FIRST IN THE NATION: BILL TO BAN TSA GROPING

The 82nd Legislative session ends soon!  We don't have much time!

Tell our Texas Senate to stand up and say NO to DC.

Last night the local Austin FOX News affiliate ran a story about two Texas state officials that were given the full treatment by the TSA (there are others that preferred not to tell their story publicly because it was too embarrassing).  The New York Times also did a feature story this week.
Can you share these with your friends?
Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Barry Smitherman had to endure a 40 minute search of every single piece of his luggage--they told him he was being "punished" for opting out of the scanners.  And the "aggressive" pat-down even left him "sore" for several hours afterward.  State Rep. Barbara Nash was among the many travelers that received a TSA groping this past weekend.  She decided to speak out to help protect her constituents from this abuse of our innocent travelers.

Can you make a call or send a fax or email to the Governor to ask him to add the TSA anti-groping bill HB 41 (formerly HB 1937) to the call for the special session?

The time is very short. We expect the special session to wind down next week. Senator Patrick has asked the Gov. to add it and has the votes. The Lt. Gov. has asked for it to be added to the call. I have 112 coauthors in the House and it passed out of committee unanimously, and Rep. David Simpson has asked for it to be added to the call. If the Gov. leads on the issue, it will fly through and demonstrate his courage to stand up for the common man, for dignity, for freedom, for the Constitution.
We are down to the wire.  The legislation has been blessed by God every step of the way, overcoming great odds but with unanimous support, at every step so far.  A timely call today would be very helpful!
We have received emails from all around the country. This would only help the Governor.  The issue is not going away and has much grassroots support.  The TEA Parties are for it. The SREC (State Republican Executive Committee) voted overwhelming for it.  The Washington Times supports it.  The New York Times is publicizing it.

David Simpson for Texas State Representative District 7:
"Lt. Gov. Dewhurst allowed Senator Patrick to bring up HB 1937, but there were not 2/3rd of the members present to do it even after several amendments were considered. The Texas Sam Houston fought for and governed apparently is learning submission."

My comment - NOT EVEN PRESENT?!?!?!?!   we need names!!!!!

One of a few good posts at The Lone Star Report. Includes the threat letter from the DOJ.

Representative Simpson's website, you can sign up for email updates.

They adjourned around 11 pm. I thought they could go until midnight?????

Bills killed by the clock at the State Capitol

Just like most of the Congressmen in DC, the majority of the members of the Texas Senate are a shame to our American ideals and the Founding Fathers who gave so much for us. What will it take to get more people involved and fighting this Federal AND State Tyranny???

We made a last minute, whirlwind trip to Austin, I had to wait and see if donations came in to pay for the trip!   I'm so glad we went.  Besides speaking at the hearing we were able to meet with others working for our freedom and visit some legislator's offices.

After testifying I was approached by a member of Sen. Williams staff who assured me that those terrible REAL ID elements had been removed from the bill.  I am distressed that they were even there in the first place - introduced and co-sponsored by Republicans.  It's in the Rep party of Texas platform - they are against REAL ID.  Some may say we were overreacting, but we have learned from past experience that anything can happen up until the eleventh hour and fifty-ninth minute.  We have seen it with TxDOT and the Trans Texas Corridor (not dead and renamed) bills, amendments slipped in at the end that totally voided all our hard work.  If they even thought about the implementation of REAL ID and random check points (this has come up in other legislation) then we needed to cry foul as loudly as possible - only then do we get their attention and help stem the tide of tyranny.

A gentleman spoke who came here from Ethiopia in the early 1940's, he fought for the US in WW2.  He said he came to live in a free country and we aren't free anymore.  He was very passionate and emotional as you can imagine.  He is the perfect example of how others can see what's happened here, but too many of us native born Americans have become accustomed to it little by little like the frog in the kettle, we haven't noticed how hot the water has become.

If we don't stand up and say NO - the state as well as local and federal government will continue to bleed us dry and control us more and more, by littles.

