Welcome to the Bear Republic's Liberty Headquarters.  Our Liberty Movement will focus our political activism primarily on local politics. We will influence state and federal legislation through emails, calls and petitons; but, taking back our local governments is a neccessity for true representation.  This is how we can Save our Republic.

Local Grassroots Development

◊  Become a C4L Local Coordinator

Take ownership of the Campaign for Liberty and its place in politics by paying your annual dues.  Then, become a local coordinator.  This crucial step allows for you to receive grassroots training; which provides an opportunity to understand your local political landscape while teaching you how to win.  This is accessible through the dashboard of all local coordinators.

◊ Attend Meetings

Attend local political parties, school boards, water boards, city/town councils, etc... .  Place your meeting's information on your county calendar on this C4L website

◊  Dress for Success

It never hurts to be the best dressed in the room, but it does to be the worst dressed

◊  Leave wedge issues that will marginlize you at the door

Do not discuss social issues that have little or no relevance to governance or local issues

◊  Sit in the back and be quiet

Act professionally and respectful.  Get to know the room by keeping your mouth closed and listening to everyone else talk.  A wise friend once told me......when you open your mouth and speak, you are giving ammunition to your opponents

◊  Get the local C4L members to attend with you

Be successful in encouraging C4L members and friends to attend your meeting.  Begin by attending yourself and reporting back to C4L with a blog.  Blogs are read by alot of people and your enouraging words will persuade others to do the same.  Email and call to remind members about meeting time and place

◊  Get to know your local issues

Recognize the leaders in the room, and get to know them on a personl level through personal conversation.  Recognize local issues that you have in common, like taxes, property rights, civil liberties, water issues, etc..., and develop alliances with members

◊  Organize political activities around local issues

Be a leader and organize political activities around these common local issues .  Walk your local streets with informational flyers, about these local issues, have informational booths at farmer's markets.  Report back your succcess to the members of your meetings, write a blog and tell C4L about it.

(for political parties:   work for the party, find those issues and candidates that your can agree with and focus your political activities on them.  You will earn the respect and trust of the established local party leadership for your organizing.  Work harder then anyone)

◊  Influence your local governance

Be your local political activitists for the cause of Liberty.  When there are local issues, be known as the group that is willing to hit the streets and make a real diifference.  When ever there is an issue of importance, let the local establishment  know that there will be local grassroots organizing.  With a few local victories, you will have successfully influenced your local goverance.  With influencing local politics, you have established yourself as a local leader, your neighbors and friends will expect you to have information about local issues.  You will be expected to lead. You are now a political leader.  This is the key

(for political parties:  when you become the precinct walkers and political activitists of your local party, you will have real influence on party politics.  The local party can only mobilize on issues that are in alignment with you and Liberty)

◊  A true leader makes more leaders

Encourage others to do the same.  Find the other "go getters" and encourage them to organize in their local districts.  Compare notes with them, on what works and what doesn't work.  Learn from each others misstakes to build and forge stronger relationships

◊  Become a voting member in local governing bodies

2010 is right around the corner.  Every political party seat in every county in California in June 2010.  Between the June 2010 and November 2010 election, seats on every board and committee will be up for election.   Get our folks on the ballot.  Your local county registrars office has the rules and regulations for candidates and elections.  The first step is to find out what seats are up for election, and find out the requirements for filing papers to get on the ballot.

Stay tuned for more information about requirements for election ballots...

This is my first post here. I am on the Executive Committee of the California Libertarian Party and the Vice-Chair of the Monterey County Libertarians. I just got the official word today that my Ron Paul resolution passed! So I wanted to announce the good news that the California Libertarian Party is now officially endorsing HR 1207. The Press releases for this important endorsement will be in the papers next week. I realize that there are now 245 co-sponsors.

