Press Release: 300 Members of the House Support Audit the Fed Bill
300 Members of The House Support Audit the Fed
Washington D.C., October 3, 2009 -The number of cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives for HR 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, climbed to 299. Including Congressman Ron Paul, the bill's author, 300 members of the House of Representatives now support an audit of the Federal Reserve. S 604, the Senate companion bill, currently has 30 cosponsors.
HR 1207 would open up the Fed's funding facilities, such as the Primary Dealer Credit Facility, Term Securities Lending Facility, and Term Asset-Backed Securities Lending Facility to Congressional oversight and an audit by the non-partisan Government Accountability Office. Additionally, audits would include discount window operations, open market operations, and agreements with foreign central banks, such as ongoing dollar swap operations with European central banks.
"Less than a year ago, an audit of the Federal Reserve wasn't on anyone's radar. Now the idea has the support of seventy five percent of the American people and a majority of Congress," said Jesse Benton, Senior Vice President at the Campaign For Liberty, which has been leading the grassroots effort in support of the bill since its introduction. "The policies put forth by the Fed have played a major role in the economic trouble our nation faces, so an audit of its operations is the common sense thing to do."
"When 300 members of the House support a bill, that indicates overwhelming support by the American People. HR 1207 should be brought to the House Floor for a prompt vote," continued Benton.
Support for the bill, which has been gathering steadily since being introduced earlier this year by Congressman Ron Paul, has reached a fever pitch in recent weeks with widespread media coverage on the release of Paul's highly anticipated book, End The Fed, and hearings on Fed transparency in the House Financial Services Committee held late last week.

"END THE FED" Trumps The Diversionary Tactics!
Distractions of Olympics and health care and wars and Iran fill the 'news' media just as it is orchestrated by the unConstitutional coup. Yet, despite all these dirty little distractions the Congress is being pressed by the real holders of the Constitution - the people - to stop the counterfeiting operation of the unConstitutional coup!!!
The economic terrorists who make up the inner circle of the unConstitutional coup are close to resorting to turning loose the military industrial complex to wreck havoc somewhere in the world.
Stop the killing, stop the wars, stop the counterfeiting, stop the propaganda and the lies.

What I don't understand is how come our own membership, currently 218,111, is rising by only about 100 each day. It is as if only 100 of us are recruiting successfully.
I realize not everyone we tell about our existence and our mission will join but i am sure i am not the only one here who is impatient for the doubling and redoubling of our membership to proceed as if we are recruiting for a revival of the American Revolution!
There is a division of labor involved which makes our success possible. We will only succeed if a substantial number of us recruit those who will in turn recruit themselves. This is not a passive process. One must take the initiative to ask "Have you heard of the Campaign For Liberty?" When you thus have someone's attention consider telling them what I say: "We believe the politicians do not keep their oath to uphold and preserve the Constitution and we intend to replace them in both parties with those who will keep the oath!"
Do not let a day go by without telling one or more people you chance to meet that the Campaign For Liberty exists if you want to help make it happen in the time we have left before they try to stop us.
Be sure to tell them to read the books too.
And don't forget the websites such as www.mises.org where so many of the Austrian economics books can be read entirely online.

Break your chains Byron, GA | Something very symbolic about that 300 number.
Here's a flashback from the campaign. Not Fed-related, just for fun:

sunny belfast , ME | gary,
please do not post more reps co-signing HR 1207 UNLESS you can put down who they are.
ron should NOT be included in the total as he IS the sponsor.
my nickname is sunny and it is my thread on www.dailypaul.com - "UPDATE - HR 1207 - 297 co-sponsors".
i update that count when it is listed on thomas. they are slow but it does happen.
there are still 297. chellie pingree signed on but it's not official yet. so that's one more who has supposedly signed on.
neither you nor jesse b should be saying this if either of you cannot back it up with the information - especially o a friday afternoon.

smashysmashy dover, NH | ^ First of all, this update is published... Second, the updates on C4L have NEVER been wrong. I don't really understand why you are depending on a government website so much. Third, the article is VERY clear that it is 299 cosponsors and 1 sponsor.
Seriously eat a chill pill, this is great news and we don't get much of that. |

sunny belfast , ME | smashy,
yup, it's great for more sign ons - the more the merrier!
because i do the HR 1207 thread i like to keep it current. i check daily more than once.
when i see an article that i cannot add because i don't have the names etc. it's a bit of a pain in the butt.
i just wish people would not post sign ons until they know who they are or include the info.
ron's office contacts thomas. that's how they update. and because thomas is slow it takes longer.
ron's congressional office did update also with the same numbers but did include one rep's info. hopefully, on monday thomas will be updated so i can update the thread.
that's why. people see these posts and they want to know who they are and i cannot tell them.

Witness Matthias Pasadena, TX | I wrote to Gene Green, AGAIN. Do you think I went too far over the top? The last time he responded with some song and dance about how necessary they are(the fed), and that congressional "hands off" was the way it has been done, and the way it should continue. He also said it was too difficult a subject for congress to interfere. Basically I intrepeted this to mean: 1_) He is too lazy to do his job 2_) He is too corrupt to change 3_) He is too stupid to change even if he wanted to.
Dear Sir: You have made it abundantly clear that you will refuse to do your Constitutional duties when it comes to the Federal(really private) Reserve. I do wonder what lame-o excuse you will come up with for not auditing the fed. I would ask, since you obviously don't understand that you work for your constituency, that you try and explain what your objections to auditing the fed consist of, and how in the world shining light into dark places would hurt the feds' ability to keep doing your job? I mean afterall with the Patriot Act's subversion of American rights the mantra you politicians like to spit at us is " if you have nothing to hide, it shouldn't bother you!!!". I don't really expect you to do the right thing because that would be a first for you, and you don't exactly strike me as an original anything. I do thank you however because after 25 years as a registered Democrat I am now a registered Independant. I bet Rick Perry wishes it was you that was running for govenor, it would be an easy win for him. Sincerely, T'd off
