I think its already here, the Death of the Revolution. I had hoped that a true intellectual grassroots movement would emerge from the tireless efforts of Ron Paul to spread a message of Liberty, Freedom and adherence to the Constitution. Our Country so desperately needs the ideas that some in the Revolution worked hard to promote. As time moves inexorably towards a future of some bizarre fascism/socialism/tyranny/New World Order, of mainstream consumptive TV based stupidity, I wonder with sadness, where it will end.
I am just like so many of you. When I first heard Dr. Paul speak, I was excited that finally here was a politician who spoke truth to power and used logic and reason to confront issues head on. I was enthralled by the direct nature of his dialog without fear of political suicide. Wow, someone talking about how a foreign policy that supported the likes of Saddam Huessein and the Mujadeen laid the ground work for future blow back against our imperialism. I agreed. I don't want to be the worlds policeman! I don't want an empire!
And then there was so much else I agreed with. At long last, someone talking about; the unjust generational warfare that is Social Security, the debt, ending the IRS, ending the war on drugs, school choice for my family, sound money as a moral imperative, the blatant fascism/corporatism that allows the well connected access to the halls of power, ending the Federal Reserve, NAFTA/CAFTA parading as free trade instead of the sovereign crushing new world order agreements that they are. Not only was a Dr. Paul giving voice to my beliefs, generally paleo-libertarian, but I was also inspired to learn about Austrian economics, more about our Founding Fathers and the Constitution.
I worked hard for Dr. Paul, I joined the Republican party, got elected a precinct co-captain, became a delegate, went to my assemblies to fight for The Revolution and a return to the promise of Liberty that is endowed in all of us by our Creator.
But lately I have become saddened. I am watching the destruction of the movement, The Revolution, by the obsession of the Conspiracy Theorists. The Alex Jones crew. The Revolution has been hijacked as a vehicle for these fantasies. I have talked to other Paulites who have been forced out of Meetup groups by these often angry and assertive people who will never consider anything but what Alex tells them. Everything is an inside job. Everything is about the Freemasons and their quest to take over the world by some nefarious pact. 9/11 was done by Bush who was controlled by high-order Freemasons and the illuminati. These people think every act of terrorism is perpetuated by the freemasons/illuminati/CIA and is an inside job. Well I got news for you folks, this foolishness is killing the Revolution.
The truth is far harder to understand and certainly less entertaining than listening to the rants of some of the conspiracy folks. The truth is that socialism, collectivism, and Keynesian economic theory has been preached to be the savior of American society by every institution that we come in contact with. Its in our public schools, it is in higher education, its in the media; government is good, we need more government. We are allowing the centralization of power at the Federal level, and global level, because we are taught that One World is good, and that pride in our nation and American Culture is bad. Our government is corrupted by greed and lust for power both by the politicians who we elect and the lobbyists who run Washington DC. These are the well connected elite who the government works for, the unions, the bankers, the military, the insurance industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the tax industry, it goes on and on. And probably very few Freemasons in the group too.
But there is so much to be done to educate the country as to what this really means:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"
We can't let the movement die because of the always unprovable hysteria of conspiracy theory Brownshirts. The Revolution, inspired by Dr. Paul can bring about real change to restore the promise of America. But I see so many conspiracy truthers working to relegate us to the Fringe and into obscurity. I challenge all of you to ask what will you choose? Reality or Fantasy?

 PUBLIUS Katy, TX | On occasion, I have had similar conversations with others within the movement, and I too am keen to advise asserting a pragmatic caution in picking our battles. I personally believe that an inclusive forward-looking outreach strategy is prudent in order to develop, strengthen, and increase our influence within our communities. Lest we not heed President Washington’s advice against factions, if we are to maintain a unified coalition from which to espouse the broader messages of freedom, prosperity, and peace, a vulnerability exists which threatens the efficacy of achieving those aims. We must continually strive to distinguish the reputation of our movement to one associated with a limited set of dedicated principles, and vigilantly stay within those bounds if we are to achieve success collectively. |

 ChristopherJ Columbus, OH | Interesting... that a show like Alex Jones actually talked about and endorsed Ron Paul before the rest of this movement came on-board.
You seemed to be blaming other truth movements for destroying the 'Ron Paul Movement'. You also kept mentioning conspiracy theories over and over.

