Welcome to the Tazewell County profile for Campaign for Liberty!
Several impressive accomplishments have been made in this and the surrounding areas and I am VERY PROUD to be a part of it. Since we have become organized in Central Illinois, we have hosted and been active in several community events to help spread the word about the Campaign for Liberty. Our goals are to follow the national agenda and to also think outside of the box and go that extra mile to raise awareness in our own back yard. We encourage everyone to get involved in ANY way that they can for the sake of Liberty. We have a lot of fun attending local music events, festivals and parades while getting our message out there. Our key to success has been a simple but very valuable one... INFORMATION BOOTHS!!! Thanks to the combined efforts of the wonderful members of our group, we have managed to present a very professional set-up that we use at these events. We have created a great attention getting banner and a 10 foot by 10 foot booth FULL of information about the Campaign for Liberty. We use this space to engage in conversation with passers by, gather signatures, gain new membership and hand out relevant information about our cause and upcoming legislation. This has proven to be a great formula in gathering signatures on petitions and letters to our elected officials. Thus far we have gathered over 1,000 signatures for H.R. 1207 and have surpassed that with over 1,500 signatures to Senator Dick Durbin asking for his support in S. 604, The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. It is a great feeling to be involved in the community and know that we are helping in the fight for our Liberty!
On tax day, April 15th, we hosted a Tax Day Tea Party at the Peoria County Courthouse in which we were able to gather nearly 1,000 signed letters to Aaron Schock urging him to support Ron Paul's H.R. 1207 to Audit the Federal Reserve. The Tea Party was a HUGE success thanks to everyone who got involved. Some people took an extended lunch brake and stopped by for a few minutes to sign a petition and others played hooky from work and marched around the block with us. Our voices WERE heard on that day and it doesn't stop there! This was the beginning...a momentum that won't be slowed down...
Aaron Schock resonded to our letters and phone calls and we are proud to say that he DID sign on to co-sponsor H.R. 1207 to Audit the Federal Reserve. Thanks to the combined efforts of our group and area citizens who signed letters and made phone calls, we were able to reach the first of one of our many very important goals. Thanks, Aaron!
Summer Camp 2009 in Chillicothe was a great way to reach our "younger" minds in the area. We set up camp for 3 days/2 nights. It was a great experience and we were able to see a whole new outlook on how the younger generations views politics. We met several people who were familiar with Ron Paul and even picked up a new member or two. As we collected more signatures, we were able to enjoy a variety of music ranging from Buckethead to Willie Nelson. Experiences like these will never be forgotten and we were told that we made a lasting impression on Summercamp this year. Its pretty safe to say we will be camping again next year!
Next came the Washington Cherry Festival. For being such a small town, we sure gained alot of support for S.604. Our Campaign for Liberty booth was located In a giant tent surrounded by booths from various local businesses. Some of the businesses had games for children to play or had prizes to win, but somehow, our booth had the most traffic... non-stop... both days of the festival! Maybe it was the jar of candy, but I am pretty sure that it was our giant CONSTITUTION ON WHEELS! We owe a HUGE thanks to Russell, the Event Coordinator for our Central Illinois Campaign for Liberty Group. Russell has obtained an official Constitution from the National Constitution Center and mounted it on a large wagon to be signed by anyone and everyone. Once we gather enough signatures, we will send it in to be archived. It is a MUST SEE!!! This is a good way to get people into our booth to get them interested in what we have to say.
The Tremont Turkey Festival was the next stop on our C4L summer festival tour! Following the same formula, we were able to gather even more signed letter to Senator Durbin asking for his support of S.604. Some of our members even marched in the Turkey Festival parade. What a great way to get our name out there in the community!
The Universal Rhythm Assembly got C4L some more local exposure and yes, MORE signatures...it's great! Again, we were able to hear some great music while we mingled with the crowd and participated in some political debate. This was a fun weekend for everyone who participated despite the thunderstorm and 60 MPH winds that arrived on the last night. We made some new C4L friends and got some good feedback from an all ages crowd!
To help celebrate what is left of our Liberty and Independence, the West Peoria 4th of July parade proved to be one of the most inspirational events to date. Here is why we feel inspired... It was one of the rainiest days we've had all summer, it must have rained 5 inches within the 2 hour long parade, but you couldn't believe the amount of people who still lined the streets waving and cheering as we walked past! We carried our banner proudly and handed out C4L brochures. Russell pulled the Constitution on Wheels down the streets while throwing candy for the children. We also had 2 little boys in a wagon decorated with "Support S.604 to Audit the Federal Reserve" signs along the sides. Despite the rain, it was a great day!
