I am a supervisor for R&L Carriers, an LTL transportation company. In 2004 my father started his own company called M&Z express LLC which was a transportation company. He intended to have me manage his business and he planned to manage the maintenence department. Sadly he developed cancer and we never saw the company fully develope past its initial growth. During the initial phase I spent a lot of time studying economics and business management. Following his death and the solvency of the business I still had vested intrest in continuing what I was studying so at some point I could make my own attempt at starting a business venture of my own. This eventually brought me to Mises Institute and the Austrian School of Economics which is where I familiarized myself with Dr. Paul and the CFL. I've read almost all of the literature you can throw at me and I have began making an effort to purchase hard copy material that I can read and refferrence easier than online text and audio books. If you ever have a question I can quite possably point you to a good piece or article, I have a bookmark folder a mile deep!

Some of my favorite online free reading materials:
http://mises.org/media.aspx?action=category&ID=87 (audiobook) For A New Liberty: The Libertarian Manifesto by Murray Rothbard - This was my second discovery after reading Hazlett's Economics, this made me discover who I am politically.
http://jim.com/econ/contents.html : Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlett - This book was what started it all for me. I thought I was getting into the boring life of economics and the economists "light" if you will, went on in my brain!
http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/betrayal/index.html The Betrayal of the American Right by Murray Rothbard - My favorite resource for arguments, this book lays it out for anyone who has read anything prior and has an idea what is going on.
http://mises.org/books/goldpeace.pdf Gold, Peace and Prosperity by Ron Paul - A great primer for a Gold Standard argument. I have a video from Mises downloaded I'd like to upload soon also to accompany this pamphlet.
Some other cool things:
http://www.goooh.com/ Well thought out political action plan for getting our government back into the hands of the people.
http://www.chancelitton.com/?p=131 Capitolism vs Socialism by Chance Litton - (article) An educational opinion from Mr. Litton followed by some informative exchanges on his blog. A worthwhile read.
http://www.meetup.com/ - Find your local Campaign For Liberty friends who may not be a member to the new site. There are still very active groups who don't frequent the CFL site but still make tremendous headway on their own at meetup!!
http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/rothbard187.html Ron Paul: A most Unusual Politician by Murray Rothbard (article) - This is a forward from the Gold Peace and Prosperity book. I think it deserves it's own little corner spotlight though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZM58dulPE Money, Banking and the Federal Reserve - A Mises Institute Presentation on Fractional Reserve Banking featuring Lew Rockwell, Ron Paul and Murray Rothbard. Click the link or simply click play on the preview below. Running time: 42 minutes
Only 52% of Americans pay "Income Tax". That's the media putting a spin on the Tax Day TEA party protests planned around the country. What this headline doesn't account for is inflation, business, and corporate tax, the very thing 100% of Americans pay for through services and commodities every day, even while sleeping as maybe an online merchant account tallies out european sales after hours. Don't forget, some state taxes and sales taxes go toward paying the state deficit which is owed to the treasury. So, when someone tells you that you aren't "Taxed Enough Allready" you have a little something to share, $19 out of $20 spent in a day goes toward paying taxes (sometimes hidden in tarrifs and trade agreements), which is equivalent to approxomately 97% of the buying power of a USDollar, that is our inflation at work. Now, people should be explaining why they are NOT angry?
A woman films a number of armed officials enter her home without permission, asks them to show her a warrant, asks for photo ID, gets absolutely NONE on her requests answered and is left with nothing left to do but upload the video. Take it at face value, the person who uploaded it made a few replies on the comments as well at the original site.
Wow.. The youtube comments are sick. "If you don't have anything to hide, open the door."
Nobody noticed that when she opened the front door, there was already a cop in her home.. BEHIND HER... from the back door? She never allowed those police in, and clearly they are on a power trip. I bet if she didn't have her camera handy, they would have done something much worse than enter her home without a warrant.
In a recent ABCNews.com article Lauren Cox and Lara Salahi report of a 12 day old child who is denied insurance coverage due to a pre-existing condition. Take a look at the article and imagine now if a case like this is brought to court how would the implications of the judiciary interpretation of the law affect abortion issues in the legal system.
If an insurance company is able to define pre-birth health conditions does that force the new government mandated healthcare to make a decision on how insurance is handled in situations such as 12 day old Houston Tracy, and if they do, how does that law affect non-healthcare related abortion laws?
Please take some serious time to consider and discuss this with your friends and family and let me know your thoughts and opinions. I personally think it should be considered a pre-existing condition, which puts the parents of this unfortunate child at the mercy of dependence to a service which will ultimately get out of covering the extra services performed. However it signifigantly shows that life exists before birth which should cripple pro-choice laws.
As bad as I feel for the family, the insurance company is as responsible for the child's death as me not giving the family the money to save the child, or the doctors and hospitals refusing to save the child.
When the price of a commodity goes up, how does a local business adjust to cost of it's service to the consumer? Well, depending on the business there are many factors which can affect what happens, but ultimately, the consumer will see some sort of adjusted price to pay for this. Some prosperous business may be able to margin its loss and deliver to their consumer at a discounted price for a short term, while another business who hasn't been so frugal may be forced to put all of this cost to their consumers.
The recently passed health care "reform" may in fact offer a service once unavailable to 30 million people. While many people can celebrate their relief of costly visits for medical treatment, we need to ask how the system works.
The government will fund this by taxing americans. Remember the government has nothing, therefor they must get the money from somewhere. If they use jargon like borrowing from the Federal Reserve we need to remember that they must pay that money back. Where do they get that money? Taxes. So ultimately, people, businesses and corporations will be funding federally mandated health care.
When a person is taxed directly, we notice it immediately. We can look at a pay stub from our employer and see exactly what was deducted. When a business gets taxed we see it indirectly by increased cost of service or commodity. When a corporation gets taxed we see it indirectly through lower pay wages and lower standards of excellence through service. The latter in perspective makes you wonder who ultimately pays ALL of these taxes. If you pay for a tax directly, and you pay for a tax indirectly, you basically pay it all right?
When you pay for these taxes indirectly it is a clear indication that the purchasing power of your dollar has been reduced. Since 1913 when the federal reserve act and income tax legislation was passed we have reduced the purchasing power of our currency so bad that what was once a dollar, now costs $20. For every $20 you have in your pocket, $19 of those dollars will ultimately be used to pay a tax in one form or another and go to the federal government to settle a loan to the federal reserve.
As the following months and years come to pass and you see your local economy increase costs while your health care decreases, remember the way the market works. For every action there is a direct and indirect reaction. Many people are still not sure exactly what will happen, but this is one thing I can predict without error: Costs will go up, and quality will go down, but we will all be insured.
"Hitler did not have to destroy democracy; he merely took advantage of the decay of democracy and at the critical moment obtained the support of many to whom, though they detested him, he yet seemed the only man strong enough to get things done."