Motion to Endorse Ron Paul's H.R. 1207 Bill by the California LP
Currently there are 237 Congressman and Congresswoman that have co-sponsored this bill that calls for a full audit of the Federal Reserve Bank so we can see what is done with our tax dollars.
I propose the California State Libertarian Party officially endorse this bill, release a press statement and encourage all of it's members to write their representatives and urge them to co-sponsor it right away.
If 290 congress members would sign on to this bill it would be exempt from an Executive Veto and would then likely pass. I feel we should ad our muscle to this bill right away and help our single Libertarian Party member in Congress.

THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE INTENDS TO VOTE TODAY TO RAISE YOUR TAXES BY BILLIONS OF DOLLARS! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND FLIES IN THE FACE OF CLEARLY EXPRESSED ELECTORAL OPINION.

THE POLITICIANS HEARD YOU LOUD AND CLEAR WHEN YOU DEFEATED MASSIVE TAX HIKES IN LAST MONTH'S SPECIAL ELECTION...NOW THE MAJORITY OF POLITICIANS IN SACRAMENTO ARE RESPONDING TO YOU BY TELLING YOU THAT YOU SHOULD SHUT UP AND GO ALONG LIKE THE SHEEP THEY THINK YOU ARE. THEY THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THAN YOU AND THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO INCREASE YOUR TAXES REGARDLESS OF YOUR CLEARLY EXPRESSED OPPOSITION.

IT'S HIGH TIME THE POLITICIANS IN CALIFORNIA UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY ARE "ELECTED" OFFICIALS AND THAT NO ONE HAS CROWNED THEM OUR RULERS.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO COME DOWN TO THE CAPITOL TODAY OR TO CALL THE CAPITOL TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO ARE FIGHTING AGAINST THESE TAXES AND TO LET THOSE WHO VOTE FOR SUCH TAXES KNOW THAT WE INTEND TO END THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS AT THE BALLOT BOX.

_________________________________________________________

We have been informed by our contact with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association that California politicians will vote TODAY (WEDNESDAY) on BILLIONS IN TAX HIKES!

Funded by unions and special interests who are crushing the state with unbearable financial burdens, the Capitol has been deluged with calls and visits from people receiving various types of taxpayer funded benefits ... they are telling the politicians to RAISE YOUR TAXES!

But just last month, WE THE PEOPLE crushed the dishonest politicians' Prop. 1A tax hikes by nearly 2 to 1! Haven't they gotten the message? Have they forgotten that they are there to REPRESENT us and not to rule over us?

We are calling on you to go to the Capitol tomorrow, go into the politician's offices and tell them or their staffs that you are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!

Specifically, these tax hikes along with some budget gimmicks are on the table:

$2 BILLION IN OIL TAXES. With gas prices already approaching $3 a gallon, this will hurt anyone who drives

$1.50 A PACK CIGARETTE TAX INCREASE. This scheme would try to make smokers pay for the politician's mistakes. In reality, people will find ways around it or stop smoking. When the revenue does not materialize, then the pressure will be on to raise other taxes.

$15 CAR TAX HIKE. Car tax increases got Gray Davis recalled and were a part of the reason Prop. 1A was rejected. What part of no don't they understand?

AND MANY OTHERS....

We would encourage you to go earlier in the day, so that you can make yourself heard before the vote. Our friends at the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association have told us you are welcome to stop in at their office to pick up lapel stickers that you can wear demanding an end to tax increases and petitions you can sign and deliver to the politicians.

HJTA's offices are located two blocks north of the Capitol at
921 11th Street, Suite 1201
Sacramento, CA 95814

I know many of us work and can't make it to the Capitol physically, but you can pick up the phone and make some calls. Your calls do count. You can find contact information for all Legislator's offices here: http://www.assembly.ca.gov/acs/acsframeset7text.htm

Please forward this message on to everyone you know. Let's show the politicians that WE ARE THE SILENT MAJORITY NO MORE!

