Our Founders knew the dangers of Fascism and Healthcare!
We must all realize that ANY OR ALL Bills related to healthcare are Un-Constitutional and USURP our In-Alienable Rights as endowed by GOD our Creator! Remember our Constitution specifically states, "to promote" NOT PROVIDE for the General Welfare! If we would have only perpetuated the knowledge of these true patriots we would not be down this Fascist Road...

Limits of Governmental Aid and Assistance:
"Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XVII, 1782. ME 2:222
"I hope we shall take warning from the example of England and crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our Government to trial, and bid defiance to the laws of our country "
~Thomas Jefferson (Letter to George Logan 1816)
With respect to the words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.
~James Madison (Letter to James Robertson (1831-04-20)
"If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
--Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Thomas Cooper, 1802. ME 10:342)
"A most powerful objection always arises to propositions of [public works]. It is that public undertakings are carelessly managed and much money spent to little purpose."
--Thomas Jefferson to George Washington, 1784. Papers 7:27

Anyone watching the news lately has most likely perked their ears at any mention of the recession because it’s something that effects us all. The government has been pushing a number of different policies through in an effort to combat the growing recession alongside the three stimulus packages. The one program that filled the news the most before the health-care debacle was nicknamed Cash for Clunkers. It was touted as a success by the establishment due to the large amount of participation by the public. Cash for Clunkers was a program whereby the government would give a person money towards a new car if they would trade in their old car. The Problem, however, was that Cash for Clunkers did not actually help the economy instead it hurt it by increasing economic disparity and destroying goods needlessly.
Economic disparity hurts the economy by enlarging the class of people, the poor, who use the same or more goods and services than they create. On the surface it may seem that programs like Cash for Clunkers do not affect the social structure but they do. My first car was given to me by my sister when she and her husband decided to buy a new minivan. She wouldn’t have gotten very much money for it had she sold it, so it was an easy decision in her mind to give her car to me who could not afford one at the time instead of selling it. However, had the Cash for Clunkers program been in place at the time, getting 3′500 dollars off on her new minivan probably would have been the route she would have taken and I wouldn’t have blamed her. This process of giving away or selling at a low rate cars that no longer have a high value and yet are still in working condition allows people to buy or receive cars who would not otherwise be able to. This increases their range and mobility in finding work which in turn increases a companies potential employees. We will begin to see the price of used cars rapidly rise as the market adjusts to having 690′000 used cars out of the economy.
Worse so than creating economic disparity is how Cash for Clunkers claims to help the economy by destroying goods. Edmunds.com has come out with the claim that only 125′000 of the cars bought in the program were from people who had not already planned to buy a car so that is essentially what is happening. The government pays people to destroy something that has remaining potential so that they will buy new goods and increase the gross domestic product. The idea is not all that new, in fact it dates back to the 19th century. A french politician by the name of M.F. Chamans theorized that if the government were to burn Paris to the ground it would grow the economy by creating new jobs and new demand for goods. It sounds radical but in fact shortly after hurricane Katrina there were news analysts saying the same thing, that our economy would benefit from New Orleans having been destroyed. Thankfully, better minds prevailed and no actions towards destroying Paris ever came about. Although Chamans theories were quite popular, his theories were refuted by an economic theorist named Frederic Bastiat in an essay entitled “That Which is Seen and That Which is Not Seen.” In it Bastiat tells the story of a shopkeeper whose son accidentally breaks a pan of glass from the shop window. Chamans would say that the breaking of the glass was good for the economy because it keeps the glass maker employed, however Bastiat says that idea only takes into account the seen. The unseen is that if his window pane had not been broken the shopkeeper could have bought something he actually needed, that might have increased his business and yet he would also have the benefit of the pane of glass. By destroying the pane of glass the shopkeeper loses his pane of glass and also loses the benefit of whatever he would have bought instead.
The same is true of Cash for Clunkers, by destroying working cars the economy loses both the benefits of the car along with whatever would have been bought in its place. Since the three billion dollars used to pay for Cash for Clunkers came from the taxpayers we lost money that would have been spent buying goods. Also companies lost money that would have been spent increasing the output of goods, and employing more people. Which would have grown the economy. Our political leaders would be wise to listen to the advice that things that seem to good to be true, normally are. And we as voters would be wise to not elect politicians who don’t even have a rudimentary understanding of economics.
"He wants our troops to come home, She would consider sending more. He abhors torture, She turns her head to it. He wants to open the Federal Reserve's books and audit the place, She is trying to stop that from happening..."
