Our mission at the Campaign for Liberty is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a non-interventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.
Hamilton county, in the Great State of Tennessee, has a strong constituency committed to Liberty and the United States Constitution. We in the Campaign For Liberty are dedicated to working at all levels of government to secure our freedoms. We are passionate about informing and educating. We are a group of your neighbors, we shop the same stores and fight for the same jobs. It has become our duty to set the precendence, to lead and no longer follow, to live, "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness"
On this Monday the Transportation Committee will be meeting and discussing red light/traffic cameras once again. The procamera lobby will on hand slapping backs and shaking hands. But I'm here to tell you that the largest lobby in Tennessee is WE THE PEOPLE! We simply can't sit still and do nothing any longer. The time for action is now! So on Monday morning please start ringing the phones off their hooks or out of their pockets. I know I've already sent this note once, but we need to go again. And we need to get everyone we know to call. Did you call last time? Did you? There are over 6 million people in Tennessee. Can you imagine what would happen if we ALL called? Ok, let's be realistic. What if 10% of us got on the phone? That's 600,000 calls! Not realistic enough? 1% of us would mean 60,000 calls and that would be the difference. Our numbers alone should make the difference. Those members that refuse to listen after that have labeled themselves as tyrants, collectivists, and proponents of Big Brother and they no longer represent the citizens of the sovereign state of Tennessee.
Understand the statement made when the state installs surveillance cameras to watch the public - YOU ARE GUILTY UNTIL WE PROVE YOU INNOCENT!
When we call, we should be firm and clear in our statement that we are opposed to all traffic cameras in Tennessee and want them removed, but we should also be civil and courteous in our interactions. We need to be effective not just loud.
This is the start of a new legislative session. What are you going to do? Listen to the piper warming up on the hill. Come join the growing number of us with " ... our banners ripplin' in the wind ...". We need you all!
With the state of Tennessee affirming its position with the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, what is the point if we continue to consent our sovereignty away?
The Federal House of Representatives is in the process of again limiting our freedom for more invisible prosperity, with passing their version of nationalized health care, an issue which is not expressly delegated by the constitution. Not even the courtesy of amendment, an insult to our supreme law and republic.
If you truly respected and champion the economy and freedom of this state, then you would author and/or sponsor legislation protecting our citizens from having their rights and pursuit of happiness taken from them. Protect us, be a servant of the Constitution, and our Great Sovereign State of Tennessee.
The rhetoric of the supporting party in the US Congress on the night of passing was so abhorrent to our republic and to the divine unalienable rights that are inherent to us. The nation is ill; lies deception ignorance and confusion all blend together.
General welfare is not a right, or provided service, it's the duty of the state to make sure it protects all citizens, not the powerful or wealthy.
I Jeremy Brian Dahl, openly denounce the unconstitutional and illegal acts of the Federal Government, and request that you, my representatives uphold your oath and duty. Your apathy to do nothing will be consent that will be recognized by the people, your initiatives of diligence, honor, and liberty will be remembered for all times.

Missing GOP Ballots Finally Counted in Nevada Posted: Nov 01, 2009 2:14 AM EST
"Eighteen months later, all delegate ballots from a recessed Nevada state GOP convention have finally been counted.
A group of disaffected Republicans say they feel vindicated after a Friday night count of missing ballots from the April 2008 gathering showed three delegates for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul should have been sent to the national convention.
Ballots for national convention delegates from the state's 2nd Congressional District were not counted at last year's convention.
The district was allowed to choose three of the state's 34 delegates.
The 2008 convention was recessed after Paul supporters won a rule change that allowed them to vote Paul delegates to the convention.
Party leaders say the count will have no real impact, but they hope it brings closure to Paul supporters. "
Apparently US Representative and TN Gubernatorial candidate "Zigzag-Zach" Wamp has cosponsored a bill that will unionize fire, police, and EMTs across the country.
HR 413 which "Zigzag-Zach" has signed on to provides "collective bargaining rights for public safety officers employed by States or their political subdivisions."
Can someone cite where in the US Constitution the federal government is allowed to have anything to do with unions, or police/fire/medical services?
Besides being blatantly unconstitutional this bill also subjugates the power of the State governments as guaranteed in the 10th Amendment. And finally the bill "grants" power to the Labor Relations Authority (yet another unconstitutional entity) that Congress itself does not possess. How can Congress give something it doesn't have?
If Representative "Zigzag-Zach" Wamp continually disregards the US Constitution, which by the way he took an oath to uphold, then why should the People of Tennessee trust him with even more power by elevating him to the office of Governor?
This was brought to my attention in a recent letter delivered to Rep "Zigzag-Zach" Wamp's office by the National Right To Work Committee. You can view the letter here.
