Yes, you read that right.  An overwhelming majority of Americans are suspicious of the Federal Reserve:

So much for the ongoing secrecy of the nation's independent central banking system. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 75% of Americans favor auditing the Federal Reserve and making the results available to the public.

Rasmussen goes on to quote Bernanke's tired line of the threat to Fed independence and Congress running monetary policy, but the article concludes this his ridiculous PR campaign is not working.

The new survey finds that an overwhelming majority of Americans in every demographic category - including age, gender, political affiliation, race and income - disagree with Bernanke and favor auditing the Fed to make its secretive deliberations public.

Read the rest here.

Keep up the pressure on your Representative here.

I'm surprised 75% of Americans know what the Federal Reserve is.

If they really knew what it is, it would have been abolished a long time ago.

Mmm... 75%?

I think a Ron Paul 2012 presidential campaign is starting to sound like a good idea.

"Aboard Hartford, Farragut entered Mobile Bay, Alabama, 5 August 1864, in two columns, with armored monitors leading and a fleet of wooden ships following. When the lead monitor Tecumseh was demolished by a mine, the wooden ship Brooklyn stopped, and the line drifted in confusion toward Fort Morgan. As disaster seemed imminent, Farragut swung his own ship clear and headed across the mines, which failed to explode. The fleet followed and anchored above the forts, which, now isolated, surrendered one by one."

As Farragut said "Damn the torpedoes Full speed ahead."

Thanks Andrew. This was a very refreshing post. The war will not be won with HR1207 alone, but I'll be damned if this news doesn't mean we're winning. Government is given consent by the governed.

Who'd have thought Ron Paul's little bill to ask a few questions would lead to Ben Bernanke's "PBS Magical Mystery Tour 2009", 75% of the American public supporting it, and more and more people educating themselves about the Federal Reserve?

At my local Barnes & Noble, copies of Griffin's "The Creature from Jekyll Island" were sold out and not available in any local branches (though the sales lady told me they did stock it).

When my friends get frustrated and ask "But what can we really do?" I always say that the first thing we have to do is get mad. Yelling and screaming about the problem in and of itself won't help. but it's the first logical step. Then comes education, action, and evangelism.

I really do think if this goes through it would AUTOMATICALLY plant the seed in the minds of the public for a Ron Paul 2012 candidacy. He'd be the only logical choice in a party that suffers from a lack of leadership, integrity, and personality.

Too bad 78% didn't want troops out by now though.

75% was cross-posted at the HuffPo. And I know Arianna is on board with Bernie Sanders. So we've got a strong ally there.

This is ridiculous. 75% support increased transparency for the fed - WHERE DOES OUR PRESIDENT STAND ON THIS ISSUE?

Anyone?

btimsah,
Our alleged president stands where his owners tell him to stand. He says what he is told to say, just like any other Uncle Tom Slave.
Thank you,
Robert Walker

This is an "oldie" from back when there were 207 co-sponsors. Worth a read.
