Police prepare for drill for plague at school
OK -- this article has me creeped out. First, Lake in the Hills is only a short 30-45 minute drive from where I live - so this one hits close to home. Secondly, a week ago there was an outbreak of some bug in Ukraine that in 1 week has gone from ~100,000 cases to ~800,000 cases, with many people exhibiting symptoms of pheumonic plague or hemmoraghic pheumonia - drowning to death from their own fluids. Next, we have Chicago with one of (if not THE) largest concentrations of Ukrainians in the US. Because of that large community and the frequent/constant travel from UA to Chicago, I would expect we would be next on the list to get hit with this new bug. But having a mock drill so soon after the outbreak of the bug sounds fishy to me. It makes me ask: "What do the powers that be know that isn't being reported? And how will that information impact me and my family?" To me, with my suspicious mind, this sounds too pat, like the outbreak was planned from the beginning. There are just too many coincedences in the timings here.
Police prepare drill for plague at school By DAVID FITZGERALD
LAKE IN THE HILLS - Citizens infected with a fictitious pneumonic plague will line up outside Lincoln Prairie Elementary School on Saturday to help test the site as a medication dispensary in case of an emergency.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department is carrying out the test as part of a grant from the McHenry County Department of Health for its emergency health plan. In case of a biological terrorist attack or widespread disease outbreak, the site would be able get medicine to the community, Lake in the Hills Chief of Patrol Services David Brey said.
"This is just a functional test of the site," he said.
The event will use volunteers pretending to have been stricken by the plague to help test the flow of the site, from initial triage through receiving proof of being medicated.
"We picked the plague on purpose so it would have nothing to do with the swine flu," Brey said.
The test will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Prairie, 500 Harvest Gate, across from Lake in the Hills Village Hall.

libertyspirit Modesto, CA | That is scary. Do you have some herbal remedies and/or antibiotics on hand? Perhaps a naturopath could recommend a preventative/protective type remedy. |

bobjones68 Schaumburg, IL | Libertyspirit, I have been taking between 1500-2000 i.u of Vitamin D and C to stimulate my natural immune system, which should ward off any of these nasty bugs, or keep the illness down to a minimum. |

Just as some added information. I once had a bleeding ulcer. The doctors were giving me some kind of drug that made me want to get up and run. I was shaking, it was bad stuff. I insisted on taking vitamin k. It is a natural blood coagulant. The internal bleeding stopped. I am not a doctor, and I am not giving medical advice. This information is for entertainment purposes only.
Thank you,

bobjones68 Schaumburg, IL | Mr Walker,
I generally look at taking 2-3x the RDA for ALL vitamins. Its my belief and understanding (much of it coming from the mouth of Dr. Michael Weiner a.k.a. Michael Savage) that the USRDA for vitamins are designed to keep us sick and dependent on pills. I am currently looking for natural sources of said vitamins that I can incorporate into my daily diet.

 libertyspirit Modesto, CA | Bob,
Until you find what you are comfortable with for daily vitamins/minerals, you might try getting some of those Emergen-C packets. They come in different varieties at Trader Joe's or other stores. I pour them into a small amt. of juice and water. They have been a good source of vitamins in the absence of taking a daily pill, just until I could find exactly what I wanted.
