Campaign for Liberty Regional Conferences are among the most important tools in our toolbox for training and mobilizing our troops.
May 14-16, the Campaign for Liberty will be hosting our 6th Regional Conference, in Des Moines, Iowa. This event promises to be an unforgettable experience, offering the best training from the some of the most well-known experts in the liberty movement. Attendees will gain the benefit of educational material from a perspective not offered in the main-stream, and they will gain a better understanding of the strategies that will be the most effective as we move forward reclaiming our country, state by state.
Because this conference will be held close to our home-base, Illinois will be holding it’s first state-wide meeting for 2010 at the close of the event. In addition to discussing our plans and priorities for the year and collaborating on important issues, this is an incredible opportunity to get to know fellow liberty-lovers from across the state and develop valuable relationships with those who will be fighting this battle by your side.
The Illinois Scholarship Fund has been created to assist activists who possess the determination and desire to learn how to win our battle, but may not have the financial means needed to attend the conference. Our first priority will be to purchase tickets to the event for qualified recipients, and if possible, blocks of hotel rooms as well. Recipients will be responsible for meals that are not covered with the price of admission, as well as transportation to and from the event, and possibly the cost of a hotel room, should we be unable to raise enough to cover that expense. To further assist members with transportation and the cost of a hotel room, we are working on ride-sharing and room-sharing options. Further updates will be provided on the Illinois profile as they come available.
Those wishing to apply for a scholarship should submit a letter of request to heather.danielowski@campaignforliberty.com. Please provide details including, but not limited to: -Political experience -Grassroots efforts you have participated in / what steps you are taking to restore liberty -Any relevant grassroots training you have received in the past -A brief description of what brought you to the Campaign for Liberty
A letter of recommendation from a fellow activist would be helpful, but is not required.

See you this Spring!

From Yahoo.com:
WASHINGTON – Republicans are assailing Democrats over their plans to push massive health care legislation through the House without a direct vote.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that "anyone who endorses this strategy will be forever remembered for trying to claim they didn't vote for something they did."
Democrats say no final decision has been made on the complex strategy. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to shield lawmakers from having to vote directly on a Senate-passed health care bill because it's unpopular with House Democrats.
Instead, under her favored approach, lawmakers would approve a rule for debate that would deem the Senate bill passed once a smaller package of fixes to the larger bill has also passed.

On March 2, a public hearing was held on SB 2466, a bill that would ban red light cameras in Illinois except at railroad crossings and in construction zones. Despite the popular support of many Illinois legislators and citizens of Illinois, the decision was made to tinker with red light camera law rather than ban the cameras. It has been suggested that they may increase the length of yellow lights and put an end to ticketing drivers for making legal right on red turns. These things may be added into a shell bill which would cover many different transportation issues.
While it would be a good thing to have yellow light timing consistent throughout the state, and there is no question that drivers should not be ticketed for making legal right on red turns, we would like to see SB 2466 passed in it's entirety, as a stand alone bill. After all, tinkering with liberty is not liberty at all.
Please call the Transportation Committee Members today and let them know that you want SB 2466 to pass as a stand-alone bill. Municipalities have used these cameras as a source of revenue, not for the safety issues that they claimed made the intrusive devices necessary. Many intersections where these cameras are located have seen an increase in accidents rather than the decrease that the state claimed would occur.

The pro-life Democrat leading the charge in the House against passage of the Senate health insurance reform bill said Friday that a key committee chairman told him that Democrats want abortions to be paid by a federally-funded nationalized health insurance system.
Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., who's been so far out in front of the debate about abortion coverage that he earned himself a primary challenger over it, said Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., told him he wants to change current law that bans federal funding for abortion.
In an interview with Marquette, Mich., radio station WKQS' Mark & Walk morning show, Stupak described what he said was a conversation with Waxman about the Senate's version of the health care overhaul. That bill contains weaker language than the House-passed legislation, which includes a provision crafted by Stupak to ensure insurance companies that participate in a national exchange don't use federal money for abortion services.
"I gave him the language. He came back a little while later and said, 'But we want to pay for abortions.' I said, 'Mr. Chairman, that's -- we disagree. We don't do it now, we're not going to start.'
"'But we think should,'" Stupak said Waxman told him.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) –
President Barack Obama will corral on Tuesday key Republican and Democratic senators whose support is critical for passing a climate change law, seeking to jump-start stalled efforts to overhaul energy policy.
Obama called the White House meeting with top lawmakers and members of his cabinet to reinvigorate one of his policy priorities, which even his advisers admit has suffered from the president's intense focus on healthcare reform.
The House of Representatives has already passed a bill that would require the United States to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases 17 percent by 2020 compared to 2005 levels, roughly the same goal Washington has backed at international talks to combat global warming.
But the Senate has not passed a similar measure, and a bipartisan group of senators including Democrat John Kerry, Republican Lindsey Graham and independent Joe Lieberman are expected to produce a bill soon.

Scott from PA Hopwood, PA | The Wall Street bankers who will run the exchanges to trade carbon credits are the biggest beneficiaries of Cap and Trade, and middle-class America will take it on the chin again as more good paying jobs will be outsourced and prices of everything will increase even more. |
