California Campaign for Liberty

Bay Area Freedom Conference

◊  Become a C4L Local Coordinator

Take ownership of the Campaign for Liberty and its place in politics by paying your annual dues.  Then, become a local coordinator.  This crucial step allows for you to receive grassroots training; which provides an opportunity to understand your local political landscape while teaching you how to win.  This is accessible through the dashboard of all local coordinators.

◊ Attend Meetings

Attend local political parties, school boards, water boards, city/town councils, etc... .  Place your meeting's information on your county calendar on this C4L website

◊  Dress for Success

It never hurts to be the best dressed in the room, but it does to be the worst dressed

◊  Leave wedge issues that will marginlize you at the door

Do not discuss social issues that have little or no relevance to governance or local issues

◊  Sit in the back and be quiet

Act professionally and respectful.  Get to know the room by keeping your mouth closed and listening to everyone else talk.  A wise friend once told me......when you open your mouth and speak, you are giving ammunition to your opponents

◊  Get the local C4L members to attend with you

Be successful in encouraging C4L members and friends to attend your meeting.  Begin by attending yourself and reporting back to C4L with a blog.  Blogs are read by alot of people and your enouraging words will persuade others to do the same.  Email and call to remind members about meeting time and place

◊  Get to know your local issues

Recognize the leaders in the room, and get to know them on a personl level through personal conversation.  Recognize local issues that you have in common, like taxes, property rights, civil liberties, water issues, etc..., and develop alliances with members

◊  Organize political activities around local issues

Be a leader and organize political activities around these common local issues .  Walk your local streets with informational flyers, about these local issues, have informational booths at farmer's markets.  Report back your succcess to the members of your meetings, write a blog and tell C4L about it.

(for political parties:   work for the party, find those issues and candidates that your can agree with and focus your political activities on them.  You will earn the respect and trust of the established local party leadership for your organizing.  Work harder then anyone)

◊  Influence your local governance

Be your local political activitists for the cause of Liberty.  When there are local issues, be known as the group that is willing to hit the streets and make a real diifference.  When ever there is an issue of importance, let the local establishment  know that there will be local grassroots organizing.  With a few local victories, you will have successfully influenced your local goverance.  With influencing local politics, you have established yourself as a local leader, your neighbors and friends will expect you to have information about local issues.  You will be expected to lead. You are now a political leader.  This is the key

(for political parties:  when you become the precinct walkers and political activitists of your local party, you will have real influence on party politics.  The local party can only mobilize on issues that are in alignment with you and Liberty)

◊  A true leader makes more leaders

Encourage others to do the same.  Find the other "go getters" and encourage them to organize in their local districts.  Compare notes with them, on what works and what doesn't work.  Learn from each others misstakes to build and forge stronger relationships

◊  Become a voting member in local governing bodies

2010 is right around the corner.  Every political party seat in every county in California in June 2010.  Between the June 2010 and November 2010 election, seats on every board and committee will be up for election.   Get our folks on the ballot.  Your local county registrars office has the rules and regulations for candidates and elections.  The first step is to find out what seats are up for election, and find out the requirements for filing papers to get on the ballot.

Stay tuned for more information about requirements for election ballots...

C4LCA members up and down the Golden State came to rainy Sunnyvale to hear and meet gubernatorial candidate Chelene Nightingale and congressional candidate John Dennis and get some grass roots training. Both candidates were awesome they both stayed to the very end meeting and greeting, but what impressed me the most was that both Chelene and John answering any and all questions that was given to them by C4L members and guests.

That night after the C4LCA conference Republican C4L members drove to Santa Clara to support John Dennis and tested the water with open carry at the California GOP Convention in Santa Clara.

John Dennis had a fantastic Saturday rally inside of the main entrance of the Hyatt with supporters chanting loudly "2010 the year Pelosi ENDS!" And that evening John stopped by the Republican Liberty Caucus of California's hospitality suite, spoke and met with many of his supporters.

C4L members Walter, Dave and I open carried at the convention Friday night and I was able to open carry Friday night and most of Saturday. Walter and Dave opened carried all night, but on their way out of the hotel they were approached by Hyatt hotel security staff and were asked to remove their legal unloaded holstered sidearm because the Hyatt had a no-fire arm policy that they refused to show and besides they were told "some of their guests felt uncomfortable." Since I wasn't asked to leave that Friday I came back the next day and open carried. I was spotted in the late evening and was asked to remove my legal unloaded holstered sidearm.

Never stay at any Hyatt again.

Before you open carry check out your local laws on open carry

Funny, being pro 2nd Amendment is a GOP platform, one would think they would find pro 2nd Amendment venues for their conventions and allow open carry.

However, to help you need to move fast because the filing deadline is March 12th after that you have to wait another two years.  Please contact your local, County or State Coordinators in your area or the register/recorders office for help in filing for the central committee.

