Your hard work in this historic movement to Audit the Fed continues to pay off!

Thanks to the thousands of Campaign for Liberty members who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to spreading the word, gathering petitions, and putting continuous pressure on Congress by calling, writing, and faxing, Congressman Ron Paul informed C4L today that House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank has officially agreed to hold hearings on HR 1207! The hearings are tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 25 at 9:00 am.

Your efforts have resulted in Washington's most secretive institution having to defend itself before the media, the American people, and now at a House hearing specifically focused on transparency.

This exciting victory is only one more achievement in a battle that we must see through until the end.

Contact your representative and senators and urge them to cosponsor HR 1207/S 604 if they have not yet done so. If they signed on, tell them it is imperative that Audit the Fed receive a standalone, up or down vote on its own merits. Full transparency in our nation's monetary system is too important to be a minor footnote in yet another massive Washington bill, and C4L will vigorously oppose any attempts to include HR 1207 in a regulatory reform package that increases the Fed's power over our economy and lives.

Less than a year ago, a thorough audit of the Federal Reserve wasn't on anyone's radar. Now, we have the support of seventy five percent of the American people, almost two thirds of the House of Representatives, nearly a quarter of the Senate, and an official hearing before the House Financial Services Committee!

There will be more exciting information to follow soon, but I wanted you to know right away.  Now is the time to turn the heat up even more.

This is a victory toward the truth! Fozz is right everyone, what are the prospects? We really don't want this bill slipped into anything else that would grant the federal reserve power or any other bill at that. This bill stands alone! We need to start burning the midnight and let more people know about what an audit really means and what it will acomplish in the name of freedom. Thanks everyone for standing up for freedom.

Wow, I'm actually really surprised and impressed at the thought that this might happen. Is it possible for our movement to somehow begin a challenge of legal tender laws while these hearings are taking place? Legal tender laws are the most clearly unconstitutional laws in the US Code. Without them, the Fed would be greatly diminished. This might be a good time to bring them to light, I think the people would be interested in the Fed's illegal monopoly over our money supply.

While this is great news I'm kind of skeptical myself. Seeing as it's happening after reports of people at the UN as well as Russia and China having started to publicly call for a single world currency. My guess is they'll just use the failure of the Fed as another reason to go through with it.

It will be interesting to see how Barney Frank conducts this hearing. My hope is that there will be equal time given to testimony on both sides of the issue. It would be nice if Barney Frank would allow this bill out of committee unaltered, but I believe that HR1207 will probably be rolled into a larger finance reform bill, as Frank has mentioned before. If Barney or the committee starts pulling some tricks to kill HR1207, it may be up to Dr. Paul to file for a discharge petition to get HR1207 out of commitee and to the floor for a vote. It's the nuclear option, and I know Dr. Paul doesn't want to do that, but this is the closest he will ever come to having the support to audit the Fed, so he may have to do it. Anyway, it should be an interesting show...

Maybe one day in the not to distant future Americans can once again use silver and gold coins as a legal monetary unit. The Chicoms (Chinese commies) are telling their people to buy silver and gold! Do you really believe the Fed is going to just lie back and let this happen? They have assassinated presidents for less. They have caused and bankrolled wars, including our own revolution, for their own profit. They elect politically unknown lackeys to president. They own the majority of congress, almost every cabinet position, and almost every department position. They control the media, they control the world's, (including our own), monetary policy. This is a flea bite to them. If this bill passes, it will pass along with the Obama suggestions for a stronger, more powerful, unregulated federal reserve- most likely making it now legal for the feds to do anything, including the crimes an audit will uncover. Look at the congressmen now on board. A prime example is Barney Frank. Barney's the feds best boy. They know something we don't about the final disposition of this bill- otherwise they would have never signed on to face the possible wrath of the fed. At best- this bill will uncover the ultimate power that the fed holds; more power than the presidency, than congress, and the voters. Because of that I will continue to support the bill, continue to show people where to send their letters. When we lose, and the American people see just what this many headed monster has become, what we then do as Americans, is where the relevancy of HR 1207 lies.

Do these hearings mean Dr. Paul will be able to call prominent Austrian economists to testify? I'd love to hear the likes of George Selgin, Peter Boetkke, Joe Salerno and Robert Higgs speaking out in Congress.