We the hard working, Declaration of Independence - Constitutional supporting, God fearing, free, born and bred United States Citizens will never give in nor will we give up!
The efforts of those who support and uphold our heritage, past present and future, shall not go in vain. For it is better to fight and die free than to be bound in the chains of Social Servitude Slavery!
"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending against all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks!"
The Tree of Liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants. So let it happen in my time so that my children and grandchildren will remain free!
Since the introduction of House Memorial 19 (HM19), which “Urges Congress to honor provisions of U. S. Constitution & U. S. Supreme Court case law which limit scope & exercise of federal power”, this piece of legislation now has 47 co-sponsors plus its prime sponsor, Representative Ritch of Brevard County.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that the Federal government staff and various minions now occupying Florida are packing up. No, they have not started to request moving vans destined for Washington, D.C.
This is a ‘Memorial’ as opposed to a ‘resolution’. Resolutions are for things like ‘key lime pie is the state pie of Florida.’ Resolutions also stay within the state level of documents. Memorials on the other hand are passed on to the national level. For instance this one (if passed) will be handed over to all of the United States Congressmen and Senators from Florida, who will in turn request that the Executive branch start obeying the 10th Amendment and stop overreaching into state affairs. It also means that we have an official filing in the Florida State House Legislature docket.
Activists should start calling all of their State House Representatives and ask them to sign on as co-sponsors of House Memorial 19 (HM19) if they have not already done so. If there are enough co-sponsors this timely and important piece of legislation will most likely win passage on the first day of the Legislature meets in March 2010.
Why did Representative Workman and main co-sponsor Representative Scott Plakon of Seminole County got this resolution together so early? It has to do with the way the legislature does its work. Documents with lower numbers like HM 19 are not as likely to get lost in the shuffle, as would HM 7019, for example (the numbers of items do actually get this high as the session nears). This early start allows citizens time to start the lobbying effort required to pass it. Additionally, the representatives created this ‘memorial’ early to coincide with the national 4th of July (Independence Day) holiday. No better present could be given to Florida citizens! However, the work has just begun.
Opposition to this bill will most likely come from both Democrats and Republicans alike that are misinformed about the nature of HM19. These educationally-challenged legislators should know that the Federal government is in breach of their constitutionally mandated limits. This is the first step that will remind the D.C. bureaucrats that we the people are watching them. We want to put a stop to this infringement of our rights.
The Florida House has also proposed two additional pieces of legislation to further strengthen the sovereignty of our State and the independence of her citizens.
These are House HB 21, The Firearms Freedom Act, which seeks to provide “that specified firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition for personal use manufactured in state are not subject to federal law or regulation” in the State of Florida and House HJR 37, The Health Care Freedom Act. This act is a proposed state constitutional amendment that would prevent Florida citizens from being affected by federal health "reform." It provides that any "law or rule shall not compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system," and specifies people and employers can’t be fined for not buying insurance. The bill does not ban federal programs such as Medicare and Medicaid in our state; it simply focuses on restricting the federal government from forcing Floridians to participate in an insurance policy, whether public or private. If approved by the state legislature, Florida residents may vote on the amendment in 2010.
Our Legislature is planning ahead to restore our liberty and they need our help. Citizens are urged to find out whom their Florida State House Representative and Florida State Senator is. This is easy to do by visiting myfloridahouse.gov and http://www.flsenate.gov on the Internet. Contact them and make sure to get a firm commitment to support HM19, HB21 and HJR37.
You can make a difference for the liberty and freedom of the citizens of Florida.
The drive to audit the Federal Reserve continues to gain momentum thanks to hundreds of thousands of patriots like you that have made their voices heard on this issue. Now we need your help again to make sure that our efforts end in victory. We will get an audit bill passed if we get your support!
Here's the situation:
Right now there are 282 co-sponsors to H.R.1207 in the House of Representatives. That's just under 2/3rds of the House, a truly remarkable accomplishment. How did we get there? By calling our congressmen, signing petitions, sending letters, and by letting our representatives know in every possible way that this issue is important to us and important to America.
But there is still work to be done in the Senate. The Audit the Fed companion bill, S.604 has 23 co-sponsors. That's a great start and the bill is certainly gaining momentum, with 20 co-sponsors since the 4th of July. But to overcome resistance from the Senate leadership, we're going to need even greater support.
We didn't come this far to watch an audit bill stall out in the Senate!
That's why the Campaign for Liberty is organizing a nationwide effort, "30 Days of Action," to bring as many senators as possible on board with S.604. Last spring a similar effort for H.R.1207 resulted in over 50 new co-sponsors as the support in the House doubled in just a few weeks.
