THANK YOU for posting this... as you all are aware,,, most of us are enslaved to work to cover our taxes by the State,, and we don't get to see these things unfold live.. thank you for giving us the chance to bask in the moment as we see our efforts germinate. Bless Dr. Paul and all the C4L'ers out there!!

Congratulations! This is a great message for the future of liberty in this great Constitutional republic. And thanks to Rep. Alan Grayson as well. The Watt Amendment is dead!

Apparently Mr Watts believes that belittling his opponent and raising his voice makes his views superior....yet another attempt to marginalize common sense.

Congressman Watts did not and could not counter the very specific examination of the Watt amendment made by Congressman Grayson. Instead he mixed together his emotional rhetoric and half-truths and blatant lies to try to shout his way to the political ascendancy promised him by the movers and shakers of the unConstitutional coup.

Hopefully the citizens in his Congressional district will now know without a shadow of a doubt that he is bought and sold. To re-elect him is to endanger our Constitutional Republic.

He clearly does not understand his own amendment. He clearly just amended the bill precisely as ordered by his bankster contributors.

He is also clearly under some stress. Contrast his emotional response to Grayson's cool dismantling of the Watt amendment.

Talk about muddying the water, Mr. Watt is great at it. I'm glad his amendment failed.

Also, he's a douche. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

What I'd like to know is if it's possible for C4L to target Mr. Watt politically? Can we make an example out of him? I would be willing to donate money to run TV ads lambasting him in his district. Can we make re-election extremely difficult for him in the next election? This guy needs to know that there are reprisals. The bill to audit the Fed is ours. I would like to see more literal fear out of members of Congress who want to water it down.

The Tennessean reports that a Gibson Guitar plant in Nashville, Tennessee was raided by agents of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Their mission: to find out if Gibson Guitar was in violation of the U.S. Lacey Act, which now prohibits the use of some exotic and "endangered" woods from the world's rainforests:

Amid rainforest depletion, such woods are increasingly a focus of tight international controls. Last year, the U.S. Congress amended a turn-of-the-century wildlife protection law (the Lacey Act) to extend its reach to endangered timber species and plants.

The thinking here is that the government must ensure that uncaring entrepreneurs do nothing to wreck the environment. Nevermind the fact that these depleting forests are managed by their respective governments, U.S. Federal agencies must raid businesses to rescue "timber species."  The article continues:

Sometimes it's possible for wood not allowed under the Lacey Act to slip through as a mistake, said Richard Hoover, founder of Santa Cruz Guitar Co. in California. Hoover said it's possible that his company may have been fooled into buying illegal wood.

"Illegal wood" is indicative of the so-called environmental agenda so pervasive in Washington.  Respect for property rights in land ownership would go a long way toward saving the rainforest and protecting the environment, but don't tell that to the D.C. central planners.

Quality Hardwoods For Quality Guitars Is Now A Crime.

This is an example of, and an outcome of, why Keynesianism was so readily adopted around the world even though it is economic quackery.

Keynesianism (empowered) and empowers the ones who have lusted after and attained political power. They do not want to be constrained by economic laws and so they are all in favor of Keynesianism which simply ignores economic laws in favor of ego-driven interventionism. Property rights are not a part of Keynesianism, other than the confiscation of property rights for ego-driven intervention uses.

In the perverse Keynesian world, such as we live in today, the absence of the protection of private property rights leads to unsustainable exploitation of valuable resources all around the world which leads to further violations of property rights by the 'goons' who are blindly expanding the ego-driven intervention perpetuated by the monsters created by the quackery of Keynes.

So what is the penalty for using this illegal wood?

No rain forests, no special wood. Product loses unique sound characteristics, then its appeal to musicians, and finally market share.

There is a natural incentive for a company like Gibson to maintain/protect those rain forests. Self regulating, yet simple.

Let's not talk about how govt subsidies created huge demand for clear cutting of these same forests to produce ethanol and sugar cane.

It would be hard to imagine Gibson doing this, but how long before it decides it has had enough and sends jobs overseas?

Les Paul must be spinning right now.

This is ridiculous.

Gibson makes a lot of guitars but JEEPERS!, how much wood are we talkin' here? And I thought that wood was a renewable resource. The comments above this are far superior in wisdom than I can provide, so I won't try to add to it.

I'm just depressed. This is just a publicity stunt for guvmint bullies. Glad I left the U.S.

What if you grow these "endangered" tree species on your own land. Would that count as part of the lacey act?

The New York Times reports that an audit of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has revealed that the most influential regional reserve bank of the Federal Reserve System gave a "backdoor bailout" to A.I.G.'s banks. Neil M. Barofsky, the special inspector general for TARP, believes that "Tens of billions of dollars of government money was funneled inexorably and directly to A.I.G.'s counterparties." The story continues:

Mr. Barofsky said the facts also undermined the Fed's arguments that banking secrecy was an essential part of bank stability.