Unbeknown to me at the time of this posting the TN Republican Party just today sent out an e-mail decrying Democrat Ty Cobb for his association with the SEIU, and calling Cobb a "Big Labor, Big Union candidate". This simply goes to further show how far away Rep "Zigzag Zach" Wamp has wandered from Constitutional / limited-government Republican principles by supporting federal unionization such as HR413.
Matt Collins is the Vice Chair of both the Davidson County (Nashville) Republican Party and the TN Republican Liberty Caucus. He is also the Davidson County Coordinator for the Campaign for Liberty, and a talk radio producer at 99.7 WTN. Nothing he communicates is to be considered an official statement representative of any organization he belongs to or is an officer of, including the Campaign for Liberty, Republican Liberty Caucus, WTN, Liberty on the Rocks, America's Future Foundation, The Tennessee Liberty Alliance, Rand Paul for Senate, or the Davidson County (Nashville) Republican Party. His opinions are his own.
It appears that TN Republican Senators "Large-Government-Lamar" Alexander and "Bailout-Bob" Corker are getting ready to violate the Constitution once again and want to meet President BO half way with a compromise on the health care bill.
In this recent video Senator Corker says the following about the effort to Audit the Federal Reserve:
"I hope that you'll do everything you can to make sure the Fed maintains its independence.
I can't imagine a greater catastrophe for our country... for folks like us (in Congress), or in the Administration, getting involved in monetary policy.
I urge you to do everything you can to stay independent, and hope that we will enable that to happen."
Whether there is any relation to his position on this issue or not it is interesting to note that some of Sen Corker's top contributors consist of PACs and employees from the following companies:
Also worth noting is that the financial / insurance sector was the largest of all the sectors giving to Sen Corker's campaign at $3 million; again no relation to his position is implied. See http://www.opensecrets.org for more details on who is backing Sen Corker and others.
The way I understand what Sens Alexander and Corker are trying to say is that they don't want to politicize monetary policy. Opening up the Fed to debate, in their minds, would allow Congress to politicize monetary policy. One of the stated reasons the Federal Reserve was created was so that monetary policy would be in the hands of an independent 3rd party away from the fleeting and fickle whims of Congress. Perhaps a good idea, except that it's unconstitutional because the Constitution does not grant Congress the authority to delegate that specific power to an external entity, especially one that is non-governmental. The Constitution also does not grant the US government the power to create (fiat) currency out of thin air.
The Constitution says: "Congress shall have the power to coin money, and regulate the value thereof... and to *fix the standard of weights and measures"
[*Setting standards for weights and measures is important so that everyone knows how much an "ounce" of gold is. Since the Constitution does not allow for fiat currency defining an "ounce" is critical to ensure that specie and bullion are measured using consistent standards.]
While Sens Corker and Alexander may be correct that Congress will not be responsible enough to handle the power to manage monetary policy, allowing that responsibility to remain pawned off to an independent, unscrutinized, unopen, unaccountable, and non-transparant, 3rd party is not the solution either. The solution is for Congress to actually become responsible and fulfill it's Constitutional obligations as spelled out in our founding document.

The Camp Jordan gun show, which ran may 30-31st in East Ridge, Tn, has come and gone. The Gun Show is our area's busiest defense swap meet, with a real community feel and a strong constitutional respect, it is a great american venue. Campaign for Liberty had a wonderful opportunity this weekend to spread the message of liberty, and the empowerment of civic activity.
Thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to make our booths, a success! I think it is very evident that a weekly community update will be needed! A huge amount of thanks goes to Rick Beecher who donated a table to the Campaign. I must say as well, that he ran a John Birch Society table next to us, and we both had a great weekend. Handed out, easily, was 250+ copies of the Bill of Rights, and CfL pamphlets, and we took in a small amount of donations.
Our mission is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity. That is why the Campaign for Liberty was established: to highlight the neglected but common-sense principles we champion and reinsert them into the American political conversation. Our country is ailing. That is the bad news. The good news is that the remedy is so simple and attractive: a return to the principles our Founders taught us. Respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, individual liberty, sound money, and a noninterventionist foreign policy constitute the foundation of the Campaign for Liberty.
This was a great week for Liberty in Hamilton County... I want to thank, Jeff Stiles at WGOW, with the "Fred the Show" program, interviewed local Campaign for Liberty members, Brent Stott, Eric McGaffic, and myself. Brent was the "go to" guy with this, who made it possible. This weekend is the Camp Jordan Gun Show, where we will have a booth, volunteers are appreciated and if you want to bring any materials to hand out, anything would be a good addition. Contact me if you can help, or share any ideas.
We need copies of all of these, the first and second is the most important... 1207 facts should be edited to say sb604, and have Sen. Bernard Sanders [I, VT] listed as author. Also it would be nice, if we could edit the c4l flier, take out some things and add a little.