Yesterday, June 20th 2009 I approached Congressman Mike Thompson about HR 1207 and if he would co-sponsor the bill. Representative Mike Thompson had a pasta dinner last night at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. The event was a fundraiser to help get Thompson re-elected and throw support towards Obama's new Socialistic, government heath care proposal.

The main talking points at the event from the Congressman was about Heathcare and how the children are the future that are going to inherit. What a cop-out answer...you see they say it's for the children, but that's the lie that is spewed amongst our representatives to enforce that they are humanitarians and caring loving individuals. The underlying backdoor reason for legislation in the name of "the children" is really about control. I common manipulative move most representatives use.

Besides what was discussed, later in the event I approached Rep. Thompson about The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 and if he would co-sponsor the bill. At first he stated that he had as of yet not reviewed the Bill and claimed that he had never heard of it. I then engaged in trying to give him the Bill, the US code which would be amended and the list of co-sponsors. He denied the documents and said to give them to his Sonoma County rep and then he would consider it(He was busy at a pasta dinner and I guess he didn't want to hold on to it).

I further elaborated that there was currently 237 co-sponsors, 67 which are Democrats, and neighbor Congressman Lyn Woolsey, George Miller, and Rep. McClintock have co-sponsored it. I also discussed how Senator Bernie Sanders was recently denied transparency from Federal Reserve Chairman when questioned in a committee hearing about where the TARP funds exactly went and what banks were lifted up. Mr. Thompson commented and said "Oh yeah, we should audit them" when I re-enforced that he should co-sponsor. I was very surprised to here this from him and will hold him to that statement.

After speaking with him, I was directed to this lovely woman who was engaged in helping me with my needs. I gave he the HR 1207 documents and left her my information. She said that this bill would go to the Congressman's D.C staff and reviewed over with Mr. Thompson before he can make a decision to co-sponsor or not. I thanked her and went on my way.

If you live the 1st Congressional District of California, Rep. Thompson is making a couple of appearances. Here is his website for more info

details.http://www.mikethompsonforcongress.com/event

His next event is another Pasta Dinner fundraiser in Mendocino County on Saturday, July 11th.

So That is my experience and first ever try at citizen journalism. I hope those of you who have not gotten your congressman to co-sponsor the bill, go out there and pressure your congressman. Go to their events, call them up, e-mail them, or best yet Fax them. The fax gets right and their face and they have to look at it. They can't delete a fax!

The Revolution Continues!

- Brennan Westerson

Sonoma County C4L Coordinator and RLCCA member

Hostile Takeover At L.A. County Republican Party Declared Illegal - Rightful Chairman Stands Up
**Check the comments near the bottom**
RPLAC: New Day...New Leadership

By Allen Wilson

After a long meeting at the Republican Party of Los Angeles County (RPLAC) Central Committee held in Van Nuys, the seriousness of the Executive Board leadership prompted the body to make swift changes.

Mike Osborn, Chairman of the Ventura County Republican Party and Central Coast Vice Chairman of the California Republican Party, served as Temporary Chair at the request of the RPLAC Central Committee to neturalize the situation.

Steve Baric, Chairman of the California Republican Lawyer's Association and Secretary of the California Republican Party, served as Temporary Parliamentarian.

After much lengthy discussion among the body and votes were taken, the RPLAC installed new members of the Executive Board:

Jane Barnett - Chairman

Gary Aminoff - 1st Vice Chairman

John Cozza - 2nd Vice Chairman

Alex Burrola - Secretary

Davina Keiser - Assistant Secretary

Leonard Lanzi - Treasurer

Gwen Patrick - Assistant Treasurer

Newly installed RPLAC Chairman Jane Barnett spoke by thanking the members and that she is willing to forge ahead, because there is work needs to be done from the ground up for the largest county party in the state of California and the nation.

Mrs. Barnett stated that, "We need to get back to the basics of who we are as a party:  Reagan, conservative, basic government, limited government."

The RPLAC membership gave standing applause to outgoing RPLAC Chairman Glen Forsch for his dedication to the Republican party.