"The default position, whenever government funds are deployed in a crisis to support markets or institutions, should be that the public is entitled to know what is being done with government funds," he said.

Read the rest here.

Audit the Fed here.

It's great that the media guys seem to want to hear the truth. Inviting Dr. Paul to speak for 2 hours! Wow, that would be awesome :)

One of the better interviews with Dr Paul. I'd still love to see Dr Paul fire back at Steve Liesmann by asking him if he really believes the current system is sustainable. They always seem to question the sustainable economic model Dr Paul proposes without examining the absurdity of the current system.

having said all that, dr Paul and his team need to start behaving like major players now. criticize obama all you want, but the package which was presented to the media was top notch during the campaign. there was no dithering around when answering questions and that confident approach is very reassuring to voters.

i have recommended before a debate coach, speaking coach, team of speech writers etc. i know i have been slated here before for suggesting this, but we need to provide a message which is fit for mainstream consumption.

Great interview! I would love to see a 2 hour special with Ron. They do it all the time with people like Warren Buffet and Jamie Dimon on CNBC. Write them a request citing this interview:

They LOVE him!

AND they want 2 hours of Ron-rambling ... they won't interrupt, they'll let him talk. Whoa! Yeah! What an opportunity. What can we do to make this happen?

This is unprecedented, and surely they can't go back on their offer.

Good job, Dr. Paul. You're my president.

58robbo,

No slighting here. I have been supporting Dr. Paul for over 15 years and understand your advice. Dr. Paul knows so much it is hard for him to even pause. Couple that with the fact that he is the perfect gentleman so he never sends zingers.

For instance, during the presidential debates the fool from Fox asked him if he was electable. I was throwing things at the TV and so wanted Dr. Paul to just say something like, "Sir, do you realize that you have just insulted the voters of the 14th district of the great State of Texas who have elected me to congress 9 times?!"

Nonetheless, his support is growing.

Go RP!

Did you hear those commentators? I heard about 6-8 "ah ha moments" during Dr. Paul's discussion! The creme de la creme was their request to have Ron Paul back on for a 2 hour special! Now that would certainly help spread the message!

The Wall Street Journal reports that the health bill will partially remove indexing for price inflation.  As usual, the tax is geared against so-called "rich" citizens:

The tax would begin in 2011 on income above $500,000 for singles and $1 million for joint filers. Assuming a 4% annual inflation rate over the next decade, that $500,000 for an individual tax filer would hit families with the inflation-adjusted equivalent of an income of about $335,000 by 2020. After 20 years without indexing, the surcharge threshold would be roughly $250,000...

As we can see, due to the government's slow destruction of the monetary unit, entrepreneurs and savers are not only being ripped off by the printing press, they are being stealthily pushed into higher tax brackets for unreal gains in their income (thanks, Mr. Bernanke).  The tax will also be applied to small business:

As for the business payroll penalty, it is imposed on a sliding scale beginning at a 2% rate for firms with payrolls of $500,000 and rising to 8% on firms with payrolls above $750,000. But those amounts are also not indexed for inflation, so again assuming a 4% average inflation rate in 10 years this range would hit payrolls between $335,000 and $510,000 in today's dollars. Note that in pitching this "pay or play" tax today, Democrats claim that most small businesses would be exempt. But because it isn't indexed, this tax will whack more and more businesses every year. The sales pitch is pure deception...

Even if you are for the further nationalization and cartelization of health care, please help us oppose this bill as it will undoubtedly trap more Middle-Americans in a ridiculously unreasonable tax situation that will damage their lives and ability to get by in the government's latest disaster: the economy.

Is Congress Untrustworthy With Regards Health Care?

It is not wise to trust the untrustworthy. Give an inch to a disreputable one and you give up all of your rights.

Buried deep in the 'lie and oppress' health care bill is the stealthy extraction of property rights and human rights.

Do not sit idle while the parasites multiply and try to attach at more and more sites to extract more and more until the host completely succumbs to the economic terrorism of the unConstitutional coup.

Make sure that every elected representative - that you have the fortitude to contact - knows that you will hold them accountable.

It seems as if we cannot raise awareness fast enough to stop these terrorists we call Congress.

We need to double our efforts. Talk to our family members. Wake up the world before it's too late.

We are being hijacked with blind folds on. Except I am afraid they aren't planning on landing this plane safely.

How come the numbers of members of the Campaign For Liberty are not growing faster than they are?

I had hoped that each of us would be motivated to find at least one other each day or each week to join with us in our endeavor to restore our country. IF each of us did then our numbers would be doubling every week or two! Instead only an additional one hundred or so are added each day. It is as if only one hundred
of us are doing the job!