Since that time our organization has grown and the American people have become increasingly aware of the damage being done to our country by the Federal Reserve. Over 75% of Americans want to see an audit of the Fed, and Americans actually think less of the Federal Reserve than the hated IRS. We've made monetary policy a key issue in the public conscience. Our efforts can and will be more successful during these coming 30 Days of Action.
Here is what we need from every lover of liberty in the state of Florida: 1. We need you to sign and collect petitions for S.604. Your local coordinators will be contacting you on where you can sign or help to collect petitions. But you don't have to wait for instructions! Visit the Campaign for Liberty website or the brand new AuditTheFed.com to download and print petitions and get any signatures you can. This is the perfect time to get out and meet your neighbors and spread the message of liberty.
2. We need you to talk to your Senators at public appearances. Politicians are hiding from protesters unhappy with big government, which means we don't know where or when Senators Nelson will make an appearance. Who knows who & when Governor Crist will appoint? Keep your eyes open, and if there is going to be an event make sure that you talk to your Senators about S.604.
3. We need you to sign-up to call your Senator's office. The last week of the 30 Days of Action will include a nationwide phone campaign to keep our senator's phones ringing off the hook. Go to the AuditTheFed.com website and sign up for a time to call. Then remember to call both Senators. Our goal is to have someone call every 5 minutes. That's just 500 callers for the entire week, a goal we should accomplish easily. If you forget to sign-up or you can't find a convenient time available, don't let that stop you. Make the call!
4. We need everyone to show-up for the big petition drop-off event on September 15th at 4PM in Orlando & Tampa. The Campaign for Liberty's 30 Days of Action will culminate with nationwide visits to local Senate offices. Our goal is to have over 100 people show up for the Orlando & Tampa rallies at the Senators' offices to drop-off thousands of petitions.
Make plans to be there! If you can't make it to this location, contact your local coordinator with the Campaign for Liberty. Smaller events will be planned at office locations across the state.
We know what we have to do to succeed. We also know that victory could mean a revolution in the United States' monetary policy, once the workings of the Fed are finally revealed.
If that's not enough motivation (really?), to make things interesting, Campaign for Liberty is upping the stakes. The person who gathers the most signatures in each state (as certified by a State, Regional, or County Coordinator) will win a pocket Constitution and a copy of Dr. Paul's new book End the Fed, both autographed by Dr. Paul himself.
And whichever state collects the most signatures (as a percentage of population) will win a $1,500 gift certificate to the Campaign for Liberty store.
This letter should be sent to every network and this teacher should be put on the show-except for Oprah-she'd NEVER allow this no matter how true it is.

Mr. Obama: I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.
You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of America . You are responsible to the citizens of the United States ... You are not responsible to the people of any other country on Earth.
I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were all about if not the consideration of the people of Europe ? Are you brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not understand or know the history of the 20th century?
Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States does not consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution of the United States? This country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and the principles governing this country, at least until you came along, come directly from this heritage. Do you not understand this?
Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all Americans. Our President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the king of Saudi Arabia . You didn't show Great Britain, our best and one of our oldest allies, the respect they deserve yet you bow down to the king of Saudi Arabia .. How dare you, sir! How dare you!
You can't find the time to visit the graves of our greatest generation because you don't want to offend the Germans but make time to visit a mosque in Turkey ... You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves.
What's the matter with you? I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.
You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.
What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their staff members - on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that lawmakers gave themselves?
I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer. You haven't said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn't!
Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51 million - not a bad take.
Who authorized that and why haven't you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have right now.
I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you.
I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.
Sincerely, Every real American Ms Kathleen Lyday Fourth Grade Teacher Grandview Elementary School Hillsboro, MO 63050
PLEASE SEND THIS TO YOUR EMAIL LIST......it's past time for all Americans to wake up!
Thanks to your willingness to support the "Free Our Health Care NOW!" petition where over 740,000 Americans have voiced their opposition to nationalized health care and the increased cost, reduced access and lower quality which it threatens to impose on us!
At his press conference Wednesday night, President Obama admitted that the government will be intervening between you and your doctor. Only to prevent "unnecessary" care, he said but it will be the government, not the doctor who decides what's necessary. This is worrisome!
The nationalized health care plan proposed by President Obama calls for rationed care. Rationed care requires that patients forego medical procedures which fail to meet federal approval. Under nationalized health care, a bureaucrat will have the power to delay or deny care to a patient without regard for the patient's medical needs or for the physician's advice.
