Sixteen people or so gathered at the Brighton Hilton in another Campaign for Liberty meeting.

C4L Coordinator Greg Brown welcomed the attendees and began the campaign by reviewing the goals.

To promote and defend these great American principles by means of educational and political activity:

  • individual liberty
  • constitutional government
  • sound money
  • free markets
  • non-interventionist foreign policy

He also explained that he was a coordinator, not the leader of the group. One of his tasks is to coordinate Livingston County activities with state and national. Campaign for Liberty

Jason followed Greg and told his story as a family man concerned for his young children. He was no longer willing to wait for a leader to step forward to show the way. He was going to be the leader he wanted as best he can. His call to action asked us to do the same.

Jason introduced Wendy Day our keynote speaker. Day was the organizer of the April 15 2009 Tea Party in Lansing. She began with a personal recommendation of the movie "Amazing Grace". She continued talking about the excitement of arranging and implementing the Lansing Tea Party.

An important part of her current efforts involves looking up the voting records of Michigan Legislators. Their records and their position on the principles of liberty, individual responsibility and limited government are questioned, identified and posted for everyone's benefit.

A question and answer period was followed by a recruitment request for the Campaign for Liberty and a reminder of the next meeting On November 10 at 7:00PM at the Brighton House Restaurant.

On July 25, 2009, Livingston County members of Campaign For Liberty met to organize coordinated activities in the county. The meeting served as the first time most had met each other in person. It also provided an opportunity to attendees to meet like-minded people, network, discuss the issues of the day and begin planning recruitment, educational, and other activities in the county.

The meeting was a success. The attendees were enthusiastic and eager to take the message of liberty to the people of Livingston County. A number of good ideas were generated and a few were chosen to research and follow up on.

The meeting was held at Dave and Angie Canny's house, so they get thanks for the use of their place. I particularly liked the fact that everyone brought some food to share.

The next meeting was scheduled for the following weekend, as everyone wanted to get on the ball and reach out to people.

The only ones disappointed were the kids as the weather kept them from swimming. Hopefully for them, the weather will cooperate more next time.

Our November 3rd meeting was a great success!

A number of new (and veteran) faces came out to hear Wendy Day talk about her experience organizing the April 15, 2009 Lansing Tea Party as well as her ongoing efforts to hold Lansing politicians feet to the fire.

She shared with us her tactics and amusing anecdotes to put pain on politicians who let the power go to their heads and start ignoring their earlier professions against raising taxes and government largesse.

Yours truly gave a brief overview of Campaign for Liberty's activities and principles to start things off and ended with a call to join and donate. Along those lines, we were able to add to our mailing list and sign up several new members from our county and neighboring Genesee county.

Overall, it was a successful evening and a great way to kick off our late autum/winter meetings where we can focus on learning more about being involved and affecting the political process to take our country back and restore liberty.

Our next meeting will be on November 10, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brighton House Restaurant in Brighton, MI. Come on out and we will decide what we want to focus on learning together first.