We hope that you will join us in the fight for our Liberty!
Stay tuned for upcoming events...

The Central Illinois C4L chapter has already had an eventful start to the summer. We have had our information booth at the Washington Cherry Festival, Tremont Turkey Festival, and marched it the Tremont Parade. We were pleased to hold a screening of the new film "Don't Tread on Me" on Saturday, June 26th at the Peoria Theater. Producer, Gary Franchi, attended our screening as our special guest and answered audience questions after the show. It was a great blessing to have Gary as our guest, along with Randy Stufflebeam, US Senate Candidate in Illinois for the Constitution Party. We would like to thank John Brewster for his tireless efforts and strong convictions. Without his efforts, these powerful guest speakers would not have been in attendance to share their knowledge.
We have a busy summer ahead of us and can use all the help we can get in making this another successful year. Check us out and join us if you can! You will be able to see lots of local information about events and other important news at our local blog @ www.centralillinoisliberty.com. As always, you can find us every Saturday at Vertucci's Chicago Style Eats in East Peoria across from the Paradice Riverboat Casino. We meet at 11am for informal discussion, planning, action items, and great eats!

HR 1207 has come a long way in the 8+ months that we've been working on it, and currently has 308 cosponsors in the House. This is truly an amazing accomplishment when you consider that Dr. Paul has been trying to bring awareness to the secrecy of the Fed for 30 years with little notice by his peers, or from the public at large. We have proven that we are a force to be reckoned with. In under a year, we worked to gain the support of 308 members of the House, and we also saw HR 1207 receive a hearing in front of the House Financial Services Committee.
Of course, when liberty's light begins to shine through the muck and the mire, the establishment takes notice, and they tend to fight back.
According to Campaign for Liberty President, John Tate:
Mel Watt (D-NC), Chairman of the Monetary Policy Subcommittee, has sided with banking interests and is working to gut substantial audit provisions from H.R. 1207. The bill Congressman Watt has sent to the full Financial Services Committee contains no audit of the Fed’s monetary policy-making authority or transparency of the Fed’s secret agreements with foreign central banks.
Without these provisions, a so-called “audit” of the Fed would be worthless.
HR 1207 could be voted on by the full House Financial Services Committee this week, and it is imperative that we act now to ensure that the original language is restored.
While Dr. Paul will be offering an amendment to restore the original provisions contained in HR 1207, he needs our help to ensure that when the vote is taken, those who have already cosponsored the bill remain faithful to their promise to support a full audit of the Federal Reserve. The committee is made up of 41 Democrats and 29 Republicans. 13 of the Democrats who serve on the House Financial Services Committee have cosponsored this bill, and we need to call them and urge them to vote "YES" on the Paul Amendment.
The following is a list of the 13 Democrats who have cosponsored:
1. Rep. John Adler, NJ (202) 225-4765
2. Rep. Travis Childers, MS (202) 225-4306
3. Rep. Steve Driehaus, OH (202) 225-2216
4. Rep. Alan Grayson, FL (202) 225-2176
5. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa, TX (202) 225-2531
6. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, FL Toll Free: 1-877-956-7627
7. Rep. Dan Maffei, NY (202) 225-3701
8. Rep. Brad Miller, NC (202) 225-3032
9. Rep. Walt Minnick, ID (202) 225-6611
10. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, CO (202)-225-2645
11. Rep. David Scott, GA (202) 225-2939
12. Rep. Brad Sherman, CA (202) 225-5911
13. Rep. Jackie Speier, CA (202) 225-3531
When contacting these members, remember that up to this point, these members have been allies on this issue. A civil yet firm tone should be kept during these calls. They should be thanked for their cosponsorship, told that Mel Watt’s changes to the bill are unacceptable, and urged to hold the line and honor their promise to support transparency at the Fed by voting “Yes” for the Paul amendment.
We can win this, our first major battle, but in order to do so, we must see it through and call these Representatives. In addition to that, please remember to call Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and urge them to schedule a "stand-alone, up or down vote on the real Audit the Fed bill".
Rep. Barney Frank: (202) 225-5931
Speaker Nancy Pelosi: (202) 225-0100
With a little more effort, we will see HR 1207 pass the House.