In Canada and the United Kingdom, both of which have adopted a nationalized health care system, patients' access to care is far more restricted and wait times are far longer than in the United States. Consider the following wait times:
Better late... In a recent survey of adults suffering from a chronic condition, 74% of U.S. patients met with a specialist within four weeks of scheduling an appointment. By comparison, only 42% of British patients and just 40% of Canadian patients were able to meet with a specialist in the first four weeks suffering from their condition.
...than Never? In the same survey, 33% of patients in the United Kingdom and 42% of patients in Canada waited for more than 2 months before meeting with a specialist to address their chronic condition. In the United States, only 10% of patients waited for longer than 2 months before meeting with a specialist.
Hazardous Delay. Canadian wait times exceed the clinically reasonable wait time for every medical specialty . For neurosurgery, for instance, although the clinically reasonable wait time is 5.8 weeks, the average Canadian wait time exceeds 31 weeks. Orthopedic surgery is even worse. The clinically reasonable wait time is 11 weeks; Canadian patients waiting on orthopedic surgery wait on average almost 37 weeks before they receive treatment. http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/Canadian_UK_HealthSystems.pdf
Rationed care affects all patients. In Canada and the United Kingdom patients have reduced access to health care providers, longer waits for examinations and fewer available treatment options. As it has in Canada and the United Kingdom, nationalized health care in the United States threatens to reduce the quality of care and therefore, the quality of life for all Americans.
Use the Action Pack http://actionpack.ncpa.org to access our Learning/Teaching Tools about health care so that you can educate your friends, family and neighbors.
For those that don't want to believe that the Tide in this country has shifted, I urge you to LISTEN...LISTEN...LISTEN, to what Michele Bachmann from MN explains on the House floor... If this video doesn't OUTRAGE you than you are part of the problem and NOW IS THE TIME TO WAKE UP!...
“Remember this is from the man that ran for President under the “Constitution Party” who was endorsed by Congressman Ron Paul of Texas”. Both men in their own rights are far better than what we have ever had in decades!
What sayeth ye, Mr Congressman, Mr. Senator? Wouldn't you agree that we need thousands more Pastors like Chuck Baldwin? I want to throw up when fellow Christians (and this includes some family as well) say "well things are different today than when the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution". It is not applicable today they say? You would think they are kidding but these sheep follow anything put before them as long as they don't have to make a decision or choice! What is that verse in Hebrews ..... same yesterday, today, and tomorrow?

It seems that every time someone such as myself attempts to encourage our Christian brothers and sisters to resist an unconstitutional or otherwise reprehensible government policy, we hear the retort, "What about Romans Chapter 13? We Christians must submit to government. Any government. Read your Bible, and leave me alone." Or words to that effect.
No doubt, some who use this argument are sincere. They are only repeating what they have heard their pastor and other religious leaders say. On the other hand, let's be honest enough to admit that some who use this argument are just plain lazy, apathetic, and indifferent. And Romans 13 is their escape from responsibility. I suspect this is the much larger group, by the way.
Nevertheless, for the benefit of those who are sincere (but obviously misinformed), let's briefly examine Romans Chapter 13. I quote Romans Chapter 13, verses 1 through 7, from the Authorized King James text:
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."
Do our Christian friends who use these verses to teach that we should not oppose America's political leaders really believe that civil magistrates have unlimited authority to do anything they want without opposition? I doubt whether they truly believe that.
For example, what if our President decided to resurrect the old monarchal custom of Jus Primae Noctis (Law of First Night)? That was the old medieval custom when the king claimed the right to sleep with a subject's bride on the first night of their marriage. Would our sincere Christian brethren sheepishly say, "Romans Chapter 13 says we must submit to the government"? I think not. And would any of us respect any man who would submit to such a law?
So, there are limits to authority. A father has authority in his home, but does this give him power to abuse his wife and children? Of course not. An employer has authority on the job, but does this give him power to control the private lives of his employees? No. A pastor has overseer authority in the church, but does this give him power to tell employers in his church how to run their businesses? Of course not. All human authority is limited in nature. No man has unlimited authority over the lives of other men. (Lordship and Sovereignty is the exclusive domain of Jesus Christ.)
By the same token, a civil magistrate has authority in civil matters, but his authority is limited and defined. Observe that Romans Chapter 13 clearly limits the authority of civil government by strictly defining its purpose: "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil . . . For he is the minister of God to thee for good . . . for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil."
