[Newer: "Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill Hits 207 Co-Sponsors"] [Older: 200!!!]

Earlier in the day, we reported that HR 1207 is now up to 200 cosponsors.

I'd like to correct that... by changing it to 207!!!

Rep. David Dreier (R-CA)
Rep. Steve King (R-IA)
Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)**
Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO)*
Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY)*
Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-NC)
Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA)

* House Financial Services Committee Member

** Minority Leader, House of Representatives (Yes, you read that right!)

What a relief. I've been all over Chris Lee to get on board. I'll be sure to commend him for doing so. Now my time is freed up to begin urging others to support the bill and the one in the senate. I was surprised he took so long to get with it. I figured it would be a no-brainer for him.

I'm curious what the hold up was.

One of his staffers told me earlier today that his offices were getting a lot of calls about it.

Kinda surreal.

How are we gonna stop them from raping the bill with the amendment process though? :[

Good question BrentBurk....your skepticism is probably very well-founded....

We should probably enjoy the progress we've been able to achieve just a bit....but not forget that the thing a good many of these co-sponsors have shown to be best at - is caving when it really matters....

With 218 within sight, let's keep up the efforts and go over. Think how 250 would look. Now that Carol S-P is on board, we can all work on Paul Hodes in NH.
For those who haven't even read HR 1207, maybe we can send a "before and after" version of Sec.31, showing exactly where the revision takes place.
Do you think some backlash is taking place from fed arm-twisting? Someone wrote about his representative talking with him about a discussion with Ben Bernanke.

Somebody is going to have to watch C-Span all day and when a congressman makes an amendment we can have them get flooded with calls and mail from their own district, maybe even a protest.

How exciting to see my very own Congressman, James McGovern, has chosen to cosponsor HR1207.

I have been emailing him a couple of times a week to enlighten him about this bill and the growing number of cosponsors. I imagine his staff made him aware of just how hot this bill has become and suspect his reason is more political than anything.

I must confess I did tell him that we will be running against him for re election and that his support of the bailouts, both of them, would go against him. I informed him via DownsizeDC.org that the Fed was responsible for the loss of purchasing power of the dollar and was instrumental in causing the current economic crisis and that it needs to be audited.

Now I can encourage him to get his colleagues to join in too.

I was just wondering where you get this information, because everywhere I look, it says there are still 190 cosponsors.

I'm amazed to see that Rep. Boehner actually went through with it. I saw someone on Ron Paul Forums the other day say that his office said this was coming, but I didn't know if he'd really do it. Awesome.

I want to be excited but when I saw Childers had signed on I can help but think some kind of deal has been made to allow it be come to the floor but that it won't be allowed to come to a vote as is.

We have 2 out of 3 in NV -- Congresswoman Dina Titus is the only one who is left, she should be easy to get on board given that the others in NV have already signed on. I faxed her this morning. Anyone else who can contact her please do so and tell her to cosponsor 1207. Here is her contact info: website: http://titus.house.gov/

she has 2 offices, one in NV & one in DC
