I am a supporter of our devinely inspired, and still "cutting edge" United States Constitution. I often times find myself wondering why many of our Elected Officials refuse to think outside the of mainstream box, when after all, our conception was one of radical ideas and an experimental proposition to let the "people" regulate themselves.
Well, today we see the vast majority of the Political Establishment refuse to give:
1: Honest time of day to major Constitutional concerns from their constituents.
2: Grassroots participation at all levels a "task" that would increase awareness, encourage more participation, and allow for the rebirth of the principles and ideas that allowed America to thrive and prosper.
3: True Ethical Accountability a fair chance of not being "compromised" by appointing/electing people with clear conflicts of interest to vital positions of oversight and investigation. (This is the case here in Utah with the new Ethics Committee appointed by Governor Huntsman)
I have never been so well recieved while handing out literature promoting Constitutional causes and I am very happy to report that people were happy and eager to see what I was handing out at in the parade, often times getting out of their lounge chairs to catch me and get a copy of my handouts!
We have a long way to go and I hope that my report will help show that people are ready for our message of Freedom, Liberty, Honest Money, and Free Markets.
I hope that anyone who is able to come to our weekly bookclub meetings at the Heritage Foundation School where we discuss books, government, and even have Congressional and Senatorial Candidates address us from time to time.
In the very near future we would like to be in the County Fair and Brigham City Peach Days. If you would like to help with one of these events call me at the number below and get out of your comfort zone and realize how much fun it can be fighting to preserve our great country.

Poll: How did you recieve the "Minuteman/Pirate" and his literature in the Wheat & Beet Days Parade?
Ron Paul? Not on the Glenn Beck show! And some notes from the weekly Tremonton 9/12 book discussion after the video.
And here's some of the Geeky things that we have been talking about at our weekly meetings at the Heritage Foundation School in Garland/Tremonton.
Our Framers spoke of 4 Foundations of Freedom:
They were as follows; if I left any out throw 'em in here!
1. Private Virtue. Example: George Washington fights the Revolutionary War for several years comes back home to his plantation awhich produces losses, gets letters from James Madison urging him to return to Washington to avert the new nations collapse and he abliges.
2. Public Virtue. Example: Nations get the government they desrve.
3. Widespread Education. Not to be confused with indoctrination. Example In the early 1800s you were nearly garaunteed to find at every cottage two books; The Bible, and Shakespere.
4. Auxillary Precautions. (Plan B) in case all other safegaurds failed.
4.1. Legitimate Foundation: Example: God's Law above National Law above Man's Law.
4.2 Legitimate Authirity. Example: Government's power comes from The People.
4.3. Legitimate Role. Example: "The only time Government should use Force is when one of the inalienable rights is being infringed." E.T.Benson.
4.4. Separation of Powers. Read "The Federalist Papers" #47 Easily found online. Example: Legislative, Judicial, Executive, and you could possibly debate States in the early days.
4.5. Balances. Example: These would be considered "stopping" actions to prevent something from happening like Exec. Veto, or Judicial Ruling.
4.6. Balances. This could be considered a working relationship of cooperation. Example: Legislature declares war and the Executive/President leads and the Executive Appointments and the Senate's Ratification of the appointees.
4.7. Federalism. Lots of states make it harder for the Feds to railroad things through.
4.8.Written Constitution. Example: makes it harder to loose or change or be watered down.
4.9. Enumerated Powers. Origionally 26
4.10. Periodic Elections.
4.11. Electoral College. Was this ever given the time to be ironed out?
4.12. Factionization. Make it more difficult to accomplish goals of the Gov. "groupies" or individuals.
Hope people aren't asleep after reading all that note taking of mine from last nights meeting....

This video of what is going on with HR 1207 by Ron Paul shows that we still need to contact those on the Monitary Policy Sub-Committee who will be working on this legislation and very possibly attempting to water it down before it appears before the entire Committee (the House of Reps).
Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology
Rep. Melvin L. Watt (NC), Chairman Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (NY) Rep. Gregory W. Meeks (NY) Rep. William Lacy Clay (MO) Rep. Brad Sherman (CA) Rep. Al Green (TX) Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (MO) Rep. Keith Ellison (MN) Rep. John Adler (NJ) Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (FL)
Rep. Ron Paul (TX), Ranking Member Rep. Michael N. Castle (DE) Rep. Frank D. Lucas (OK) Rep. Jim Gerlach (PA) Rep. Tom Price (GA) Rep. Bill Posey (FL) Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ)
Here are the members that need to be urged not to water this piece of legislation down to have the greatest benifit from this transparency.
Call the capitol switchboard 202-224-3121 and ask for these members offices, or feel free to comment on this blog post with their direct numbers.
