Kelly Edinger grew up in the footprints of our nation's Founding Fathers.   Her school years were punctuated by trips to local destinations of national importance. Knowledge of the thought and care and, above all, the sacrifice that went into the formation of our republic and its government developed into a deep patriotism and desire to experience to the fullest all that our rights guarantee.

Kelly moved to the West Coast approximately ten years ago and settled in Reno, Nevada.  She was quite heavily involved in the activities of both Reno-area Ron Paul Meetups, eventually taking over as organizer of one of the groups.  Kelly organized the decorating committee for the Ron Paul campaign donors' luncheon and rally at UNR.  She volunteered in the northern Nevada Ron Paul call center and participated as a delegate in the Washoe County and Nevada state Republican conventions.  Kelly and her longtime boyfriend, Eric, set up the SMS broadcast system used by Ron Paul supporters at the state convention. (Kelly firmly believes that technology and organization will guarantee success.)

She has remained involved with the Republican Party.  She is a member of the county central committee and is a volunteer in the county Information Technology and PR committees.  She believes that "all politics is local" and that real change comes from the grassroots.  She plans to continue to encourage all Liberty-minded individuals to get involved with their local political parties - specifically in the central committees and their by-laws and rules sub-committees.   Kelly believes that Nevada is an integral part of a Liberty strategy, and looks forward to building upon the successes of the 2008 campaign.

H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency bill which was proposed by Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), has been co-sponsored by 179 members of the House - including two of the three Representatives of Nevada. The bill requires 218 co-sponsors in order to immediately move from committee to a vote on the floor.  Don't let this bill die in committee!

On Tuesday, May 26, contact Representative Dina Titus, of Nevada's 3rd district, and tell her Nevada demands that the Federal Reserve be audited!

Here's how to contact Representative Titus:

Washington, D.C. Address
319 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
Phone: 202-225-3252
Fax: 202-225-2185
District Address
8215 South Eastern Avenue, Suite 205
Las Vegas, NV 89123
Phone: 702-387-4941
Fax: 702-837-0728
  • Please remember to be polite and brief - especially if you are contacting the office by phone.
  • If you live in Rep Titus' district, be sure to say so, since constituent opinions are valued much more heavily.  (That said, all Nevadans should call!)
  • Mention the bill's name and number and that it is in the House Committee on Financial Services.
Sample phone script:
"I am calling to request that Rep Titus sign on as a co-sponsor of HR 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency bill, which is in the House Financial Services committee.  As a resident of Nevada (or District 3), I believe the Federal Reserve should be accountable to the citizens of our nation.  We demand an audit!"

kedinger,
We here in Clark County are taking some action this weekend to further the cause of HR1207. There was a report that HR 1207 has 179 co-sponsors and we need only a total if 218 to bring the bill to the floor. We'll get there, if we keep the pressure on.
I think that it is time to get behind the companion bill in the Senate, I believe it is S 604.
Harry Reid will be a tough sell.
I think that if we started a campaign now to get him to support S 604 we could get his attention. He is up for reelection in 2010.
It will necessarily be a sustained effort.
I suggest that we start our campaign very soon. And instead of a blast of emails in one day it should be emails and telephone calls over a longer period of time.
We could do it in alphabetical order. Those with last names starting with an a on the first day, the b's the second, and so on. When we get to the end of the alphabet, we could start over. It might work.
Thank you,
Robert Walker

rightsman,

If you're referring to the petitions at the gun show, Tiffany has kept me informed. I agree we need to work on the companion bill, but I'd like to focus on getting Titus onboard for the next few days.

Any further ideas on how to make the S 604 drive engaging would absolutely be welcomed!

Congress and the Obama Administration are pushing for health care reform that will move the US health care system closer to that of Canada or the UK. You can help stop a government takeover of health care from happening. Send a message to the White House and Congress by signing the “Free Our Health Care Now” petition. Go to www.freeourhealthcarenow.com and sign the petition today!

I hope that you are as proud as I am of the work that we did for Ron Paul's campaign.  In about one year and three months, we had a profound effect on not just Washoe County, but the state, the West, and the country.  People nationwide talked about the things we were able to accomplish!   If we managed that in a year, imagine what we can do with three and a half!  We have the opportunity and the urgent responsibility to ensure that we can affect the next presidential election.

As you may know, part of our success on the local level was due entirely to having a party chairman who believes in the rule of law.  We were able to become chairmen in our precinct caucuses and voting members of the central committee because we and they, the existing power structure, followed the rules.  We've all heard stories of other counties, and Clark comes to mind, where liberty-minded people were shut out by blatant abuses of power and threats of force.

The moneyed powers-that-be have come to realize how important Washoe County is in setting the tone.  They have come to realize how dangerous a well-organized group of individuals united on principles can be.  They are scared, folks - scared of us.

They are so scared, they're throwing a lot of weight into campaigning for the chairmanship of the Washoe County Republican Central Committee.  Heidi Smith is retiring due to health concerns.  No one had any idea how important this position is until last week's town hall meeting.   Senator Maurice Washington attended, ostensibly to answer questions directed to him as a state senator.  Instead, Senator Washington spent 45 minutes giving what amounted to a campaign speech for the county chair.  (If anyone is interested, I can give a much more detailed account of that town hall meeting in another post.)

We know that the political machine can spend a lot of time and money ensuring that the folks who will vote their way show up.  All that we have is ourselves, but I have confidence that we are more than enough to keep the same old abusive and unethical powers-that-be from reclaiming our county!  If we lose our ability to act in Washoe County, we lose the state for 10 or 20 years to come!

It is imperative that you attend the next Washoe County Republican Central Committee meeting on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 6:30 pm at Reno High School on Booth Street.

If you are unsure whether you are a voting member, please contact the Washoe County Republican HQ at 827-1900 between 11:30 am and 5:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday.

If you are not a voting member, please come and declare your desire to join the central committee.  (If we lose the day on April 23, we might have other, harder options to get back to where we are now.  At the very least, we could have the two-thirds majority required to keep really bad things from happening...)

If you know of someone who is a central committee member and they do not plan on attending, please convince them to come or register their proxy with you.

We can do great things!  We simply must continue to work together.  I can't wait to see you on the 23rd!

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

I am RSVP'd. Questions: I am not registered Republican anymore, will I be able to even help(vote)? I am not in the position to run for any office, and if I can vote, who are our people? Would you not bring a 4 year old? :-)

Thanks for the help.

Tonight the Washoe County Republican Central Committee voted Michelle Beard as chairman!   This means that we can expect fair and just and honest treatment at the county level for the next two years.  Michelle had 12 more votes than her nearest opponent, but won by 5 votes because the rules state the winner is determined by majority of ballots cast (50% +1).
This is brings home the message that every vote counts!
(I know of at least 17 Liberty-minded people on the WCRCC.  I saw 3 more at the meeting tonight declare their desire to join the central committee.  Most of the decisions made by that body are decided by less than 20 votes.)
If you wonder why this is so important, let me remind you that all politics is local.  If we lose the ability to act within the local parties, we have no ability to change anything at the state or national level!  All of the activities we take today will give us a solid foundation from which to work for 2010 and 2012!
This message is not only for any of you interested in being involved with the Republican Party.  Join any political party or get involved in non-partisan groups or offices.  Eternal vigilance is the price of our Liberty!
Cheers,
Kelly