Those in Los Angeles County It has occurred to me though that you might appreciate some assistance on getting your filing papers to the Norwalk office, or picking up your petitions

SUMMARY OF WORKSHOPS of Los Angeles County

1) Qualification: Candidates a) need to have been a Republican for the past year, (b)or newly registered for the first time, or c) registered as a Republican for 3 months if previously registered as "decline to state"  if you came from another party the one year waiting period apply only to you.

2) Your Assembly District:  Central Committee Offices go by Assembly District.    It's easy to verify   at LAVote.net    Use this link:
Click here: District Look Up by Address
put in your house number and street, and all your districts should come up.

3) Seats Open: There are seven seats on the Central Committee for each Assembly District.  They are available every two years and are filled in the June Primary.   If there are 7 or fewer candidates running for the seats, all you need is 20 valid signatures on your petition, and you're in.  If there are more than 7 candidates running for the seats, your names will all be printed on the ballot and the seven candidates with the highest number of votes fill the seats. It is a volunteer office and there is no cost to file.

4 Term of Office: The term begins at the time of the Reorganization Meeting, which is held in December, and runs 2 years.  At the Reorganization Meeting, the Officers for each Assembly District, for the County Executive Board and for the Executive Committee are elected, plus some others.

5. Meetings:  Each Assembly District Committee meets typically once a month.  The Entire County Committee meets every 3 months.  The Executive Committee meets once a month.  The Executive meets as needed.

6). Purposes of Republican Central Committee:  To recruit and support good constitutional candidates for Local State and Federal offices.  To raise funds for this and for the operations of the County and Assembly District Committees.  To foster a local Republican Presence; to educate and keep in touch with voters. To register new Republican Voters.  To assist in getting out the vote during elections.

7) Goals: When we are functioning properly, we have the potential to win more elections for Republicans.  What we do here in L.A. County affects the Nation.  Our County Party has not been functioning the way it should be.  We of the Executive Board are here to do something about it, with the help of other dedicated Republican volunteers.

 8) Filing Period to run for office:  Filing Period began Feb. 16 and closes March 12.

 9) How to File: You may initiate the filing process online, and your papers will be prepared for pickup a day or so later. Filing online will save waiting time for you. The link is:

https://lavote.net/SECURED/CANREG/CandidateRegForm.cfm?appform=pcm&&ELECTION_
ID=654

Print it out and keep your reference number handy.

10)Designating an Agent:
You can designate someone else to pick up your papers for you (and also return your completed petition).  Anyone can do that.    You would just have to give them your reference number and authorize online at

https://lavote.net/SECURED/CANREG/PDF/AUTHORIZATION_PICKUP_654.pdf

 11) Petition: You will receive a couple of petitions very similar to an initiative petition with spaces for 30 signatures.  We recommend making a few extra copies before getting signatures.

12)Map and Voter List: While you (they) are at the Registrar-Recorder's Office, an Assembly District map and voter list can be ordered on the 2nd floor.  (I can also provide you a Republican voter list for your neighborhood.)

13) Who can sign: Any Republican registered to vote in your Assembly District can sign your petition. You need at least 20 valid signatures.  It is recommended that you get at least 40.

14) Others can help you: as long as they live in the same District. Have them circulate your petition and you can do the same for them, if they are also running. It makes it easier for all. One reason more copies are helpful.  We can put you in touch with others in your district who may be running.

 15)  Finding Signers: Look thru your church or club directory and contact your friends who live there and who are also Republicans.  Use map to be sure they live in your Assembly  District.  You can also put in their address at the first link above

 16) Use voter list for your precinct to find more Republicans who live there.  Walk in your neighborhood in a nice day and ask them to sign your petition.  Have a couple of reasons to tell them why you're running.

 17) Filling out petition: Make sure voters print name and address legibly & exactly as registered.  Ask them to stay within the box, and not write over other signers' information.

 18) The Poorly Sighted: For persons who can't see well, you can fill out their information, then show them where to sign.  You may cover the writing above and below when they sign so it doesn't go over and disqualify other signatures.

 19) Turning in your Petition: When you get about 30 -40 signers, turn in your petition at least few days before the deadline. It may take a couple of days for the Registrar to check your petition.  They will let you know if you need more signatures, so you will have time to get more.

20) Getting elected when there are more than 7 candidates.   We will have more workshops on how to do this, after the filing period closes.

Thanks again for your interest in running for the office of Republican Central Committee Member.  I think you will find the process rewarding and fun.

For questions, feel free to write or call Roger Eshleman at: 818-988-9313

SICK OF THE CORRUPTION?

LOVE THE CONSTITUTION?

CONSERVATIVE? Registered as a Republican in L.A.?

THEN BECOME THE GOVERNMENT YOU WANT!

         Greetings Fellow Patriot,

You are receiving this email because you actively supported Ron Paul's Presidential bid in 2008. We are asking that you try and become a Central Committee of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County in 2010.   The third in a series
of three unique workshops is being held in Van Nuys on February 11th.  The process is free and is a simple as collecting signatures.

