Fight to Stop Health Care "Reform" Continues
UPDATE: The Democrats' health care reform plan passed in a vote of 220 to 215 at 11:07 p.m. Saturday night. At this point we need to rally and prepare to put a lot of pressure on our Senators to stop this attempt to strip away more of our freedom. We can do this by contacting our senators and convincing others to join in the effort. Visit www.operationhealthfreedom.com for information on the Campaign for Liberty Operation Health Freedom plan.
Campaign for Liberty supporters continued the fight into the night Saturday to stop a massive health care "reform" bill. Many people waited in line for two hours or more to make their presence known in the House Gallery as their representatives debated the legislation that would force every family to purchase health insurance.
Their fury stems from the 1,990 page "comprehensive health reform" bill that strips away patient rights and plunges taxpayers into another federal financial fiasco. With the pages taped together the bill stretched from the Library of Congress to the front door of the Capitol building. Earlier Saturday afternoon a group of protestors gathered on the US Capitol lawn in yet another effort to convince their representatives that they don't want more goverment regulations restricting their access to health care.
Earlier this week, on Thursday, anger drove thousands of citizens, including Campaign for Liberty supporters, to show up on Capitol Hill.
The backlash from constituents came as word trickled out that the House of Representatives was gearing up to vote on the monstrosity. Protestors are fighting to protect the physical and financial health of themselves, their parents, and their children.
Lines of constituents waiting to make a "house call" on his or her Congressional Representative wrapped around all three House office buildings. The angst generated by this persistent, yet mostly polite, crowd of voters was all over the faces of Congressional staffers who darted past the long lines.
Estimates of the protest attendance range from 20,000, reported by Fox News, to the "thousands" mentioned by the Washington Post. News reports from the hours following the event may persuade protestors that their effort had little impact. After all, the response of those pushing this legislation seems to dismiss the sheer magnitude of what happened on Capitol Hill.
ABC News correspondent Jake Tapper reported on how White House press secretary Robert Gibbs responded to news of Thursday's march. Gibbs said that protesting is "well within your constitutionally protected rights in this representative democracy." However he seemed determined to overlook the significance of the protestors' message adding, "If you were a representative in that democracy, it might also be good to have a solution that addresses some of those problems." In reality Campaign for Liberty has a free market solution that would truly resolve the health care problems Gibbs referenced. Our strategy also protects the country from a myriad of problems contained in the current "reform" plan. We recently launched the website www.operationhealthfreedom.com which defines what true health care reform looks like. Perhaps what really gives power players heartburn is that we do have a plan-and our plan protects your freedom.
Many of you responded to the current outrageous "reform" plan by marching into your representative's office, calling, mailing letters, and signing petitions. That sends a critical message to our Representatives: their future in office may depend on whether they choose to protect our freedom. Thank you for your effort and keep up the good work.
