On Monday, May 18 at its monthly meeting, the Prince William County Republican Committee overwhelmingly passed the following resolution in support of HR 1207. The resolution was originally introduced in April but was tabled until last night for further discussion.
Prince William County Republican Committee Resolution of SUPPORT for HR 1207 - The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009
Whereas, we, as Members of the Prince William County Republican Committee applaud transparency and accountability in government and reject government secrecy involving monetary policy that impacts the entire economy; and
Whereas, serious discussions of proposals to oversee and audit the Federal Reserve are long overdue; and
Whereas, the Federal Reserve can enter into agreements with foreign governments and foreign central banks and the United States Congress is prohibited from overseeing these agreements; and
Whereas, we, as Members of Prince William County Republican Committee, believe agreements made by the Federal Reserve with foreign powers and foreign banking institutions should be subject to Congressional oversight; and
Whereas, Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, gives the United States Congress the authority to coin Money and regulate the value thereof; and
Whereas, auditing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to assert its constitutional authority over monetary policy and help to protect the value of the United States dollar; and
Whereas, 1st District Representative Robert Wittman has signed on as a co-sponsor to HR 1207,
Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Members of the Prince William County Republican Committee, commend Representative Wittman for his defense of the United States Constitution, and STRONGLY URGE all representatives of the 111th United States Congress to support the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.
During my presentation on why the committee should support the resolution there were more than a few heads nodding at the mention of unsustainable debt, monetizing the debt, devaluing the dollar etc. The entire discussion obviously struck a chord with the majority of those in attendance.
Many thanks to the Contra Costa County (California) GOP from whom I proudly and shamelessly plagiarized the language for the resolution.

smashysmashy dover, NH | No HR 1207 cosponsor additions since last Thursday. Have we lost momentum or are they slow to update right now? |

roserty Orem, UT | Wow! This is great. I'm actually thinking that this bill might have a chance in the senate with this kind of support. That might be wishful thinking, but things like this are really encouraging. No matter what, all this support for this bill indicates that the average American is waking up. Yea! |

mjcholko Annandale, VA | Great work Ted! I'm glad to see something happening here in the 11th district with HR 1207, now we need to get Gerry Connolly on board. I've been calling, writing, and e-mailing, but have received only generic responses. Unfortunately, I'm working on several other things right now, so I have not had the time to organize anything relating to this bill.

walterstanley Livermore, CA | Does anyone know how many County Central Committees have passed this resolution around the nation?
As far as I know, Alameda County, Sonoma County & Contra Costa County from California have all passed similar resolutions. A few others have been passed around the nation besides the latest in Virginia.
The Republican Liberty Caucus of California passed the resolution as well.
