Today is the day set aside to honor our Veterans. A lot of us will have visions of battle scenes from far to many wars. We will remember Pearl Harbor, Normandy Beach, the delta regions of Viet Nam, the brutal winters of Korea, the roadside bombs of Iraq. Not only should we honor these Patiots of the past, but those who are giving of themselves at this very moment.
These Patriots took an Oath to defend our nation by defending the Constitution.
On the other hand, do not our elected federal officials make the same vow? Are we to allow these employees of ours to scorn, manipulate, and ignore that same Constitution? I don't think the approval rating coming from those men and boys laying in rest at Normandy would be very high for Mr Obama, Ms Palosi, and the rest of their gang. I'm afraid that the opinion of those fallen heros would very very high concerning the American public not only allowing this happen, but encouraging this attitude with their ballots.

rightsman Las Vegas,, NV | I am a veteran of a foreign war. The operative word being 'foreign'. A war in which we had no business being.
But I fear that soon we will have veterans of an American war. A war fought on our soil. A war fought against our neighbors.
Let us do all that we can NOW to prevent such an occurrence.
Contact every member of your State Legislature and demand that laws are enacted to prevent the Federal Government from implementing any health care run by the Feds.
It worked with the Real ID act. A peaceful revolution can be brought about.
Thank you,
Robert Walker |

Sen Dodd is introducing legislation to create yet another agency to deal with the economy. This one will control consumer credit and banking. He does hint at minimizing, if not eleminating the Fed. This last possibility does offer a hint of good thinking. What he and so many other don't realize, or are afraid to admit, is the government actions that caused the meltdown to begin with.
Abandoning the gold standard and the creation of the fed is the source of the problem. When the federal programs of fannie mae and freddie mac were enacted the fuse was lite. When we put people into a mortgage they can't afford and they have a history of not being responsible just what do you expect the outcome to be? To allow for that you simply have the taxpayers co-sign those notes.
Because that worked so well, Mr. Obama and his followers in congress passed the cash for clunkers program. This in principle is very similar to the home purchase scam. Granted, they were both vote getters for the democrats, but it has devastated our nation in the process.
I personally have had enough of this. I plan on doing something about it, the question is, DO YOU?

Robyn Hamlin Saint Louis, MO | If each C4L member would commit to opening the eyes of just one person each day for a week we could make tremendous progress. I try to open eyes every time I leave the house, whether it be in a grocery store, gas station, home improvement store, the car wash, anywhere there is another person to talk with. |

Well, it happened! The question each one of us needs to ask is, "what now"? Did we lose a battle? Have we lost the war?
We begin by putting it all in perspective. The measure passed by only 5 votes! This is hardly a "mandate"! Was it along party lines, of course. However, 39 reps defected from the democratic program while only 1 defected from the republican camp. Do you think the "town Meetings" played a role? Do you think the efforts of C4L played a role? I say it did!!
So now we brush off the dust and move on to the challange in the Senate. It is time to redouble our efforts. Perhaps we should start by dumping our memberships in AARP, calling our Senators everyday, and each of us recruiting one new member to C4L. We must strenghten our grassroots level activities.
Perhaps we need to reserect the battlecry, " Now is the time........"

I have been searching for others of like mind. Those of us that have joined this movement have a common thread in that we realize the precarious state of OUR country. We have let this happen because we didn't get involved. Now is the time to stand up and be identified. How about filling out some profile information for starters. Who are we, where do we live, what is our sphere of influence, and most of all what are our ideas. Now is the time to storm the beaches and take OUR country back!!
