The Erie County Legislature's election results could not have been better.  Actually, they could have been had the Dems found themselves in the minority on Wednesday, but since they didn't, it still went pretty well.  Knocking out two incumbents and coming within a stone's throw of two other seats, the conservatives of this area should be both proud and empowered.  Good work to everyone out there whose hand played a direct role in the Republican uprising whether that meant you went out canvassing, phone banking, contributed any money or even voted.  Keep upo the good work!!!

Ps I have recently been hired to cover politics for examiner.com as the Buffalo Republican Examiner.  If you guys have any ideas for articles or topics you would like to see be covered, send them my way.

Reading the Buffalo News today I came across and article in the City and Region section that some of you might be interested in.  Rus Thompson, a strong supported of the tea parties a month and advocate for more responsive government has started a new party called Tea New York.

Some goals of the party seem to include removing carreer politicans from office, making it easier for newcomers and independents to run and dividing the state of New York into two states, upstate and down.

Mr Thompson has also called out Sen Stachowski and is pursuing him to resign with intensity because according to the news they consider him, "A rubber stamp for Democratic Party leaders in Albany."

To get involved or if you would like more information check out www.teanewyork.com

Governor Paterson throwing the gay marriage out there for all to see and talk about with force is laughable.  In fact, there is a family guy episode on the subject which aired a few years ago.

It is the episdoe where Mayor West builds a solid gold statue of Dig 'em.  Then when everyone gets upset he decides to outlaw gay marriage as a way to get everyone talking about something other than his previous political decision.

Sounds a little familiar doesn't it?

How long ago was it that Paterson/Silver/Smith's disastorous budget was pushed through the legislature.  Not very.

I'm not arguing the merits of gay marriage here, all I am saying is that instead of talking about gay marriage in New York State, I hope people realize that this is nothing more than a diversion by an increasingly unpopular governor to get his increasingly upset electorate to talk about something, when put into context of all the problems facing the state, is really inconsequential.

I came across the same story twice tonight, once on Drudge and the other on Politico.  The story states that the New York Post has reported that Governor Paterson has already made up his mind that Caroline Kennedy is his pick.

The sources of the story were supposedly the "dissapointed contenders" and some other unamed sources who are supposedly close to Paterson.  However, one scenario that was passed onto the post was I believe from rep. carolyn Maloney who said that Paterson has cut a deal with Kennedy confidant Mayor Bloomberg which stipulates that if he picks Kennedy, he will in return get campaign money and help for his election bid which right now is looking increasingly doomed.

After reading this the only thing i could think of, "have we really forgotten about the blagojevich scandal already?"  And also, "Did no one else learn  a lesson from it?"

The incompetence of Governor David Paterson is increasingly overwhelming.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/01/07/porn-industry-seeks-federal-bail
out/

That link will take you to a legitimate story covering Larry Flynt and the CEO of Girls Gone Wild asking congress and Paulson for a $5 billion bailout to help the adult film industry.

I don't even know what to say except that I am so glad the government decided to open this can of worms for all to see.

In the article the guy's even admit the industry is in no way strugling financially, however, their excuse is that americans are too depressed to have sex and the industry is more or less needed as a service for the health of the American people.

Normally I would have found something like this comical and laughed it off, but in all honesty this is scary.

I can picture a member of congress (california most likely) standing on the floor rapping off an argument for this bailout and actually getting some people on board.  Obviously, well actually with the make up of congress now, maybe not so obvious, this will probably never pass however the fact that it is out there with an argument backing it up that is sure to win over a few people I feel signifies that we are only at the tip of the iceberg for what is to unravel with these bailouts.

Before this article, one could joke, first the banks, then the autos, where do we stop?  Porn? ha ha ha

Well, maybe not.