Through a twist of fate,  Dr. Ron Paul's 2008 Los Angeles Campaign Coordinator Robert Vaughn is now the Chairman of RPLAC.  They are recruiting new members actively.   There is no litmus test.   In 2008 I was elected to Central Committee after working at the Ron Paul Grassroots Center in L.A.. A group of us banded together to depose a corrupt chairman of RPLAC. We were successful, but there was blow-back...

So what is a Central Committee?

All California counties are broken up into districts. For Example, I am in the 47Th Assembly District (West/Central LA) which comprises about 700,000 people. Counties are also broken up into State Senatorial Districts and US Congressional Districts. The California Legislature, like the US Congress, has both State Senators and Assembly Members. Sadly, many people don't even know who represents them locally or how its all divided up.

Each district has 7 Central Committee Members, though some may only have a few due to the neighborhood. These members were the ballot in the even years and have a term of 2 years. Central Committee members are officially elected "super activists" for their party. Once elected they are the eyes and ears of the party at the grassroots level. Remember, L.A. County has more Republicans and constituents than many States do. Its a important chunk of our Republic.

Central Committees meet once a month locally and also meet collectively at a full county meeting once a month. It is at these monthly meetings where they vote and have a say in who the party endorses and have an active say in just about everything the Party does.

It is your duty as a Committee member to recruit and educate people for your Party. And I personally believe that it is your duty to keep your leadership honest and to support and get candidates of high caliber elected. The process should be fair and should be from the bottom-up. Rubber-stampers not wanted.

That's where you come in!       We need your help!

Once you get involved with Central Committee you will learn the ground level of politics. You will meet candidates, and you may even become a candidate for Assembly, State Senate, City Council, School Board, Water Board, or whatever. The secret is, only a hand full of people ever get involved. If you want real change, then become the change literally. Don't just worry about who's going to become the next President, worry about who represents your neighborhood and city.

Its very simple to get started. On Febuary 11 th there is meeting in Van Nuys.

Date:        Thursday, February 11, 2010 Time:        7:00 to 9:30 p.m.  Registration at 6:30 p.m. Location:  Van Nuys State Office Building Auditorium,
Address:  6150 Van Nuys Blvd., at Calvert, Van Nuys, 91401

Just show up and you will meet other Committee members and past office candidates and they will tell you how to do it. It basically requires you to get signatures to get on the ballot.

If you want more information, then please reply to this email and I will forward your email address to the Secretary of the party and they will keep you in touch. If you have any questions ask me. Please Please Please pass this message to your friends and to at least one list of like minded activists.

Its not the mainstream media, or think-tanks, or the CFR, or big money, that should run things but, WE THE PEOPLE.

 Thank you & God Bless,

Donald Wood.

Member, 47th Assembly District,
Chairman, 36th US Congressional District.

Well we all know how bad Washington D.C is. But do we know how bad Sacramento is?  The Assembly and the State Senate have to see whats going on in Washington. I think they are in a glass bubble!!

Last week the State Senate amended a bill. Do any of you know? Do you know who wrote the bill?  A committee voted and passed it. The person who wrote the bill is from bay area.

OK OK it's State Senator Mark Leno (D) of SF. Ok do you know the bill number? Yes No alright I will tell you all!  SB 810 Maybe some of you know this bill and some don't.

Folks this is what you call Single-Payer Healthcare Coverage!!  Yes Obamacare for California!! It has a nice ring to it!

There are so many cool things in this bill! And I will tell all of you about it.. I know you are all dying to hear about it.

First we get a Healthcare Commissioner.. Ok what does he do. He has to determine goals, standards, guidelines, and priorities for the healthcare system, also oversee about 8 Healthcare Boards.. Just think how many new state workers he has to hire? You see folks I only read about maybe 33% of the bill.. It's a big bill.. Let me tell you some of the health boards

a) The Healthcare Policy Board

b) The Office of Patient Advacacy

c) The Office of Health Planning

d) The Office of Healthcare Quaitity

e) The Healthcare Fund

f) The Public Advisory Committee

g) The Payments Board ( Can't do without that Board!)

h) Partnerships for Health.

So there you go 8 boards.. But the board that caught my eye is The Public Avdisory Committee. The board will have 22 members from Doctors, R/N to a Dentist.. Some will be appointed by the Assembly Speaker, State Senate, and the Governor. Ok but there is a special person who also has to be on this board too! What can that person be? Do you know?  Ok I will tell you all! They want a UNION MEMBER to be on the board also.. mmmm smells like union that wear the purple T- Shirts SEIU Well I don't know if they are on that board or not. Alright this bill is going to make 150,000 new healthcare jobs and make money for the state!!!  Who are they kidding.. Going to cost 200 billion to start up or more!!

Now do you see how bad Sacramento is.. they are just as bad as D.C!
