So this is not as up-to-date as it could have been a month ago, but my family and would really appreciate your feedback. My brother Evan is a professional independant filmmaker, my dad is a brilliant austrian economist and philosopher, his best friend Kim is a behaviour analyst and social scientist, and I am your host for this ten minute experience, on our trip from Louisville, KY to D.C.
Poll: What kind of videos would you like to see us produce?
After the first question at Congressman John Yarmuth's town hall meeting asked "why aren't the democrats forcing their power on the republicans," my dad stood up and yelled, "anyone in the audience who is a republican should stand up and leave right now." after which the hearest police officer escorted my father and myself from the premises. Dad later went on TV saying the whole thing was rigged, and a scam, with pre-selected questions from the audience. Now, today, FOUR customers have called his emplyer to complain, and one asked for their money back for services he provided. Now he is in a very distressed state, thinking he may end up fired from a position he has been working hard for for the last three years.
Has anyone else out there experienced real backlash for their political opinions? Things like losing customers? How did you deal with it? What advice would you have for my father in this situation? Thanks for any words of encouragement, man, this is depressing :(
Peace,
Kelly Toon,
Louisville, KY
Poll: Have your political beliefs affected your business?
I am sorry to hear that your dad is being punished for his beliefs, whatever they may be.
Glenn Beck is the first one to pop into my head as someone being punished for their beliefs. Another is the guy from Whole Foods.
Please know that the two examples above have received a lot of support from other liberty-loving Americans.
I am confused about something, though. When your dad stood up and said, "Anyone in the audience who is a republican should stand up and leave right now." Was he implying that as republicans, their voices wouldn't be heard during the meeting, or was he telling them to leave so the people that are FOR national healthcare could control the meeting?
Not that it REALLY matters--we are all entitled to our opinions--I'm merely curious.
Thanks so much for your kind words, I will definitely pass them on to my dad. To clarify, his impression was that the town hall was rigged to favor democrats and the public option. When he said that, he was suggesting that conservatives leave to protest the obvious bias. I was happy to leave with him, I didn't care to hear Yarmuth's far-left, big gov't-loving schlock. I had a much better time standing outside, campaigning for Rand Paul, and engaging my fellow Louisvillians in open, non-inflammatory discussions. Yarmuth has been a lap dog for none other than Nancy Pelosi, so I have no respect left for the man. However, he DID admit that lobbyists run Washington, and that the people don't stand a chance! Can you imagine? The first words out of his mouth at the mic were "Folks, this isn't about me . . . it's about struggling American families." Um, yeah right!! This IS about him, and we aren't about to let him forget it!
Good for you!! I'm happy that you didn't let "a good opportunity go to waste." Thank you for sticking around outside and giving people the chance to hear the truth outside, or go inside and be lied to, yet again.
You're a real trooper, and I'm glad that you and your dad were there to support the Constitution, rather than the politicians that destroy it with every stroke of their pen.
Much luck to you and yours, and please let your liberty loving family here at C4L know if there is anything we can do to help.
On September 8th, President Obama will be broadcast into elementary school classrooms across the nation. I haven't a clue what the speech will be about, but WHO CARES? Do you think the media would have let this go unnoticed if it had been George W. Bush speaking directly to our children in the classroom? Here is a prepared document being given to teachers in the public school system, to ready their wards for the President's speech:

If you have children in public school, please look over this document and prepare your child to deal with this.
oops, my html did not work. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/10582301/President-Obama's-Address-to-Students-Acros s-America-September-8-2009 is the proper link.

This is a very interesting article. A group of secretive people have been gathering in tunnels under Paris, staging plays, and other activities. They are tryng to restore the cultural heritage of France. Their most public work has been fixing the Pantheon clock, which hasn't run for many years.
A few quotes that I found relevant to the c4l revolution:
"We would like to be able to replace the state in the areas it is incompetent," said Klausmann. "But our means are limited and we can only do a fraction of what needs to be done. There's so much to do in Paris that we won't manage in our lifetime."
"The Latin Quarter is where the concept of human rights came from, it's the centre of everything. The Panthéon clock is in the middle of it. So it's a bit like the clock at the centre of the world."
My husband and I just finished watching one of the coolest movies ever made, namely The Matrix. I'm sure many of you saw this movie in theatres. If you haven't seen it yet, please figure out how to get a copy. The concept of The Matrix being an all-encompassing kind of hive mind that strives to repress, dominate, rule, and leech off of humanity can easily be seen as an analogy of the all-powerful State. It is a story about "waking up" and seeing reality for what it actually is below the surface, going deeper into one's true potential, and having faith in what you learn and know to be true. Plus it's still got some of the most kickass special effects ever seen on film. And nifty clothing. And sexy actors.
By the way, our trip to the Speed Art Museum in Louisville was amazing. The Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness exhibit was breathtaking. Trumbells portraits of the men and women directly involved in the Revolutionary war were spectacular. To see a larger than life portrait of George Washington, the father of our country, was humbling and inspiring. Please be on the look out to see if this valuable collection will be traveling to a city near you; this is the first time these works have left their home at Yale.
I hope the New Year is treating everyone well. Peace!
Beofre I re-vamped my facebook site to be CFL blanketed, my fav movie descriptions was "The Matrix, Aeon Flux, Ultra Violet, Basically anything with hot women dressed in leather or vinyl" hahaha how childish was that? I agree though, great movie and yes, many similarities in the manner our govenrment is slowly taking over while we sleep.
All of us at C4L have taken the "red pill". If you haven't already check out the latest Star Wars. Namely episodes II and III. Not so subtle hints about the state of our own Republic in those two.
Nice post, I just updated my profile using the same metaphor.
It is just liberating knowing we are sheep always being herded towards unreality. I was as guilty as anyone in believing in the false reality and I must fight the notion everyday that ignorance is bliss and life was much simpler.
But once you know of the matrix one can no longer go back to living as if it does not exist. The problem with the lack of reality is that there is always a day of reckoning, much like we are experiencing now.
Now I have to go back watch The Matrix again it has been several years. It made absolutely no sense the first time I watched it but the special effects were cool.
