Brent Stafford's weblog
Mark your calendars and plan on attending the first ever Missouri Campaign for Liberty state membership meeting in Jefferson City on June 13th.
We have a full day planned and it will be well worth attending.
We will meet in the State Capitol building for the meeting.
There will be speakers on a variety of important topics, a tour of the capitol building, and a wealth of handouts that will help us all be more effect in our efforts.
We will be getting information about the upcoming petition drive to put an eminent domain constitutional amendment on the ballot.
After lunch we'll have our business meeting.
We will be discussing and approving our new bylaws that will create the structure of the Missouri Campaign for Liberty.
We will be selecting two new State Coordinators.
Following the business meeting we will head over to a wonderful park for more socializing. We may have some Missouri legislators drop by the picnic. We will also have food, a raffle, and other surprises.
This is going to be a great day to meet other Campaign for Liberty members from around the state, as well as prepare for a busy summer promoting liberty in Missouri.
I hope you can attend.

I presented these bylaws at the Regional Conference in St. Louis. There were some errors in that version which time did not permit me to correct during the conference.
The errors have been corrected now, so here is the latest version.
I will keep this blog updated with any further changes.
Please feel free to contact me, or your District Coordinator, with any questions or comments.

DRAFT 1.6 03-31-2009
Bylaws of the Missouri Campaign for Liberty
Article I - MISSION
Our mission is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.
Article II – STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
The U.S. Constitution is at the heart of what Campaign for Liberty stands for, and we demand our government have fidelity to its own governing document.
Like our Founding Fathers, we believe in a noninterventionist foreign policy. Our military overstretch is undermining our national defense and bankrupting our country.
We believe that the free market is the most just and humane economic system and the greatest engine of prosperity the world has ever known.
We believe that central banking distorts economic decision making and misleads entrepreneurs into making unsound investments. We oppose the Federal Reserve System, which has reduced the value of the dollar by 95 percent since it began in 1913.
We oppose the dehumanizing assumption that all issues that divide us must be settled at the federal level and forced on every American community. We believe in the humane alternative of local self-government, as called for in our Constitution. We oppose the transfer of American sovereignty to supranational organizations in which the American people possess no elected representatives.
We believe that freedom is an indivisible whole, including not only economic liberty, but civil liberties, privacy rights, and all the personal freedoms protected by the Bill of Rights. We defend the timeless rights cherished for centuries by our civilization against the lawless tyranny that has always threatened them, and we seek a future where the American tradition of liberty is restored and respected more profoundly than ever.
We believe the State of Missouri is a Sovereign State under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.
Be believe the federal government as our agent should cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers.
We believe that all compulsory federal legislation which directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, other sanctions, or requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding should be prohibited or repealed.
Our stances on other issues can be deduced from these general principles.

St. Charles County resident and blogger Chuck MacNab of RiteOn.org has declared political war on Ron Paul, his supporters, and specifically anyone running for office the supports Ron Paul.
In his July 16th newsletter Chuck MacNab links to this story about Ron Paul wanting de reduce defense spending. http://www.capitolwebhosting.com/sendstudio/link.php?M=33757&N=758&L=390 5&F=H
He prefaces the article with the following statement:
Editor’s comment: There are several Libertarians, who are supporters of Ron Paul’s views, running as Republicans in the primary election this August 3. Putting the war in Afghanistan aside, anyone who advocates cutting defense expenditures by as much as the Marxists in our government want to cut them (and who are apparently now joined by Rep. Ron Paul) is putting the future of the country and our ability to defend ourselves at serious risk. We can wish that the world was a different sort of place but practicality demands that we be ever vigilant and have the best in weaponry and defense capability available to our military. Please do not vote for a Libertarian (whether running as a Republican or not) or anyone who supports Ron Paul..... RiteOn will attempt to identify the Libertarians (running as Republicans) and publish their names prior to the August 3 primary.... Ed
Let us not forget it was the neocon Republicans that played the dirty tricks last election. Let us also make note that Mr. MacNab is a leader in a local teaparty style group called K&N Patriots. This is a group that members of C4L have supported and participated in many events with. Let us also make mention that Ron Paul supporters have supported many Republican Missouri legislators in their fights to protect our liberties. Elected officials like Jim Guest, Cynthia Davis, Jim Lembke, any many more.

(from the White House website) Since his Inauguration, the President has called on all Americans to serve our communities and be a part of building a better future for our country. And given this unique moment in our history with the unprecedented challenges we are facing, there isn't a more important time than now for us to get involved. That is why today the President is announcing United We Serve -- a call to action for all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America, one community at a time. We know that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things when empowered with the proper tools. The Corporation for National Service, the federal agency dedicated to fostering service in communities across the country, is providing those tools on their website, Serve.gov. They make it easy to not only find volunteer opportunities in our neighborhoods, but also to create and promote our own projects. It's time to roll-up our sleeves and get to work. Watch the President's announcement below and get started at Serve.gov.
---------------------------
Sounds like a plan. While I oppose almost every thing President Obama does, I decided since I'm already working hard for the cause of liberty, perhaps there were opportunities to help that cause I was missing out on.
So I go the the serve.gov website. Its nice and pretty and has this great tool to search for volunteer opportunities.
My first search was "constitution". No results. Hmmm, shouldn't people have the chance to reassert the US Constitution as part of "building a new foundation for America".
So I did what any red, white, and blue blooded member of the C4L would do. I created an organization on the site for the Missouri Region I coordinate and I will post events I want volunteers and attendees for.
I would encourage all of us, from Local Coordinators to State Coordinators, to give people using the service President Obama is promoting the chance to find us and help truly rebuild America.

illuminati hater Las Vegas, NV | The thing I worry about is the government finding excuses to terminate programs that stand for our ideals.
The last thing our government would want is hosting programs that spread liberty and common sense. |

bsaklik St. Charles, MO | Brent I understand your urge to serve your community. While at the same time it is my opinion that we stand on our shared principles of limited government, sound money, free markets and the constitution. After saying that this program is unconstitutional through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act it takes public funds and appropriates to a select group. It's another piece of big government in my opinion, that we do not need. They expect to help America "recovery" by spending more tax-payers money. We don't need the government to make our communities stronger. We need each other and freedom. |

The first ever Missouri Campaign for Liberty State Meeting was a great success. The speakers were informative and we all left the capitol building with a wealth of intellectual ammunition to use in our fight for libety.
If you did not attend, you missed a great event. We took a group photo by the replica of the Liberty Bell that should be posted on the Missouri page soon.
The bylaws were adopted and we will have another meeting to allow for further ammendments before the end of the year.
I am proud to announce we had our first ever elections for State Coordinators. Paul Hamby was elected to a 2 year term and will serve as President ot the MOC4L. Robyn Hamlin was elected Vice-President and will serve 1 year in that position.
I have the greatest confidence in these two exceptional people and we should all be proud to have them as our new State Coordinators.
The BBQ was a great time and we all got to know C4L members from around the state.
All said, it was a great day and I think we have set the bar high for all upcoming meetings.
I want to personally thank everyone that helped make the day a great success.
