Nov. 21 - A Conference Celebrating Liberty

November 2, 2009

"Every step we take towards making the State our Caretaker of our lives, by that much we move toward making the State our Master." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

The Ohio Freedom Alliance is proud to present: The Southwest Ohio Liberty Conference-a unique speaker's forum celebrating the true spirit and timeless traditions of Liberty, Honest Money and State Sovereignty. These three important ideals are paramount in understanding the path that must be traveled, in order to restore our republic.

Also critical to the success of placing America back on the path to greatness is the importance of re-evaluating our philosophy of what freedom truly is. While many profess to be "freedom loving Americans," in practice, they only advocate those freedoms they favor and fail to defend those freedoms they disfavor. This concept of freedom is wholly at odds with the natural law concept of freedom found in the Declaration of Independence. The founders knew very well the implications of respecting natural law and, therefore, used its intent vigorously in proposing our new form of government.

Honest money or sound money, that is to say, money produced without violating fraud laws, e.g., gold and silver, has been a freedom widely misunderstood by those who profess to be pro-liberty. The evidence is irrefutable and the theory is sound that fiat paper-money has been the root cause of the present financial crisis. Honest interpretation of world history is a great teacher and proves without a doubt that private central bankers and governments are poor stewards of a nation's wealth. Today, the dollar is worth, sadly, but $0.04 in comparison to its value in 1913, before the Federal Reserve Act was passed by Congress.

We would be wise to remember the maxim that "a government which governs least governs best." The leviathan-government, headquartered in Washington, D.C., should make any freedom-loving citizen cringe with disbelief and fear. There is practically nothing you can do, from getting married, to running a lemonade stand without first getting some kind of "permit" and then paying the applicable fees before enjoying the fruits of life. With misinterpretations of the "general welfare clause" of the Constitution and just plain disregard of the "law of the land" by our 3 branches of government (and a slew of unconstitutional bureaucracies), it is time for the states to challenge their servant-become-master in D.C. It is time for citizens to challenge their state governments, and it is time to challenge the scope and limits of government within our own communities. The ninth and tenth amendments in the Bill of Rights were and still possibly are our best means of properly "re-balancing the power" between, Washington, the states, local government and their employers "We the People."

A Revolution is here whether you know it or not. Albeit a peaceful one for now, it is this generation who has, whether they claim it or not, the responsibility of retaking what is rightfully ours. Someday, this generation may garner the title "the greatest generation", if we are able to restore the blessings of liberty to a nation still worthy of it.
