"New rule lifts ban on firearms in national parks"
Most likely as part of a "legacy" effort, the Bush administration has announced that it is overturning a 25 year old rule that severely restricted having guns in national parks.
Under a rule to take effect in January, visitors will be able to carry a loaded gun into a park or wildlife refuge — but only if the person has a permit for a concealed weapon and if the state where the park or refuge is located also allows concealed firearms....
The Interior Department rule overturns a Reagan-era regulation that has restricted loaded guns in parks and wildlife refuges. The previous regulation required that firearms be unloaded and placed somewhere that is not easily accessible, such as in a car trunk....
Read the rest here.
In the current Congress, Dr. Paul confronted restrictions on guns in national parks by introducing HR 1897.

Philip State College, PA | So to recap....
Dr. Paul introduced legislation to overturn a law dictated by the president. Oh, they'll call it something else, like a "rule" but it's a law. And the purpose of the law was to enforce the 2nd amendment.
This is like a Con Law, "Can you spot the problems in this scenario" question. |

JJR1985 Shelby Twp., MI | When they speak of wildlife refuge, I thought they meant down in Washington, cause those people act like animals and we need to start protecting ourselves from them...hope nobody makes that mistake...what a shame that would be :) |

1. To break, as contracts; to violate, either positively by contravention, or negatively by non-fulfillment or neglect of performance. A prince or a private person infringes an agreement or covenant by neglecting to perform its conditions, as well as by doing what is stipulated not to be done.
2. To break; to violate; to transgress; to neglect to fulfill or obey; as, to infringe a law.
3. To destroy or HINDER [emphasis mine]; as, to infringe efficacy.

Philip State College, PA | Just realized my previous comment was a tad confusing.
Ron Paul has to introduce legislation to enforce the 2nd amendment. Uhh, Congress doesn't need to pass such laws... the Constitution already is the ultimate law! Sadly, ignoring the Constitution necessitates such actions.
Also, Presidents don't make laws, Congress does! Sadly, "rules" necessitate such actions by Ron Paul. |

CharlotteJuett Genoa, NE | All our president elect would need to do is appoint one or two justices to the Supreme Court and the recent ruling that the 2nd Amendment applied to the individual citizen and not just to the National Guard would be overturned in a heartbeat.
With just a snap of the fingers, we would go from a nation with at the possiblility of freedom to a nation of slaves. The only thing that has kept at least a semblence of freedom in this country is that a VERY large minority of the population own guns and know how to use them. The only question is how many would turn over their guns to the government if the 2nd Amendment is overturned? I know that I will not ever surrender my ONLY method of retaining freedom.

What about open carry law? Most every state has an open carry law.. So I'm gathering that only those that have CCW permit be able to carry in a state park? This doesn't really solve the issue does it ? I believe it's another "bone" thrown to Gun Owners in hopes of keeping us happy. And to keep us out of the picture as Politicians in Washington can continue "politics as usual"