Wikipedia Biography: Peter Thiel "Born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and raised in Foster City, California, Thiel was a US-rated Chess Master and one of the highest ranked under-21 players in the country [2] He studied 20th century philosophy as an undergraduate at Stanford University. An avowed libertarian, he founded The Stanford Review, now the university's main conservative/libertarian newspaper. After earning his J.D. from Stanford in 1992, Thiel clerked for Judge J.L. Edmondson of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, practiced law and later traded derivatives. He eventually founded Thiel Capital Management, a multistrategy fund, in 1996. After co-founding PayPal, Thiel took the company public on Feb. 15, 2002, and sold it to eBay for USD 1.5 billion later that year.[3] His 3.7 percent stake in PayPal was worth approximately $55 million at the time of the acquisition.[4] Immediately after the sale, Thiel relaunched his fund with a new name, Clarium, pursuing a global macro strategy. In 2005, Clarium was honored as global macro fund of the year by both MarHedge and Absolute Return, two trade magazines. Thiel's approach to investing became the subject of a chapter in Steve Drobny's book, Inside the House of Money. In addition to Facebook, Thiel has made early-stage investments in several startups, including Slide, LinkedIn, Friendster, Geni.com, Yammer, Yelp, Powerset, Vator, Palantir Technologies, Joyent and IronPort. Slide, LinkedIn, Yelp, Geni.com, Yammer, and IronPort were each founded by colleagues of Thiel's from PayPal. Fortune magazine reports that PayPal alumni have founded or invested in dozens of startups with an aggregate value, according to Thiel, of around $30 billion. In Silicon Valley circles, Thiel is colloquially referred to as the "Don of the PayPal Mafia", as noted in the Fortune magazine article [5] Thiel is an occasional commentator on CNBC, having appeared numerous times on both Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo, and Squawk Box with Becky Quick [6]. He's twice been interviewed by Charlie Rose on PBS [7]. In 2006, he won the Herman Lay Award for Entrepreneurship.[8] In 2007, he was honored as a Young Global leader by the World Economic Forum as one of the 250 most distinguished leaders age 40 and under.[citation needed] [9] He was also reported to be an attendee of the elite and highly secretive Bilderberg Group conference in 2007, 2008[10]. AND 2009!!! " ....... can someone tell me what is wrong with this!?!?!?
Someone should let him know, he is not a libertarian if he takes part in the most elite/secret/exculusive global government meetings!
With Liberty, Jeremy Dahl (C4L Hamilton County Coordinator)
It was great seeing and meeting with about 30 liberty-loving folks at our monthly meeting on 4/21. We started the meeting discussing the fast growth in our group membership during the last 2 months, and we reviewed the mission statement of the Campaign for Liberty.
Next we discussed current legislation and encouraged participation by contacting legislators and letting them know why something should be supported or opposed. It is crucial that we make our voice heard!
Then we discussed upcoming events in which we will have opportunities to get the word out about the Campaign for Liberty group and give out educational material. There are several projects in the works and working groups are forming to plan for these events. Let us know if you are interested in joining in!
Lastly we reviewed recent events which several members of our Campaign for Liberty group participated in, and discussed ways to improve on getting out the message, including discussion on getting materials and a banner to have for these events.
After the meeting there was plenty of good discussion going on as folks picked up material about legislation and about the Campaign for Liberty to pass out to friends and neighbors.
This is a great time to network with others who are concerned about these issues. We hope you'll plan to join us next time! If you want to mark it on your calendar, we will continue to meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month. It will be posted on our Hamilton County calendar soon for more details.
So, saturday night, when i was eating dinner, I just happened to grab a copy of Hamilton County's very own "Pulse" magazine. Naturally, rather than being a good dinner partner, and making good conversation, i discovered that the very next day at 3pm, there was a meeting at the "Rock Point Books" (broad st., near lupi's, ect), discussing, of all things, the Declaration of Independance. With all the campaign work of late, i knew i had to make it. So, i opened up my schedule, and voila, the next evening, i found myself among 15(+/-) enthusiastic citizens, discussing the wording, intent, and history around the parchment. Then towards the end, the group broke out in a very eclectic conversation, hitting all areas of political intriuging, that could possibly surround the document.
I should say, that i knew instantly that this was going to be a great night...
a)Declaration of Independance (nuff said)
b)a varied, and intellectual group
c)The group leader, was carrying "Give me Liberty" by Naomi Wolf
Well, after rounds of conversation and debate, a moment arised where (our) Campaign for Liberty, needed to be discussed. There was actually a few non-active members present, and several others interested in local politcal activism. Long story short, I ended up not getting home for about 3-4 hours. It is so reassuring, to see that our cause, which some days can seem like a solo mission, is far more universal than i am sometimes lead to feel.
To conclude, there will be two more meetings at the same place, this time discussing the constitution. it will be on the 1st and 3rd sundays of march, at 3pm... in rock point books. I would definately sugest for as many members make it to these as possible. We really need to make our activism known, to start taking our place in the county's power structure... not too mention, it should be just plain fun. I will definately be there, and will probably bring a guest or two.