 HeathS Buffalo, KY | There are a lot of Masons that are Ron Paul supporters... Also, a lot of Masons who are for liberty, and that founded the country and helped get our Bill of Rights, and Constitution. Freemasons are a group led from the bottom up, with terms that generally last a year or so, and each state has its own independent ways of doing things. The reason a lot of Masons are seen in leadership roles around the country is because they are active in the community, and learn leadership in the Lodges. You can see on Alex Jones that communist/ socialist states most often target Masons.
Lastly, for those of you thinking about conspiracies: if you really think that an large organization can be led with highly focused central planning over a period of centuries, why not join the socialist or communist party???!!! The Masons are quiet the opposite. |

Hey C4L what is up with the ad for Ken Buck for senator in Colorado. The first ad I see by C4L on TV is for Ken Buck? I am shocked beyond words. Ken Buck may be in-line with many of the small government concepts that we are but Mr. Buck is a person who is all about militarism and interventionalism. His foreign policy views are diametrically opposed to what C4L is all about.

On Iraq & Afghanistan
"We definitely need to continue a major effort in Afghanistan. We are told this effort will take at least 10 years. It will require both military and civilian personnel to help build up the country. The generals on the ground tell us we are likely to be in Afghanistan for the long term with a difficult and complicated mission.
As Colorado's Senator I will always look first to the advice of the generals, and I will strongly support the mission of our troops who are in harm's way."
Gail Norton may be a more unpleaseant choice in colorado but please consider spending your money elsewhere in our Republic for more non-interventionalist candidates.

 InTheoryTV Fort Collins, CO | Good point Commander Yo. I concur that highlighting someone who is not a non-interventionist is wrong for the Campaign for Liberty. This Ken Buck ad and play time is said to of cost $350k. Also it appears that the money may have been funneled from someone in Colorado for this ad. But we don't know because the C4L has been silent.

 Caleb Kinley Hot Springs, AR | There is a statement/letter from C4L President John Tate on the C4L homepage about this very incident. It was not an endorsement because C4L (a 501c4 lobbying group) can not legally endorse a candidate.
Many people hear something or see something, or read something, and automatically jump to conclusions. We (the people of C4L) are better than that. We've been fighting this battle for a long time, some for years and years, and we've learned not to jump to conclusions. |

 Commander Yo Fort Collins , CO | Caleb, I don't think I jumped to conclusions. When you see an ad for a candidate followed by a branded logo it is an implied endorsement. You can hide behind the legalisms of a 501c4 but functionally it is an endorsement.
I have read the questionare that led to Mrs. Solan and her fellow activists here in Colorado moving forward with this ad and I must say 19 of 20 questions is pretty good for Ken Buck. I will even support Ken Buck above Gail Norton.
But let me relay a little story I decided to leave out of my initial post. I stood next to Perry Buck, Ken Bucks wife, at our State Convention during the last general election. I must say the twenty minutes I stood next to this woman, as we went up to try to become national delgates, was rather, well, unpleasent. Mrs Buck treated me like an outsider, I was clearly not welcome in her party, in spite of my efforts to find common ground and my amicable demeanor. Us Ron Paul supporters were booed, hissed and mocked at the Colorado Convention even though our yellow shirts filled up at least 1/4 of the place! Later, I saw Mrs. Buck in a picture with Karl Rove laughing and joking.
My initial disgust with the Ken Buck ad brought that lovely twenty minutes back and I wondered how we could "support" this candidate. Regardless of what the legalisms you use in 501-c$ sections 609-1.bb of standing rule 4022-88A for lobying groups you want to hide behind.

Believe me, I totally understand your frustration with how you were treated at the CO GOP. I too have suffered basically the same fate, as have many other liberty lovers across the nation. I'm currently working on a book that touches on the abusive, unjust 'establishment' GOP tactics in area's such as CO, NV, LA, TX, and in my own state, AR. If you're not familiar with what happened to Ron Paul supporters in Nevada, be prepared to be nauseated. You can find video's on Youtube and articles in Nevada papers online in reference to the underhanded tactics of the NV GOP.
And just so you know, my statement in my previous post was <i>not</i> an accusation, but rather, a blanket recommendation, which I and many others before me have learned from personal experience. I believe, personally, that it's a 'trust' issue, meaning of course, we've been let down so many times by self-interest seeking politicians and the campaign rhetoric of candidates, including, but not limited too, the way liberty lovers have been treated by the establishment because of our belief in the supreme law of the land. It's precisely why I support the surveys one hundred percent.
Prior to Congressman Paul running for president in 2008, I had not voted since I cast my vote for Ronald Reagan. However, once the Iran Contra Affair (ICA) and REX-84 came to light, I no longer supported President Reagan and with-held my vote in subsequent presidential elections until Ron Paul ran in 08. For the record, I do not support the concept that our constitution can be suspended by any president, shadow government, spy agency, or by our military.
We should always, always remain ever vigilant, and I suspect that much of the verbal backlash from the Buck video is due to our eternal vigilance. However, after watching the video several times, I feel that in this case we should give C4L the benefit of doubt and <i>not</i> abandon ship as a few have suggested they might do on John Tate's original post. |