When contacting these members, remember that up to this point, these members have been allies on this issue. A civil yet firm tone should be kept during these calls. They should be thanked for their cosponsorship, told that Mel Watt's changes to the bill are unacceptable, and urged to hold the line and honor their promise to support transparency at the Fed by voting "Yes" for the Paul amendment.
It is also important that we contact Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and urge them to schedule a standalone, up or down vote on the real Audit the Fed bill.
Rep. Barney Frank: (202) 225-5931
Speaker Nancy Pelosi: (202) 225-0100
Now is a crucial time for Audit the Fed. If these 13 Democrats hold the line, we can win this battle. But, they must vote "Yes" on the Paul amendment when the full committee votes.
HB 107 seems like an unecessaary use of $150k (FRNs) when we are in a financial downturn and having to cut spending in many sectors. Since it is obvious by the proposal of this bill that there are costs incurred by providing services to illigal aliens/immigrants, as well as money recieved, (by who, to who's SS#?), it seems that any cost in collecting data and providing research relevant to this state is money that should be spent to rectify the problem, rather than funding a study. Unless what the legislators want is money to okay the violation of immigration laws This bill also delays the effective date of S.B. 81. from 2008 I do not support this bill. presented by Stephen Clark
I would support LEGISLATOR GIFT REPORTING ACTHB139 If it were ammended to contain something that would put an oversight/transparency on a total gift(s) amount during a 12 month period as well, as to seal any possible loopholes not sealed by the daily limit allowed of $25. My Father just pointed this out, that there was a way around it if it were a daily donation amount of 25 dollars. Have you used computerized automatic bill pay? $9125 in one year is okay and would fly into a Campaign or legislators account "under the radar" as allowed by this bill as is. So as-is I do not support this bill. presented by Ctephen Clark
H.B. 88 Local District Board of Trustees Amendments -- Fisher, Janice This bill seems to take away from grassroots participation in self representative form of government, but there may not be a qualified member of the board living in the mosquito abatement district. I would like to hear the argument for it. H.B. 218 Family Employment Program Amendments -- Fisher, Janice I wonder exactly how many entitlement programs we have in the state as well as the nation. This bill seems to shorten an existing law, by doing this: &n bsp; [(5) (a) In an appropriations act, the Legislature shall determine annually the maximum 42 monthly dollar amount of cash assistance for families based on family size.] 43 [(b)] (5) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulema king &nbs p; 44 Act, the department shall [establish] make rules for eligibility and the amount of cash 45 assistance a family is eligible to receive under this part based on:
H.B. 38 Refugee Services Fund Amendments -- Herrod, C. If there is a fund for Refugee Services, why not let the fund remain to itself? Are these services provided benificial to the citizens? If so, how?
H.B. 32 Amendments to Agency Rulemaking Regarding Criminal Penalties -- Ferry, B.
This bill seems to be very restrictive, and extremely lengthy. I had a problem with not being allowed to have in your possesion any ammunition while persuing a protected wildlife. Well if it were a wild area and you needed to have a gun for personal defense, then what? Run? There are many good points but I think that it may need to be less restrictive. I need to read it more thoroughly.
I support HJR001 as a fine example of weakened US Sovereignty by International and Global organizations and institutions. presented by Cheryll L Allen Capital Improvement Appropriation Modification HB 0300 is self explanitory: Individual, Business and/or Local Impact: Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs and/or benefits for individuals, businesses, or local governments. If everyone else has to tighten their belts, the State ought to as well, and are. So why do we need it, unless it is a spending cut? presented by Bigelow, R. I support the free markets.
H.B. 216 This bill seems to shorten a lengthy bill regulating the telecommunications industry. Is there any flexability for "Price Gouging" , I hope not. presented by Fred Huntsaker
I support H.B. 51 Exemption for Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturing License -- Johnson, C. Hopefully, those who decide to use it don't abuse it. While making beer or wine they also We have a good and moral people here in UT and I think the citizens will not be endangered or harmed by this bill. H.B. 75 Utah Communications Agency Network Amendments -- Hunsaker, F What is the reasoning behind the scheduled 2 and 4 year terms?
S.B. 40 Lawful Presence Verification for Issuance of a Driver License or Identification Card -- Bramble, C. This bill seems to close loopholes in a guest DL.However, it is too long and needs to be drastically simplified. Adding more to an already existing law than it removes or clarifies makes me question this bill. Is this a diversion from other bills? I was unwilling to spend anymore time reading it after spending quite some time, only to get 1/3 of the way through it. .
If someone is not legal to be here then they ought not receive the "privilige" of driving on state roads, period.