Notice that civil government must not be a "terror to good works." It has no power or authority to terrorize good works or good people. God never gave it that authority. And any government that oversteps that divine boundary has no divine authority or protection. This is a basic principle of Natural Law (and all of America's legal documents--including the U.S. Constitution--are founded upon the God-ordained principles of Natural Law).
The apostle clearly states that civil government is a "minister of God to thee for good." It is a not a minister of God for evil. Civil magistrates have a divine duty to "execute wrath upon him that doeth evil." They have no authority to execute wrath upon him that doeth good. None. Zilch. Zero. And anyone who says they do is lying. So, even in the midst of telling Christians to submit to civil authority, Romans Chapter 13 limits the power and reach of civil authority.
Did Moses violate God's principle of submission to authority when he killed the Egyptian taskmaster in defense of his fellow Hebrew? Did Elijah violate God's principle of submission to authority when he openly challenged Ahab and Jezebel? Did David violate God's principle of submission to authority when he refused to surrender to Saul's troops? Did Daniel violate God's principle of submission to authority when he disobeyed the king's command to not pray audibly to God? Did the three Hebrew children violate God's principle of submission to authority when they refused to bow to the image of the state? Did John the Baptist violate God's principle of submission to authority when he publicly scolded King Herod for his infidelity? Did Simon Peter and the other Apostles violate God's principle of submission to authority when they refused to stop preaching on the streets of Jerusalem? Did Paul violate God's principle of submission to authority when he refused to obey those authorities who demanded that he abandon his missionary work? In fact, Paul spent almost as much time in jail as he did out of jail.
Remember that every apostle of Christ (except John) was killed by hostile civil authorities opposed to their endeavors. Christians throughout church history were imprisoned, tortured, or killed by civil authorities of all stripes for refusing to submit to their various laws and prohibitions. Did all of these Christian martyrs violate God's principle of submission to authority?
So, even the great prophets, apostles, and writers of the Bible (including the writer of Romans Chapter 13) understood that human authority--even civil authority--is limited.
Plus, Paul makes it clear that our submission to civil authority must be predicated on more than fear of governmental retaliation. Notice, he said, "Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake." Meaning, our obedience to civil authority is more than just "because they said so." It is also a matter of conscience. This means we must think and reason for ourselves regarding the justness and rightness of our government's laws. Obedience is not automatic or robotic. It is a result of both rational deliberation and moral approbation.
Therefore, there are times when civil authority may need to be resisted. Either governmental abuse of power or the violation of conscience (or both) could precipitate civil disobedience. Of course, how and when we decide to resist civil authority is an entirely separate issue. And I will reserve that discussion for another time.
Beyond that, we in the United States of America do not live under a monarchy. We have no king. There is no single governing official in this country. America's "supreme Law" does not rest with any man or any group of men. America's "supreme Law" does not rest with the President, the Congress, or even the Supreme Court. In America, the U.S. Constitution is the "supreme Law of the Land." Under our laws, every governing official publicly promises to submit to the Constitution of the United States. Do readers understand the significance of this distinction? I hope so.
This means that, in America, the "higher powers" are not the men who occupy elected office; they are the tenets and principles set forth in the U.S. Constitution. Under our laws and form of government, it is the duty of every citizen, including our elected officials, to obey the U.S. Constitution. Therefore, this is how Romans Chapter 13 reads to Americans:
"Let every soul be subject unto the [U.S. Constitution.] For there is no [Constitution] but of God: the [Constitution] that be [is] ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the [Constitution], resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For [the Constitution is] not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the [Constitution]? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For [the Constitution] is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for [the Constitution] beareth not the sword in vain: for [the Constitution] is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For this cause pay ye tribute also: for [the Constitution is] God's minister, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."
Dear Christian friend, the above is exactly the proper understanding of our responsibility to civil authority in these United States, according to the teaching of Romans Chapter 13.
Furthermore, Christians, above all people, should desire that their elected representatives submit to the Constitution, because it is constitutional government that has done more to protect Christian liberty than any other governing document ever devised by man. As I have noted before in this column, Biblical principles and Natural Law form the foundation of all three of America's founding documents: the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
As a result, Christians in America (for the most part) have not had to face the painful decision to "obey God rather than men" and defy their civil authorities.
The problem in America today is that we have allowed our political leaders to violate their oaths of office and to ignore--and blatantly disobey--the "supreme Law of the Land," the U.S. Constitution. Therefore, if we truly believe Romans Chapter 13, we will insist and demand that our civil magistrates submit to the U.S. Constitution.
Now, how many of us Christians are going to truly obey Romans Chapter 13?