Here are my rough draft comments I distributed to the committee members:  I didn't have a chance to say much when testifying, I was rushed and interrupted by the chair, oh well, I did what I could.  (I put these down quickly while getting ready to leave Monday night, didn't have time to polish and fine tune.)

Several reasons I oppose any legislation that brings us further into compliance with the Federal REAL ID ACT.

1.  Unfunded mandates, the people can't take anymore increases in fees/taxes, etc.

2.  Unlikely to help curb illegal immigration with our porous borders and welfare/public services/citizenship incentives, mainly it will serve to hassle and harass law abiding people.

3.  Collecting finger prints of law abiding people is an invasion of privacy (I know this has been done for several years, and I protest it).

4.  Check points for any reason other than road blocks for specific crimes/criminal suspects ie: man hunt - UNCONSTITUTIONAL

5.  GPS tracking without court order - UNCONSTITUTIONAL

6.  Federalizing  state databases UNCONSTITUTIONAL.   It is the duty of the state government to protect her citizens from the Federal government.  Whether it's REAL ID, no child left behind or mandatory health care.

7.  When will Texas stand up to DC and say NO to these encroachments?   Do you realize that we are becoming a more and more controlled society?  We are looking more and more like the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany.  We aren't free. If you aren't part of the solution then you are part of the problem.    You work for us, not the Federal government.  You work FOR us, we don't work for you.  In the testimony before the Senate hearing an assistant to the director of DPS/License bureau referred to us as customers.  We aren't customers if we have no choice in whether we do business with you.  We sure aren't customers if we can go to jail for refusing to do business with you.  After the War for Independence can you imagine George Washington or Thomas Jefferson being stopped and checked for their papers or obtaining a license to ride their horse to town or church?

Yes, we live in very different times, but I put it to you that many of the evils we face are a result of government actions and more government actions will not solve the underlying problems.   It's the classic Hegelian Dialectic.  Cause a problem, provoke a reaction, and provide the solution.  The real result is more and more tyranny.

Campaign for Liberty has 18,988 members in Texas.   The overwhelming majority of our members oppose this legislation.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.  Benjamin Franklin

For Liberty,

Debbie McKee

Interim State Coordinator

Fox News Dirty Tricks Against Ron Paul No "Mistake"

News channel has consistently smeared and denigrated Congressman's presidential aspirations for years

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Thursday, February 17, 2011

Forgive me for being cynical, but Fox News' claim that airing the wrong CPAC footage and then introducing an interview with Ron Paul on the false premise that he had been booed was merely a "mistake" rings somewhat hollow, especially given the fact that Fox, along with the rest of the establishment media networks, have for years consistently denigrated the Congressman's presidential aspirations with a myriad of dirty tricks, lies and smear campaigns.

As we highlighted yesterday, in a shocking act of mass public deception, Fox News attempted to skew Ron Paul's 2011 CPAC straw poll win by representing it with footage from the previous year's CPAC event, at which Mitt Romney supporters had loudly booed the result and Paul supporters had been absent due to a Campaign for Liberty meeting running late

Fox News host Bill Hemmer framed his interview with Paul by immediately bringing up the boos, despite the fact that the real footage of this year's CPAC poll result showed Paul's victory being met with a loud chorus of cheers and applause.

In a statement provided to Mediaite, Fox's Senior Vice President of News Michael Clemente attempted to defuse the growing controversy over the incident by claiming it was all a harmless broadcasting error.

"We made a mistake with some of the video we aired, and plan on issuing a correction on America's Newsroom tomorrow morning explaining exactly what happened," said Clemente.

Really? It is plausible that this was just another "mistake"? How about the myriad of other "mistakes" Fox News makes a habit of committing, mistakes that coincidentally all serve to disparage Congressman Paul's message of liberty and freedom, along with his chances of becoming president?

"It's certainly plausible that Fox News merely made a mistake in pulling up the wrong video," adds Mediaite, noting that the explanation is unlikely to "Satisfy Paul supporters who seem to believe the network tried to disguise how much support the congressman has amongst the GOP base."

