Hello and thank you for visiting my page.  My name is Teah Akrish.  I currently reside in Newcastle, WA, but I was born in Renton, WA, and have lived in various cities in our local area, from Bothell to Federal Way through out my life.  I consider myself just a regular woman, who is trying to live the American dream.  But I must say, I am not just living the American dream.  I would say that it is a human dream, that most if not all people through out the ages have likely wanted what I have today: a life free from tyranny.  Free to think and feel as I am.  Free to adopt any religion into my life or not.  Free to grow and fail and succeed in business or in my personal persuits.

Through out human history, people just like me, nothing too special and none too great, have had to overcome many challenges.  Institutions like slavery, and dictators like Hitler.  People these days seem to have forgotten that hatred, and power-hungry tyrants, and dictators wanting to oppress the average person to lift themselves up, have existed through out time... and they remain here, today, in our time.  There are people, living on the planet, that hate me for being who I am.  Because I am a woman.  Because my ancestors came from France and Sweden and Czechosolvakia and Great Britian and Germany.  Because I was born into a Mormon family.  Because I married a man who was born into Judism.  Because I own a dog who I consider my child.  Because I have sacrificed what little I have, monetarilly, emotionally and physically, to build a business so that I may have a better future for myself and for my family.  I wonder, what else do these people hate about me?

It doesn't matter, and it never will.  All that matters is that I am blessed to live in a nation where the framers of our founding law, our Constitution, understood this about human nature--that evil will always seek to oppress and will seek positions of power to fulfill their aims.

I think that today we continue to be in a war for freedom over tyranny.  And I think that we have already been led down the slippery slope, where our freedoms have already been taken away and are continuing to be erased, ever so slowly, but the pace is quickening.

I am deeply concerned about where our nation is headed.  I am proud to be an American, and I understand what it means to be an American.  We have always stood for Liberty and have fought and died for this ideal.  We are a beacon to the world, of what a nation can accomplish when we passionately believe in the freedom of the human spirit.

I do not think that most people that I see through out the day, as I run my errands for my small business or take my dog to the park, really understand who and what we are, as American citizens, to the world.  I wonder why me, of all people, have this understanding.  Did I have a better education than others?  What makes me so different?

Again, it doesn't matter.  What matters is that I strive everyday to better understand freedom, and liberty, and government, and war, and hatred, and socialism, and marxicism, and history, and people, and human nature.

I am seriously considering running for state representative in 2010.  Why?  Well, as they say, if you want something done right, you've got to do it yourself.  Or another, "Be the change you want to see in the world."  We have got to do something, and do it fast, and stick with it for decades and generations to come, or else I fear this great experiment will crumble to the point that it is irreparable.
