Press Release: Operation Health Freedom Website Launched
Operation Health Freedom Website Launched
Washington, D.C., November 5, 2009 - Today, House Republicans are holding a press conference in front of a rallying crowd to oppose the Democrat's health reform plan introduced late last week. Campaign for Liberty, which announced its support for an alternative to the Democrat health reform plan last week as well, is also launching a new project and website to promote its proposal.
The project, Operation Health Freedom (http://www.OperationHealthFreedom.com), boasts a site which gives visitors information on the legislation and on how to contact their representatives in Congress to urge them to support this alternative health reform package.
"Campaign for Liberty is proposing that Congress try passing legislation that promotes true health freedom," said John Tate, President of Campaign for Liberty. "The same government that has given us trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities for Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security is not going to fix our health care system with this latest bureaucratic scheme. It's time to vote health freedom."
The Operation Health Freedom package includes legislation introduced by Congressman Ron Paul. The cornerstone of the package is H.R. 1495, the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act of 2009, which provides all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses, a tax credit for premiums for high-deductible insurance policies connected with a Health Savings Account (HSA), and allows seniors to use funds in an HSA to pay for a medigap policy. In addition, it makes all medical expenses tax deductible.
Also included are H.R. 2629, a bill that prevents the government from requiring people to purchase health insurance, and H.R. 3217, introduced by Congressman John Shadegg, which permits the purchase of health insurance across state lines and will ultimately lower costs due to the resulting competition.

docpearce pewaukee, WI | Something is missing with this. And while it's a million times better than what is on the table now, I'm still stuck on this idea:
This appears to want high deductible plans paired with HSA's. I think Peter Schiff had it right. HSA's paired with major medical would be much better. I'd prefer people to pay cash out of their own HSA for everyday treatments and have insurance cover major problems.
If you have the insurance cover everything with high deductibles, the insurance companies still 'fix' the cost of the procedure. If you don't cover the procedure and you have to pay cash, then Dr's have to compete over your business with price and quality.
Also if people are paying cash for most services, then a clinic's overhead and headaches shrink dramatically because now they don't have to deal with the insurance BS and jump through the hoops.
Make that change and I'm completely onboard |

Property Rights And Human Rights In Health Care!
Physician and Congressman and statesman and classical liberalism scholar Ron Paul protects property rights and human rights as part of his health care proposals:
Allowing families to claim a tax credit for the rising cost of health insurance premiums. With many families now spending close to $1,000 or even more for their monthly premiums, they need real tax relief – including a dollar-for-dollar credit for every cent they spend on health care premiums – to make medical care more affordable.
A dollar-for-dollar tax credit that permits consumers to purchase "negative outcomes" insurance prior to undergoing surgery or other serious medical treatments. Negative outcomes insurance is a novel approach that guarantees those harmed receive fair compensation, while reducing the burden of costly malpractice litigation on the health care system. Patients receive this insurance payout without having to endure lengthy lawsuits, and without having to give away a large portion of their award to a trial lawyer. This also drastically reduces the costs imposed on physicians and hospitals by malpractice litigation. Individuals can purchase negative outcomes insurance at essentially no cost.
A $500 per child tax credit for medical expenses and prescription drugs that are not reimbursed by insurance. Create a $3,000 tax credit for dependent children with terminal illnesses, cancer, or disabilities. Parents who are struggling to pay for their children's medical care, especially when those children have serious health problems or special needs, need every extra dollar. Waive the employee portion of Social Security payroll taxes (or self-employment taxes) for individuals with documented serious illnesses or cancer. Suspend Social Security taxes for primary caregivers with a sick spouse or child. There is no justification or excuse for collecting Social Security taxes from sick individuals who literally are fighting for their lives.

larry101 New York, NY | "Today, House Republicans are holding a press conference in front of a rallying crowd to oppose the Democrat's health reform plan introduced late last week."
This was not a press conference. This was a disgusting display of hate, ignorance, and violence. Michelle Bachmann is an embarrassment. Is this really the kind of message C4L wants to be associated with? |

Gary Howard Arlington, VA | larry101,
We were just pointing out that as the House GOP were protesting the Dems plan, we were introducing our own alternative plan--which has nothing to do with what the House GOP proposed. |

soulglojesus Houston, TX | I like the idea of a website with good healthcare information, but for crying out loud, why are all the conservative or libertarian websites so freaking HIDEOUS AND UGLY!!!
I hate throwing rocks at what I find to be good information, but no wonder people dont know about these websites or the message. They (websites) are unfriendly, uninviting and un-navigatable/user friendly - from "Campaign For Liberty", all the way down to others like it, these sites are just down right unsightly. Period. |

Indigo North Bend, OR | The website says HR 1495 gives a "tax credit for 100% of health care expenses". This is inaccurate, the act gives a tax credit for health insurance premiums, while health care expenses are deductible. |