(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)

Was it another "mistake" to omit Paul's name entirely from a Fox News survey last week that asked who would make the best president? Was it a "mistake" that relative nobodies like John Thune and Jon Huntsman were included in the Fox poll and yet Paul was blacklisted entirely despite his CPAC success two years running?

Was it another "mistake" on behalf of Fox News to exclude Paul from a January 6 2008 presidential forum event because they saw the prospect of anti-war opinions being voiced by the most conservative member of the House as a "threat"?

Was it a "mistake" for Fox News to claim that their own May 2007 presidential poll, which Ron Paul won, was unreliable, because online Paul supporters had skewed the result, despite the fact that the survey was conducted via cell phone text messaging and no online votes were taken?

Was it a mere "mistake" for Fox News host Sean Hannity to deride the Texas Congressman's runaway success in the text messaging poll as nothing more than "Paulites" flood voting, when in reality only one vote per cell phone number was allowed? Hannity's contention that Ron Paul supporters were "were simply dialing in over and over again" was nothing more than a brazen lie intended to dismiss the Congressman's widespread popularity. No one at Fox News bothered to correct Hannity and no retraction was issued.

Was it another "mistake" when Fox News started editing Ron Paul's name out of Associated Press stories they syndicated before the 2008 presidential campaign?

Was it a "mistake" for Fox News to denigrate the fact that Ron Paul received the most campaign donations from members of the U.S. military by attributing it to "libertarian mailing lists"?

Was it a "mistake" when Fox News attempted to smear Ron Paul for having the audacity to appear on the Alex Jones Show and the nerve to merely converse with people who commit the thought crime of not completely trusting the official government version of 9/11?

Was it a "mistake" when Fox News rigged the structure of their entire May 2007 presidential debate and used it as a vehicle for all the other candidates to viciously attack Ron Paul, while Fox's pre-screened audience rapaciously applauded calls for torture and warmongering?

Was it a mistake when Fox News directors conspired to censor Ron Paul supporters from appearing in camera shots during the Mackinac Republican Conference on September 22, 2007, when they were caught on film stating, "I don't want these Ron Paul people, but I need shots of audience"?

Was it a "mistake" for Fox News to ignore a story every other news outlet was obliged to report, the record-breaking $4.2 million in campaign donations that Ron Paul achieved in a single day, while instead choosing to obsess about a man in Texas who sat in a bath tub full of snakes?

Were all of the examples contained in the video below showing rampant Fox News and other networks' bias against Ron Paul simply "mistakes" or something more?

Are all these examples merely "mistakes" or are they hard evidence of the fact that Fox News, in alliance with every other establishment media news network, has a deeply ingrained bias against Ron Paul's message and is scared stiff of him ever building enough momentum to have a chance of becoming president?

In sizing up the House of Representatives' recent vote on HR 514 (Patriot Act Renewal) several things stand out.  It is quite ironic that on January 6th House members are reading the Constitution and on February 8th the Republican leadership advocates suspending the rules in the name of roving wiretaps and "sneak and peek".   Speaker Boehner was so interested protecting the Constitution that he failed to cast a vote in the matter.

When the vote of the Texas delegation is examined it is clear the "writ of assistance" Republicans were voting in lock step with Representative Lamar Smith.  Smith was viewed to have "egg on this face" for failing to count the votes before hand.  Of particular disappointment are newly elected Representatives Caseco, Farenthold and Flores, who fell in line with the "old guard".  Farenthold has obviously abandoned his Tea Party base to become a TEOCON.  The lone Republican vote against the measure was cast by some obscure member from Lake Jackson.

The Democrats held party ranks on the measure with only 3 of the 9 defecting to the big brother caucus.  Representatives Cuellar, Hinojosa and Reyes should be recognized for going out of their respective "ways" to promote misguided Bush-era policies.

Please contact your Representative today and ask that they not "cherry-pick" which parts of the Constitution they support by promoting such oxymoronic legislation.
