Senate Judiciary Chairman Unable to Say Where Constitution Authorizes Congress to Order Americans to Buy Health Insurance Thursday, October 22, 2009 By Matt Cover, Staff Writer
CNSNews.com: "Where, in your opinion, does the Constitution give specific authority for Congress to give an individual mandate for health insurance?" Sen. Leahy: "We have plenty of authority. Are you saying there is no authority?" CNSNews.com: "I'm asking--" Sen. Leahy: "Why would you say there is no authority? I mean, there's no question there's authority. Nobody questions that."

Her press spokesman, Nadeam Elshami, "You can put this on the record," said Elshami. "That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question."

BigJohn Oak Park, CA | That is just terrible... I don't even know what to say.
She's my Senator too, so you'd think I'd have an opinion. But I don't. I'd just like to get these people out of my life. |

StaticMatt Richmond, IN | Well, this should help John Dennis pick up some much needed support...anyone think? |

BigJohn Oak Park, CA | Dang, I said Senator, I confused her with Dianne Feinstein... I guess all those figures start blending together |

JohnF Lake Mary, FL | "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
It's moved out of the "ignore you," stage into the "laugh at you," stage. We're making progress. Once the fight begins, we won't be stopped. Their weapons are paper mache, and Nancy Pelosi knows it.
I have no doubt in my mind that Nancy Pelosi lives in fear of the day her chicanery finds her out. All liars do. It's really a pitiable sight to see the futile machinations of a coward. |

willers32 Green Cove Springs, FL | Just proves the fact that the Constitution, the "Supreme Law of the Land" is really a dead letter. No one in power pays the slightest attention to it.
It is up to us to MAKE THEM OBEY THE LAW! |

Pumeleon Auburn, IN | You know, since the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, couldn't we impeach a legislator for violating it? I can think of no higher crime than to willingly violate the Constitution.
And yes, impeachment proceedings in the house can be brought up by petition. |

Pumeleon Auburn, IN | As a note: I don't seriously believe that in this political climate, you could convict the Speaker of the House, but it would force congress to acknowledge that it IS INDEED a serious question.
(sorry about the double-post) |

redshirt Philadelphia, PA | It is in fact a serious question! It is the first and only question to be asked prior to Congress even considering any legislation.
Unfortunately, my reps here in PA are just as ignorant (Senators and district 13). Completely out of touch with legal reality.
And please, for anyone browsing this blog, ask yourself, why would you vote for someone who doesn't even understand the Constitution and has no willingness to abide by it? If your candidate is not willing to follow the most important rules of the land, what makes you think your candidate would abide by ANY other rules?
The majority of the Congress is corrupt as far as I can tell. Nor do they have even the slightest economic common sense. Bad combination! |

So we have a long story here with what appears to be numerous people requesting anonymity acknowledging there was a situation yet after many paragraphs we come up with nothing more than "Law enforcement raided a home, but no one knows why"
NBC News and news services
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32845251/ns/world_news-terrorism
WASHINGTON - FBI agents and police on a terrorism task force raided residences in New York City before dawn Monday after a visit from a person believed to be linked to al-Qaida .
The raids came after an individual under surveillance for alleged links to al-Qaida came to New York City over the weekend and left the area, Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., said after receiving a briefing on the raids from federal law enforcement officials Monday.
WNBC-TV reported a man of Afghan descent from the Rocky Mountain area of the U.S. drove to New York City and met with several people before returning to the Rockies by plane. Authorities were looking at his vehicle.
No arrests were announced Monday but the investigation was still under way. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., who was briefed by FBI Director Robert Mueller, said a terrorist attack was not believed to be imminent.
New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne confirmed that searches were conducted in the borough of Queens by agents of a joint terrorism task force . He would not discuss the matter further.
Two U.S. intelligence officials, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly, said the target of any purported attack - or who would carry it out - remained unclear.
Official: Threat very real Authorities have not found any weapons ready for use - such as a bomb - that would indicate an attack was imminent, they said. Nevertheless, one of the officials called the threat very real and emphasized the urgency of the threat.
Another person briefed on the matter, who was not authorized to discuss the case and requested anonymity, said the raids were the result of previous law enforcement surveillance of individuals.
Schumer said he couldn't discuss much of the case because many of the details were still classified.
'This was preventive' "There was nothing imminent, and they are very good now at tracking potentially dangerous actions and this was preventive," Schumer said. He added that the law enforcement action was unrelated to President Barack Obama's visit Monday to New York.
Monday afternoon, a man answering his apartment door at a three-story brick apartment building in a predominantly Asian neighborhood of Queens confirmed that police had been at his apartment earlier Monday. He and a woman in the apartment wouldn't comment further or identify themselves, closing their door to a reporter.
Nearby resident Kabir Islam, 24, said he saw FBI agents and police officers surrounding the apartment when he arrived home after 3 a.m. Monday.

fadestyle Walnut Bottom, PA | I read on a website that the military issued a red alert 75% chance of an al-CIA-da terrorist attack could happen within a 30 day period letting off a big dirty something over multiple cities.
Let me tell you that the people are awake and if anything fishy happens that will make light bulbs and sirens go off in peoples minds that government sponsored terror is real.
keep it up you freaking tyrants and you will see the sleeping giant arise. |

A recent review the civil liberties law firm "Liberty Council" has reviewed the Health Care Bill and summerized some of the wording of the bill for the public consumption. Have a look at this 11 page .PDF:

I don't know how to put into words the kind of outrage I feel after reading this. From telling doctors how much they should make, to rationalised care, to calling a tax a non-tax.... this is a laundry list of a historical bad idea. I never really knew a real left individual that I could say I've had arguements with over political philosophy or ideals, but I would love someone who is to please dispute and rationalise any of these ideas and tell me why it is a good idea.
I have family members with permanent conditions and this is spelling complete disaster for them by demarginalising their treatment and care.
Soon people will not want to work as physicians because the government will tell them how much they make. Why go through 6 and 10 years of study and rack up a mountain of educational debt when you're not even sure if you will be able to pay it off in your lifetime if you get a poor government pay scale?
People with chronic illness will suffer rationalised care and waiting lists for treatment spelled out by Commisioners who will decide how your care will be handled! Commisioners who might not even have a medical background!
Illegal Immigrants will receive benefits while not being required to pay for anything. It will be payed for by the common taxpayer. Don't want the healthcare? Tough, you're still going to pay for it since Employers will be required to automatically enroll you.
The list goes on... Read it for yourself. It's not depressing, it's outragious, and everyone in America should be shouting on the streets right now. In fact at Town Hall meetings across america you will hear about angry mobs of people telling their senators and congressmen they are fed up and they're not going to take it!
Do you know how the politicians are responding? One said it reminds him of the kind of activity that "promotes extreme violence, like Timothy McVeigh", One claims he felt as though his Town Hall meeting was "Infiltrated", infiltrated by his constituents! Ok, I'm done, I'll tell you how my Town Meeting goes this Tuesday when Senator Arlen Specter is slated to show up in Lebanon County PA. Hopefully I get a chance to ask something... anything....
